Hey guys I've read through the Dublin data sheets and I'm hearing mixed reviews about the city. I study chemical engineering at CU boulder and my only option for study abroad is at University College Dublin. Anybody have any experience with the school or surrounding areas. Is it worth going to, will being an American be any advantage with the girls over there?

I've only visited the school. Looks like a nice campus, dont know anything else though. Its a solid taxi ride to harcourt st, where youll probably be hanging. If you got some olive skin, an American accent and some game. Id imagine you would do really well. I had a lot of fun there. Quality is slighty better then some usa cities I think. Never been to Boulder though. Lots of big titty bitches there. Dublin is a huge tourist city too so lots of opportunities to meet girls from everywhere.

Well for starters it is the biggest uni in Ireland. Think it's over 30k students. Slight way out from central Dublin but it's not that far I guess. As far as I'm aware studying in Ireland is not that expensive. If it is your only option then I guess you don't really have any choice. Girls are cool any everything but remember your studies are important and shape the rest of your career is UCD that reputable? I have many a fair few girls from that college and they've been young and hot but as my taxi driver said "Irish girls remain hot until they marry" plow em why you can. Would this be your first trip to the Emerald Isle?

UCD would be regarded as one of the premier universities in Ireland (Trinity College is regarded as the best, but UCD would certainly be top five, perhaps even top three in the country).
It is to my knowledge the biggest campus in Ireland and I think it has the biggest number of students.
Majority are Irish but there are many non-Irish as well studying there, quite a few Americans from what I remember (although it's twenty years since I was in University).
As it has people from all over the world, there's plenty of attractive young women around of different nationalities.
I can't say how it compares with US universities though, but in Irish terms, it would be 'up there' in terms of variety of and quality of girls.
It's a bit out from the city, circa 40/45 minutes by bus, 20-25 mins by taxi(circa 20 euro), but UCD itself has an active social scene anyway, with plenty of events going on in the campus itself.
It's certainly worth considering as somewhere to go for a semester or whatever.
Being American does give you an advantage I would say, Irish girls might not be nymphos in general(apart from the lower class women from the cities), but they do tend to like American, continental European and Aussie guys, in my experience.

The campus is huge, grey, drab and pretty grim.

That said, it probably has the highest quality of women of any college in Ireland. Lots of international students.

Try get a place closer to the city as the campus is a bit out.

What specifically do you want to know? I studied in UCD for a semester and I'm American. There are no issues with its reputation, it's the clear number 2 University in Ireland behind Trinity and I'm pretty sure it's in the top 200 in the world.

It's not too far from the city centre, and there are frequent buses. If I were you, I'd seek more central accomodation. Irish women aren't great, but Dublin is very international.

To expand on the point above, if you do live on campus make sure it's Belfield. UCD has a small campus in Blackrock which is right on the edge of the city, I'm talking a €40-€50 taxi from Harcourt St. Lots of international students get lumped into the dated dorms in Blackrock.

Yea this will be my first trip out there! Definitely school comes first but this will kind of be a break semester for myself since credits come back as pass fail, basically a D is the same as an A. How was your trip out there? I don't get there until September.

At the moment the main thing I'm trying to figure out what to do for a living situation. On campus would be nice to meet people but I've heard they're pretty restrictive with overnight guest policies, noise etc.

Okay I'll make sure to get in Belfield, any recommendation on a specific dorm there?

I appreciate all the responses, I'm definitely going there next semester now I'm just in the stages of choosing classes and accommodation.

You can travel around Europe easily, Dublin after all is a base of Ryanair.

No issues with guests when I was there, that may or may not have changed in the last few years, I don't know. The policies around noise were no more stringent than any American University.
