Time for Roosh to ask for damages and compensations?
So, these last days, Roosh has been branded a leader of a pack of roaming (would-be?) rapists, he's been gravely defamed in more than 20 media all around the world, in various languages, also his private family home has been doxxed, etc... and, he has received thousands of threats of bodily harm... Confused

And he would get no legal compensation? No way!: let me remind all readers that Roosh has obviously never been charged with any sex crime, or any kind of felony as a matter of fact. So, how can a man with a perfectly clean rap-sheet and conscience get such a hounding, and more importantly, how could he get no indemnity after such a public ordeal...?

I know there is in the US this amendment about "free speech", but surely, this doesn't include being called a pro-rape leader all over the news. Also, what about all the other countries in which Roosh has received unspeakable insults from the local media!? Have these other countries no laws, to protect a private citizen?

So, if some of you are lawyers, could you please give advise and data on how to proceed, were Roosh inclined to ask for financial compensations?

It might be useful for all and any private citizen in the world, actually... because, if we don't react now, MSM will know that they can throw incredible insults at anyone in the world, publish photos of their home and reveal their face and address, and not pay any cent in damage!Dodgy How could it be so? Time to ask for the Law to protect private citizens from such global, worldwide, total character assassinations!

Keep in mind that any company that you sue over has vast legal defense funds AND will be backed by various government programmes and non-government cuck organizations like ACLU or Reporters without borders.

I don't know much about law, but I do know that today's legal processes are incredibly biased and manipulated. I'd tread carefully.

Does OP have a precedent for one man winning a class action lawsuit against major newspapers that doesn't cost the plaintiff years of his life?

He's already received financial benefit from this. No doubt he'll now enjoy spending his time as mentioned in the press release -- turning this event into more sex and money -- rather than go grey in a court.

Yes, you are right, but like Libertas, I think they went too far this time... and they (MSM) know it: most foreign newspapers publishing these slanderous articles about Roosh, were very careful not to put any journalist name below the article... they sensed they were going a bit too far on Roosh, and consequently published anonymously, most of the times.

Start with selective targets. Sue the Daily Beast's writers, after asking Mike or Marc Randazza if you have a case.

This should be put into the operations lounge.

I am no private lawyer, Phoenix, but I have noted that some very knowledgeable lawyers seem to be active and posting on the forum, and could hopefully give their opinion here...

But well, I do have the feeling that some legal action is definitely possible in this matter, and could bring much-deserved financial reward, considering the obvious damage done.

Also, Roosh could ask for a public defender and not risk any personal money on this, right? Or is it so (in the US) that you can't get a public defender if you yourself press the initial charges?... In my country, Roosh could start legal action against any media for free, considering he does not receive a fixed monthly wage...

It would be a civil case for libel, and he would be the plaintiff. Public defenders are only for people accused of a crime who can't afford an attorney. It doesn't matter how just a case is, it will still take huge amounts of time, effort, and money to pursue. America doesn't do 'loser pays'.

Then, forget about the US: Roosh could press charges against the French leftist newspaper that published a scandalous article on him, against the biggest Catalan and South-American media that went after him, etc... and what about Australia...? Laws in those countries seem to be more protective of citizen privacy than your US laws...

I mean, really: a man, never charged with any felony, can be insulted all around the world in 20 international media, and get zero dollar in compensations?

Idea Heck, Roosh should pull an Assange (also falsely accused of a kind of "rape") here: ask for a UN legal decision. Assange did just that a few days ago, to try and clear his name...

http://www.theguardian.com/media/live/20...ve-updates

And if you think it'd be too much, to ask for protection from the UN, think again: Roosh has been mocked and defamed by the entire British parliament in urgent session, couple of days ago... he's entitled to UN protection just as much as Assange!

Precisely, if I were Roosh, I would like Assange be "citing the UN Convention Against Torture", to invoke moral torture and character assassination. That is how Assange won... Consider also this quote: "Assange ended his speech with an appeal to authorities to consider the impact on his family."

Idea Great idea right here. To become a news maker and provider of raw data from the ground, by himself hiring and registering journalists and sending them to, for example, Trump's conferences or Hungarian or German border fronts.

The use of MSM as a PR company for getting the message out there and controlling your own home media base...shades of Trump, Danger & Play, and Breitbart.

There's a market for this. People want to read these. But this suggestion would really take RVF and RoK to a different level. RoK and RVF have a worldwide following, so the raw resources are there, already for readership and for reporting. At what point does an RVF member lambasting the latest instance of feminist policies hurting society become amateur journalism?

RVF Steam Group-PM for details.

The media still needs to pay for the lies they've peddled though. That's the big problem, the "establishment" can do all this stuff because they never need to face the consequences for their actions, it's always somebody else facing the consequences for their actions.

Crowdfund it, talk to lawyers, and see if there's a possible case to be made. Those Daily Beast columnists are particularly waiting to be hammered.

RE: Time for Roosh to ask for damages and compensations?
At the current moment, no. The media has too much money to fight right now and we'd run out of money before them.

However, we might get lucky seeing as Roosh is now labeled "pro-rape". They may try and use Roosh's endorsement of Trump to paint Trump as someone who has "pro-rape" people supporting him. Obviously this isn't good for Trump's campaign if the media starts copying and pasting each other's stories as they can't help themselves lazily echo each other.

Trump will then go and find out exactly what's going on here and proxy support Roosh's fight of libel against the media.

We just have to hope the idiots overplay their hand AGAIN.

I hope more people start actively insulting the journalism programs at the colleges these reporters graduated from. The one girl who asked, "your writings are inflammatory" needed a slap to the face. Do they not teach what freedom of speech is anymore in these marxist indoctrination camps?

The big irony is that because Roosh IS harmless - it's that much easier to accuse and attack. Real rapists and criminals have NEVER received this much vitriol.

Sounds like a bit of a long shot to me, I don't expect even Trump to throw in with us and support a lawsuit against the protestors, even if they are feminists.

Best option is a strong counter- narrative, which we have to keep on building.

Strongly agree, this defeatist 'oh noes the big lawyers' is not productive. It's a way to make you give up even before you try.

They went after Roosh, with a rage, for several reasons:

Because he fights excessive feminism, and counter-productive, hypocrite SJWs... because he doesn't hide what he thinks of anti-natural homosexuality... because he has these Migrants-Invasion and Support-Trump well-documented threads on his forum... because they needed to distract public opinions from other current issues...
And also, as you said, because they consider Roosh as a soft target: he is no free-mason, has no violent gangster friends or BLM-type activists with him, and is a law-abiding citizen. And there is nothing the global elites disrespect and mock more, than a middle-class law-abiding citizen!

Global elites only fear very rich (and therefore potentially dangerous) people, or poor but organized and potentially violent people (the BLM kind, or islamists)... we normal law-abiding citizens are fair game to them!

News organizations have huge war chest for these kinds of legal battles. My recommendation would be to go after someone small. Maybe a SJW leader, some blue hair he/she who re-posted defamatory statements. Make an example out of her. Better yet go after a white night!! They are the ones that need to be made an example of.

RE: Time for Roosh to ask for damages and compensations?
Ok, time for a long post.

Before I start writing my opinion, I would like to tell that I am about to graduate law school, and that I have parents and close family friend working in various legal professions. Therefore, I believe I know what I am talking about.

I share the OP's opinion. The things the MSM and people on Facecrap did to you were extremely disgraceful, and outright illegal (slander, libel, mental anguish...). You and your family suffered damages, and, if you decide (again, I am not saying you what you should do - it is your life, and not mine, after all) not to do anything, you will encourage further attacks on you and yours. If you make some of the attackers suffer, others (the more rational ones) will think twice before attacking you ever again.

Should you decide to press charges, pick your targets wisely. Avoid huge MSM companies such as NYT, because their legal fund has a budget probably worth millions of dollars. You know what that means. Not to mention that they enjoy more protection from the elites, simply because they are big and important.

Hit smaller news companies, such, as someone mentioned, Daily Beast, which are not nearly as financially powerful as, an example, NYT, and individuals which really went too far on FB. Do not be shy using a crowdfunding source if you have to, I am sure many of us would help. They (DB and FB individuals) are smaller fish, and crowdfunding will probably not work for them so well.

There is a good method of instilling dread in this game. Make, for example, 20 slips of paper, with the names of individuals and companies you want to sue. Put them on a table, without the names being seen. In front of a camera, take one, and read aloud the name of either individual and company, and the accusations.Say something like "Congratulations X, you are being SUED". Put that video on Youtube, and press charges as soon as possible after that.

Keep doing that as long as statute of limitations applies (I do not know how long it is in your area).

Why I am so...cruel? Oh, Little Dark, deliver me!

Not likely. Trump would shrug off any such accusations and turn them back against the accuser. He's already on record as speaking out against the rapes in Germany and the Southwest, so he'd just bring those back up again, and derail the conversation completely. The rest he'd ignore. Nothing stops the Trump train.

He's a solid guy, and won't put up with bullshit when he's in power, but he's not our personal Batman, billionaire crusader though he is.

"Avoid huge MSM companies " it seems to make sense, yes, but...

I personally would recommend going after nothing less than the DailyMail!

Yes, I know they have plenty of lawyers but... they have plenty of money to get fined, too! And more importantly, they are the ones that went incredibly too far in their illegal hounding of Roosh, doxxing him at his parents' house, pics included... certainly, laws have been broken there, by the DailyMail!

So why not press charges against the DailyMail, and not for 5000 usd, no: half a million dollars, something like that. A whole family put in danger, forced to move out, a private citizen slandered on front page for millions to see, an honest citizen mis-characterized as a rape-leader, etc... I'd say it's worth half a million dollars' legal compensation.

There's a very strong case to be made against the Daily Mail. They caused tangible damage not just to Roosh, but to his family - all private individuals, based on lies.

I also agree with putting together a hit list. Just the chilling effect alone would be a potent attack.

It's all well and good to talk about long term plans, but these people need to pay for what they've done, and the good thing is, Roosh has resources friendly to him like Mike and Marc Randazza to talk to about this before going in with an attack.

I'd at least trash talk these guys hard on the ROK and list all the grievances. That way if somebody else gets victimized, these news stories would serve as a testament to a pattern of behavior.

Not necessarily:
Roosh could contact an ombudsman, for free:

"Contact the ombudsman to find out how to submit a complaint.

Different ombudsmen have different procedures – some may ask you to fill out a complaint form, while for others you need only write a letter outlining your problem.

If it’s the latter make sure you include the following information:

Your name and address (or the name and address of the person making the complaint)
The name and address of the organisation the complaint is being made about
Details of what your complaint is about, including exactly what the company did that it shouldn’t have (or what it didn’t do that it should have done)
What you have lost in terms of personal injustice, financial loss, hardship or inconvenience
What you would like the organisation to do to put things right, and details of what you have done so far to try to resolve the complaint
Include copies of any relevant letters, emails, invoices or receipts
"

So Roosh could redact such letter like that:

The name and address of the organisation the complaint is being made about
The DailyMail, London

Details of what your complaint is about, including exactly what the company did that it shouldn’t have
Publish address and pictures of my family's home, and call me a rape-friendly basement-dweller, so that, spurred by the DailyMail, my enemies could threaten and stalk me and my parents

What you have lost in terms of personal injustice, financial loss, hardship or inconvenience
Had to hire security guards, and move my family out. Huge loss of money. Mental trauma.

What you would like the organisation to do to put things right
Want the DailyMail to publish an open letter where they would apologize to me and my family. Plus, half a million brit pounds as compensation for losses incurred and mental anguish.
