RE: Budapest sheet
I've been many times in Budapest and I agree with most of what has been said. Here’s my 2 cents.
In a nutshell : Budapest is a good compromise between the wild East and the decadent West.
It won’t be as obvious to get girls as it might be further East, Hungarians won’t be impressed with your passport because they can easily go to Western Europe thanks to Schengen and Easyjet.
On the other hand, it’s really easy and cheap to go there if you are a westerner, the city is quite safe, most people you will encounter speak English, and you probably won’t get into shady situations (if you avoid the scam bars in the center and the gipsy taxis) as you would further East or South. It’s also rather easy to get a job if you speak English, albeit a low-paying one, as you have many outsourced call-centers and back-offices from globo-corps such as Exxon, IBM and Tata. Unemployment rate is quite low now and there is a shortage of manual labor.
About the girls : I’d say 85% brown hair, 15% blondes. In my opinion, I’ve been more impressed in other places, but still Hungarian girls are OK. I would say there are many 7s. As far as I'm concerned, I’m fine with a 7, I’m not a model myself.
It's quite westernized, especially if you talk to girls who are fluent in English, which is most of them in Budapest. This is both good and bad, as it will be easier to understand girls that speak a common language and are not so different culturally. On the other hand, I’ve been caught off-guard a couple times here with some women reciting feminist talking points to me, which can happen especially if you wander about close to the Soros institute (Central European University).
There is sometimes a misunderstanding between Eastern girls who want to mate with a Westerner because they expect he will cook, take care of the kids, or be more “progressive” in general, and Western guys who travel to the East with the intent of finding a more traditional woman…
With Hungarians, there is a strong opposition between those that are quite nationalist and will lecture you about Trianon, and those that are prone to self-hate and have an inferiority complex because they come from a small not-so-rich country. Almost no middle ground between these two extremes. In Budapest, you are more likely to encounter the second type, and some girls from that group seem to have a preference for foreigners. Staying there a while, I noticed a girl who was only dating Spanish guys, and another one only Italians, and so on.
On the venues: there is really a big difference between summer and winter. Indoor venues that are packed and very lively in winter will be empty or closed in summer, such as the Morrison pubs.
Szimpla, Instant, Otkert, Doboz, those have been around at least 10 years now. As said in previous posts, Szimpla is mainly for tourists and the people working there will speak to you in English. In the summer, you should try Budapest Park for concerts.
All in all, I would not call Budapest a “pussy paradise”, but there are some nice girls around, and as a foreigner, it is always possible that you will meet a girl who is especially interested in the culture you come from, and get lucky. So the main reason I keep coming back here is that it’s more relaxed than big western cities like Paris and London, in part because it’s smaller, and also because it’s not really multicultural (yet?). In Budapest, you get the benefits of a more homogenous, higher trust society, and dare I say it feels more European than Paris. (FWIW in 2 weeks I closed a 5 and a 7)
