Netflix was able to stop Blockbuster from doing the mailing DVD thing because it patented the ideas of mailing a dvd and another one of letting you keep it as long as you want. Ridiculous.

It was also because of Blockbusters original business model left them in a terrible position to rotate/pivot in a new direction to compete against Netflix.

The people who built up Netflix knew what their business model was from day one so they had presumably worked out the major issues with their service.
Blockbuster would've had to fire and them hire a lot of people just to effectively compete and they still lost in the end.
It was also because blockbuster nickel and dime late fee strategy pissed off it's users. Netflix attacked that in advertisement while doing essentially the same thing (Their users got to own the responsibility for not mailing their dvd back soon enough). It was also because blockbuster's stores became one of their largest asset. Funded by debt, they were the source of their largest liabilities.

Unfortunately, as long as Twitter and Facebook remain popular with women then these companies will never fully go under.

Until the next device comes along to steal the attention of women, these apps will remain the most popular and people in charge of them will try to control the narrative.

So until women move to the next big thing, we have to be careful not to get banned on these apps. It sucks, but our enemies have us by the balls on this one.

I just looked through a few of their patents. Twitter holds over a thousand patents, many of them that were acquired from IBM when IBM sued Twitter for patent infringement. It is clear that if they wanted to they could easily crush a similar/truly open and free (as in speech) competitor.

Having said that, I would welcome a competitor with open arms and perhaps an open wallet too. I wouldn't mind micro-financing a competitor if I knew the team building it was legitimate.

Big personalities won't need Twitter/Facebook... they can create their own self-branded apps that will never get cancelled and which they own.

There may even be a resurgence of self-owned blogging as people move off Twitter.

Ding ding ding. This is exactly what will happen. Eventually things will balkanize... it always does. As long as there isn't a total grip on people, and there isn't with Facebook and Twitter, it will balkanize.

Perhaps there will be a direct communications path that bypasses thought-controllers like Facebook and Twitter that sends messages/tweets from one person directly to their thousands of followers. The same new system could also take feedback and interactivity from fans in a way we haven't even imagined yet. Also a possibility is all major personalities would have their own iOS app, Android app, and Web property to directly communicate with followers.

Seriously. The way they make you delete your own tweets is a way to demonstrate their power over you, and intimidate you against further such actions in the future. It is the Big Mommy on the internet telling you how to behave.

This is correct Samseau, also if they make you delete your own posts then the consistency principle will trick you into believing that you were actually wrong.

What he is describing is a mesh network. I believe phones can be set up to provide ad-hoc connections, all is needed is enough phone users, and the right software, to spread communications from person to person. Meaning, you bypass the internet.

To do it right, you need good encryption so that the intermediate people that pass on your message cannot read it. You have to figure out a way to exchange encryption keys with who you want to talk to, and a software to handle passing messages around.

With enough radio towers that just repeat whatever is sent to them, and enough users, you can have a high bandwidth. But, until it caught on, you'd probably only be sending texts. You're also probably violating some FCC rules. There may be ways around that but I haven't spent a lot of time thinking about it.

It would be a dark net, and a way to also have a digital currency that would be very difficult to trace. It may already exist?

Edit: Similar things exist...

Nyberg, a transsexual who used to be called Nicholas, hoped to become a leading progressive without acknowledging or atoning for her past. But her past caught up with her, and our reporting has once again been proven entirely right.

In a lengthy Medium post, Nyberg admitted today that chat logs from the website Final Fantasy Shrine, in which she can be seen claiming to be a pedophile and defending white nationalism, were hers.

I'm shocked that Twitter is going to bat for a tranny freak. Based on Twitter's recent censorship actions, particularly against Milo, I can also guess the kind of messed up people they employ.

Figures.

The FCC has nearly eliminated all competition and access except for those who lobby and practice political fellation. Reminds me of an old movie about a high school kid running a pirate radio show that the entire school listens to, even parents, and how they are trying to shut him down.

Actually there are more than a few mesh networking applications for android. The most famous one is this: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/FireChat It was partly inspired by the California cell network shutdown a few years ago that made everyone realize that local and fed governmant has the ability to emergency shutdown allcell towers.

I wonder if you just did it in some country where they didn't give a shit about US laws. I do know that your site could be blocked by the country where the patents are being violated. But there must be some work around for sure.

I mean in China, there is its own version of FB (don't remember the name), I don't think FB has ever gone after it and I imagine FB must have some patents. Even though the guy stole the idea from those twins. But he got his punishment, going be a pussy for the rest of his life married to a hog.

Get an Amateur radio license (HAM) and use the digital modes, you can text and send other telemetry data over the air locally or nationally. No encryption is allowed though.
