I live in Florida and I'm here visiting family in the Midwest for the holidays. I've made zero modifications to my Tinder profile, and while the quantity of matches seems to be about the same, the quality is 2-3 points higher on average and 50% are opening me. I've even had an 8.5 "Super Like" me.

My profile is purposefully simple. I only have two photos. The first is a b/w of me suited up, holding a glass of whiskey. The second is a close-up of me smiling (Florida girls are big on nice teeth). I'm looking away from the camera in both photos.

My bio says "Six Two. I'm an optimist -- my glass of whiskey is always full. I do things differently. Disclaimer: I'm not here for a hookup."

I'm vexed trying to isolate the reason(s) for the increase in quality. I'd kill to know why so I can replicate the increase in quality for when I return home.

Fewer quality guys in the Midwest and thereby fewer options for women? My "look" just does better in the Midwest? Something in my profile does more to DHV to Midwestern women opposed to Floridian women?

Your value will go up in some regions depending on looks, profile, and how you are perceived socially, with expectations varying. Maybe you fit in more with what that region is looking for? Girls from one region may like a certain type of guy and see you as fitting what is attractive to the general population in the area. I've noticed that in Canada it varies from province to province: some regions go more for hairier guys, but then other places look more for a baby-face. Some regions care more about social value and less about looks, while other regions girls just want to fuck attractive men.

Thanks Jones! That basically reaffirms my thoughts. I may do some use-cases with different photos when I get back home and see if I can replicate. Just wish I had the time and logistics to game some of these matches while I'm in town.

I feel like it's had a positive impact -- for me at least. My game is kinda nuanced in that I come across as fairly aloof, yet also purposely give off the "boyfriend material" vibe at the same time -- which contradicts the aloofness; creating a "WTF" scenario in those hamster brains. It's not more than 2-4 hours from meet to bang, so I don't see how it's hurting me.

In 2015, over the course of six months, I managed ten bangs. Nine of those were first-date bangs following Tuthmosis's strategy to the letter; the other was a second-date bang.

One Girl:
Her: "I get the impression you just kinda do whatever you want."
Her: "I can't tell if you're a nice guy or a player."
Me: "Both (with a smirk")."

Another Girl:
Her: "I want a relationship."
Me: "I don't want a relationship."
Her: "But your profile says you're not looking for hookups."
Me: "That was said half-jokingly."
Her: "I wish you had told me that a month ago."

I'd say it's worth a shot if you get back on Tinder.

I am in the MN and get way more matches and higher quality when I visit my buddies in CT. Also without changing my profile, I rarely match once a week anymore when at home if you are not counting the spammers sending you links to other sites.
