Today's post on Roissy is relevant to this discussion. It seems that even mainstream sources are acknowledging that in developed countries women want to be pumped and dumped by alphas and not settle for the economic security of betas. Apparently, they're only attracted to betas when resources are scarce. Thus, in developed countries it's pretty much impossible to find a woman who is going to settle down for any significant length of time.

One of the comments got me thinking:

Maybe the default state for human beings is for women to be attracted to alphas and men working just enough to have necessities and get laid occasionally. Advanced civilizations that require lots of betas might better be thought of as an anomaly or dysfunction. Remeber that it's only been about 300 years since the industrial revolution and before that there were only a few other civilizations to ever exist out of 250,000 years of homo sapien history that we would call "advanced".

We might be shocked that what's best for society is at odds with sexual selection, but that's likely the way it's been for the vast majority of human history. I'd go so far as to say that without the kind of intense social conditioning we get at school and our jobs, the vast majority of men would be more "alpha" and aggressive, never learning to develop beta traits. Training someone to sit at a desk solving problems for 10 hours a day is obviously not something that occurs within a state of nature. So it should be obvious that women are not attracted to the men who do that.

my father was happy he was married to my mother for 45 years ( his second marriage). About marriage he said " If you find the right woman, it's wonderful." One one person, but a pretty important example to me.

One important thing he mentioned about what was great about my mother:" She's happy when there's money, she's happy when there's no money"

My mother was really nice, and not greedy. I suspect my Dad has his affairs, but he'd never play it up or use it as a bludgeon.


But even his first wive's kids ( my half brother) agree she was a b&itch, he paid child support for them for 20 years.

He was very industrious and that kind of burden would destroy me, especially now with the economy set to stun for the masses.
I agree marriage is too likely to be hopeless in a first world country, unless you are a young super-alpha who can take the hit of the b&tch leaving you, and the pain of paying her to fcuk someone else while you rarely get to see your kids.

But in a less biased culture I think it can work, where the man has more power than in the first world.

One of my aristocratic childhood friends is happy in America in his 50s, "4 kids, a great wife" he told me.

But he's probably worth 20-30 million. How can his 35-50 year old wife find a better lifestyle by leaving HIM?
Even in high school women competed for him. He's a super-alpha, not famous, just totally won in the American system.
