Anyone who is at all philosophically libertarian should be celebrating the growing irrelevance of these institutions' undergraduate bodies. With the gatekeepers of knowledge and many of the most lucrative career opportunities out of the way, maybe we can have a shot at a true meritocracy and an economy that will reap the benefits of such a fundamental change that would encourage competition.

Not excusing such men, but it's a big step mainly because, typically, men have more to lose: house, kids, job, reputation at large. Women either can recover any or all of these things with the right judge and/or husband. If you're a man, once you're shitcanned on Google, that's probably it for your chosen career unless you are in a position or have bank or finances such that they can't touch you. By contrast, a woman can shitpost on Facebook and still have a half-decent chance at retaining her employment. No such luck for a guy - there was even a thread recently where one guy didn't even insult a woman and he still got fired.

Essentially, their heart is in the right place, and so they shouldn't be condemned for their "missteps".

Here are the three "core" values:

A faculty member could, and likely should, complain to the Executive about a breach of the Regulations by most or all of these students, which would start the investigative and disciplinary processes. Unfortunately, I have little faith that any faculty member will, given the snivelling apology referenced above. That said, these students engaged in conduct that at least ought to be investigated by the Executive, and perhaps in some cases the disciplinary process should be started.

There is a mechanism for another student to complain, although I see a potential for interference from the faculty who may want to sweep this all under the rug arising from the requirement that any student complaints must receive a kind of "parental supervision":

Thus it would take a student with some gumption, some tenancity and little fear, because I suspect the faculty may attempt to talk any student complaining about these entitled brats out of it.

There is a more particularized process (with more natural justice safeguards) for "any case involving a charge of acts of violence or physical force, harassment, intimidation, or coercion", but this specialized process appears to apply only when the complainant him or herself is the victim of the physical force, harassment, intimidation or coercion and it would appear that in the wake of the apology, that is not going to happen.

It's a long shot, but I have to believe someone in the faculty at Yale is very unimpressed with the tactics used by these students to mob another faculty member for merely speaking his mind and trying to stick up for his own wife.

The one I gave the most time tried to tie in the black lives matter movement(widely become a catch all like hitler) and exaggerating the campus incident that's equivalent to "I don't want to go to school today... think I call in a fake bomb threat".

There is something deeply satisfying about this.

When you think of how hard it is to get into a place like Yale, not just the grades, but you probably have to be a starter on at least one Varsity sports team in high school, and you have to be the volunteer of volunteers in your community and at your church.

And all of this is great, if you are sincere.

It is also, I guess, okay, if you are faking it just to get into a prestigious school, because even if you don't mean it, you are still at least volunteering at the old folks home or whatever.

But then you get to a girl like Jerelyn.

Think of all the ass kissing she had to do to get into Yale. And think of all the suppressed rage and entitlement she had to choke down like bile as she pretended to like things she didn't like, and pretended to care about things that she didn't care about, and all in service of the ultimate payoff:

Jerelyn being recognized as the most specialist special person of all.

Her master plan.

And then. . . in a minute, in a moment, in what was, actually, a bit of mob psychology, she just got caught up and started screaming, and forgot about the fact that everything is filmed these days, and forgot that there is no guarantee that everyone agrees with you, and forgot that oops, maybe people are leaving and I am the only one still screaming.

She didn't even bother to make any sense.

And all that rage and entitlement came out in one glorious exhalation, and it was marvelously cleansing, and must have felt so good that for a while she didn't even know she had fucked up, for a while she felt the righteous rush of finally revealing her true self to the world. For a while the world was bright and beautiful.

And how seldom do these robotic, joyless strivers ever find themselves in a situation that reveals the true beast. How seldom do we get to see it like this.

Get to see that they have been learning things by rote, and have no real understanding of the principles behind the concepts they write A papers about.


Principles like:

Freedom of speech is important.
You can't make a law about every little thing.
Sometimes someone you respect can have a different opinion from yours.


They may have a larger vocabulary, and a greater ability to think in the abstract, but at their most fundamental, the Jerelyn Luthers of the world are following the herd no less than Kim Kardashian fans.

Just with a Thesaurus so they sound smart.

And now, after all that faking, and all that grinding, to get where she is, and whatever she achieves later, and no matter how hard she works to erase this whole episode from her memory or anyone else's, she will now be remembered, for the rest of her life as:

The professor who sent the Halloween email has decided to no longer teach at Yale. The meltdown worked.

I rewatched the bit when she suddenly screams at him to 'BE QUIET!!!' when he calmly tries to defend myself about ten or twenty times before even seeing the rest of her tantrum.

I just couldn't believe the professor's reaction was to actually be quiet and listen and like a good little boy. I was stunned how he actually thought it was ok to be spoken to like that, by a student!

That was the moment any sane man would have drawn a line and stopped listening to the bullshit or walked away. A sane university would expel the student also.

Jerelyn Luther has hopefully already destroyed her reputation permanantly, whether she's expelled or not (Search her name on Google) but I'm pissed off with this coward.

He was basically apologising when she was shouting at him, and accepting being scolded as a punishment for his racism and insensitivity. Then he comes out with a statement apologising again. Also he's a sociologist. That's the class where these ideas are taught, So fuck him, no sympathy.

There is not much more to say about this, except that three new videos have surfaced of the interactions between the professor and students before the shrieking girl started shrieking. Posting it here for sake of completeness.

Just remember, this is over Halloween costumes. Students wanted rules about costumes that might hurt feelings, and professors thought the students could work it out between themselves. That is the entirety of what the drama is about.
