It's hard to avoid that ills that this society has, celebrity worship being one of them.

If a guy who's down on his luck walks up to your car at an intersection, hoping to just get a dollar out of you, you shoe him off or pretend to not see him by talking on the phone, changing the radio, whatever.

A celebrity with a known history of drug abuse intentionally tries to kill himself, and every motherfucker wants to hit twitter with #PrayersUp.

The main problem I have with these people is that they are living the lives they choose to live, yet they also want to be victims for having to live those lives.

One story out there says Odom became upset because they keep using his phone calls with Khloe on television, but recently when he had something he wanted to say, he used TMZ as a platform.

Everybody deals with shit, and there's no doubt the man has had to deal with a lot in his life, but that doesn't change the fact he's also had the opportunity to have a human experience that 99.9% of people will never have nor will they ever be able to dream of.

The media is writing all these pieces about "the real Lamar Odom", and the fact remains that none of them know the real Lamar Odom. Their frame of reference solely comes from the fact that at one point in his life, he was a great basketball player. That. is. it. The real person is the one he is when cameras aren't around and when he's not being judged just for playing a game.

The real person violated the NBA's drug-policy two times in his career, and his been linked to drug abuse for over the past two years.

The real person made a conscious decision to try to kill himself by taking an unusual amount and mixture of drugs while spending a ridiculous amount of money at a whorehouse, this was meant to be his last goodbye.

Rather than use his money to get the kind of help that most people can not afford, he chose to do something that explicitly says, "I don't want to live anymore", meanwhile regular human beings will lose their hum-drum, non-existent existences as the result of real tragedies, real accidents, real crimes, and who will care?

Who will #PrayersUp for them and their families?

Look, I understand the difference, fame is a bitch, it gives people the illusion that they know someone. Millions of people purporting to "know" Lamar Odom, and hopung he gets better, while they won't even take the time to find out the names of their neighbors.

It's unfortunate that I'm aware of this reality, awareness is really a bitch, because things that you don't necessarily want to see, you realize it's imperative that you do see them, and they're often staring you right in the face.

I don't want Lamar Odom or anybody else to die, but I'll reserve my sympathy for when it's absolutely necessary, not for men who have "rich nigga problems", can't deal with the downsides of the lives they've chosen to live, and rather than get help for whatever the fuck is wrong with them, they rather take the coward's out way, hurt everybody around them in the process, and take a shit on the fact that they've been blessed to have an unusual and incredible human experience.

Latest update is that he will live, but needs to learn how to walk and talk again. He also most likely has suffered some type of permanent damage, but it is not determined/revealed yet. Currently he communicates only via hand signals and 'texts'

Apparently his ex wife Khloe is going to stay by his side until he recovers. How much do you want to bet they will make a spin off series about this 'Lamar & Khloe: Physical Therapy Edition' or whatever? Anyhow, I think this is interesting to note that this guy, who by all accounts fulfills multiple 'alpha' qualities (self made millionaire, top level athlete, etc) has nearly destroyed himself over a hefty dose of Oneitis over a C list 'celebrity' who is probably a 6 at most, (and that is with makeup and whatever plastic surgery she has done to herself).

Going to do a RTS on this topic overall, but Lamar Odom is a "pet nigga", and we need to have a discussion about "pet niggas" because they're all over the streets looking for homes.

The chick who was his chick in high school when he was nobody and gave him two kids wasn't good enough because she was just like him, a nobody from a broken home and humble circumstances. When he got rich and famous, he had access to dime pieces and other rich bitches, so she became an afterthought.
