So I'm in a situation that has some major positives. I'm the only Western male in a University class of English speaking females in an Asian country. The only Western male at the whole college from what I can tell, but unfortunately 100% of my approaches don't speak English so far : /

Anyway, inside the class, there isn't a single girl that isn't making a LOT of eye contact and smiles.

The one I want, a rock-solid 9 from Mongolia, has two friends, a 7.5 and 8 respectively, and the three of them are like Siamese twins. I am beginning to think that if one of them ever walked out of the room the other two are in, she might instantly die.

I just finished Day Bang and it makes two points pretty clear. Approaching groups in the day is a fail, and trying to game by text is a fail.

I MIGHT be able to talk to this girl for a 3-5m window without her friends at MOST if I'm lucky.

I do have access to phone chat with her if I want, as everyone in the class has exchanged this info.

How to approach?

Cold approaching a group in the day time, indeed, will generally result in weak leads if you're going direct, but considering you're in the same class as them and that you probably already have some social status as "the Western guy" you're definitely not cold approaching in this situation.

If they're so tight as a group you're probably not getting in with any of them if your target doesn't get the approval of her friends anyway so I would try to approach the group and just make small talk about a class subject - something innocuous, and calibrate after. Close by asking your girl if she could help you with other stuff in the future, now if she says yes it makes sense to use that # number you have and initiate the texting. After some back and forth through texts you can isolate by asking her out to study or to have a drink or whatever.

The conversational techniques are adapted to creating a situation in which you "meet" the woman so that you can ask her out for a drink at the end of the conversation.

The situation you've described is not a cold approach like the sort in Day Bang. A girl in your class is essentially social circle game. You don't need to approach indirectly and ramble for minutes in order to "meet" her, because she already knows who you are. You can just walk up to her and ask her out. It doesn't matter if it's in front of her friends.
