How can something that is supposed to be a brotherhood of warriors be led by an outsider. How are they supposed to respect him.

How would he know about the everyday problems soldiers are dealing with. Which policies would help them to cope with it. What would help to improve the life of the average serviceman, the daily grind, the shit they have to deal with. How would he know that.
Soldiers need a leader, not a bureaucrat.

This is one of Obama's final "fuck you"s on the way out the door. I can only imagine what other shit he'll try to cram in before the next POTUS is sworn in, especially now that people are paying more attention to the 2016 candidates then to him.

Title not accurate, Obama nominated him. He still needs to be confirmed by the Senate.

Saw a video of him. Does not seem like the swishy, "fabulous" type. Does seem young.

Prior secretaries of the Army (from Wikipedia):

Francis J. Harvey, 2004-2007 (no military background)
Pete Geren, 2007-2009 (no military background)
John M. McHugh, 2009-present (no military background)

Thus it appears that this position has been filled by men with no military experience, mostly corporate/attorney people (at least in the past 10 years). I'm against the in your face gay rights stuff, but really, not all gay men are walking around in chaps with their ass hanging out. This just doesn't seem like the sort of thing that's worth getting too excited about. The really bad pro-gay stuff is happening in our schools and universities.

I was listening to the radio in the car today (a mix station that plays eighties on Saturday) and in between songs, the DJ said, "Obama just made history, more after this song." I hoped it would be for some other reason, but the DJ literally called Obama a hero for nominating a gay guy.

I can't believe how the average person hears shit like this on the radio daily and just nods their head in agreement.
