For some it may be classed as 'three-timing', but in one Chinese city having three girlfriends is apparently seen as the norm.

One man from the city of Dongguan, in China’s Guangdong province, has even told media it would be “embarrassing” to have only one girlfriend.

The polyamorous attitude is down to a huge gender imbalance in the city.

The population disparity is reportedly 89 men for every 100 women because local bosses in Dongguan - a centre for manufacturing - shun male employees for more reliable female workers.

One man told local TV, according to News.com.au, it was easier to find a girlfriend than a job in the town, while factory worker Li Bin said: “I have three girlfriends, and all of them know about each other. Many of my friends also have many girlfriends.”
The situation was “very normal”, according to Xiao Lin, MailOnline reported.

“Young and beautiful factory girls are everywhere. They’re simple and easy to get along with, why not have several?”

“It would be too embarrassing for someone to have just one girlfriend. Everyone will laugh at him,” he said, adding it was an acceptable activity for people when they were young.

Many men in Dongguan have odd jobs and casual work and consequently, the women will pay for their way, mirror.co.uk reported.

A Yi, who is unemployed, said: “There are plenty of women in Dongguan, and they don’t want any money. They just want a man.”

The online newspaper reported that the Guangdong Women’s Rights and Information Service said the women ignored the partners because the arrangement was better than being lonely.

I thought the whole area- Shenzhen, Guangdong and Guangzhou were solid places for a guy with game, style and money.

I have not heard this but I've heard of a lot of girls in that area are down with being the side piece of married men if he is rich and fun. So it's not a big reach.

It's a pussy paradise... if you want to pay money for it.

It's a city full of escorts and hookers. Businessmen from HK used to go there to visit their mistresses and notoriously partake in hookers back in the day.

This effect seems exaggerated. Im skeptical of any city in the world having a ratio of 89 men to 100 women in the demographics that matter.

Sure, in most nursing homes this may be the case and men 50+ are loving life in many eastern european nations. But under age 30 this extreme ratio simply doesnt exist anywhere to any significant degree. Notice how the article didnt post a source for their 89 to 100 claim.

Dongguan is THE P4P capital of China. I read somewhere that there are over 20K, if not more, women working in the sex industry in that city.

Not really sure that would qualify as a pussy paradise. At least not for me or any guy in here.

Yeah but you cant do business in Guangdong without having an offer for a spa weekned in Dongguan. Guys talk about the brothels there with reverence. Their eyes well up with tears when talking about their favorite places, favorite girls and stories. I know I certainly would not say no

My cousin played pro basketball there and still ended up marrying a woman from Toronto so who knows.
