I see lots of posters recommending things like making money and lifting weights in order to attact girls. So regarding moving abroad, I see comments saying English teachers are aimless, pathetic losers without a future. Although I'm interested in girls and moving abroad, I'm not so sure being lazy and refusing to work in our rat race system is such a bad idea. Two movies come to mind showcasing this: Lester regaining his masculinity and joy for life once he quits his job and works at a fast-food join in American Beauty and the Dude in the Big Lebowski

Do you guys not recommend being like Lester and the Dude? What is so wrong with adapting a carefree attitude and teaching English?

Sure, but it depends on what you want. If you never intend to start a family, and if you don't really care much for material possessions (enough to live on is OK for you), and you can tolerate unattractive girls or doing p4p, go for it.

I think most other men don't find that acceptable though. The problem with being lazy is that you're saying "I'm waiting to die". You don't move forward to somewhere better every year, you just move closer to decrepitness, ugliness, senility, and death. Not a fair trade as far as I'm concerned.

There's nothing wrong with it when you're young. In fact women eat up the under achieving bad boy.

However, you're looking at works of fiction as reality. Sadly fiction isn't real. You also keenly leave out the fact that Lester dies

The cold reality of the situation is once you leave your teens and 20s the quality of the type of women you'll get drops dramatically if you aren't working to improve yourself. Yes there will be exceptions, but why do you want to esteem to become the exception yourself? An underachieving dead end guy isn't cute, adorable, or "fixable" in a woman's eyes when he's 30,40,50, etc.

Not to mention, when you're at the bottom of the totem pole you will struggle to get quality things like clothes, good food, and a gym membership. As you age these things will take you from ugly old guy to distinguished. Without, well.

Do you really want to be living in a 3rd world shack making a pittance teaching kids to speak english?

I've noticed that people men and women who work dead end low paying jobs become miserable and "dead end" themselves. You can only live on manna for so long.

As Phoenix said, you're just waiting to die. Seems to me to be a waste of your time here on Earth.

1)They're fictional characters. 2) Lester dies (and the Dude's unemployed if I remember well).

Think about the kind of man you'd like to be when you're 40 or 50.
Find a real-life person (or several of them) who fits the description. Read their biography (or wiki page). Implement, adjust and upgrade.

Teaching English abroad will be fun though. You're gonna get exotic pussy and get to experience different kinds of cultures.
Yet in the long run, being lazy (teaching English should not be a long term plan) won't get you anywhere.
The answer? Create a product/service and market it.
Easier said than done, but once you get the money, getting girls and traveling won't be an issue anymore.

The only problem with a career in teaching English when your young is if you dont have enough savings from not making enough money you are missing out on the power of compound interest working for you. That is to say its better to get as much money as you can when you are young and put it into the market and give it time to grow. By doing this when you are young you don't have to worry about having money when your older and can enjoy teaching English knowing you have a pile of money working for you and will have a lot of money when you are older. Some markets for TEFL are more lucrative than others (China, Korea vs Cambodia, Mexico) and might allow you to build up your savings which you can use to grow with compound interest. So its possible to make decent money with TEFL and from there save a lot of it which you can then begin investing with.

You need to stop thinking in terms of "What will get me the most women?". People who work high paying jobs do it because they enjoy it. The people who do it for money and women burn out quick.

What are your passions? If you want to pull a "Peter Gibbons" and just do absolutely nothing while doing the bare minimum to get by just do it and own it. Just don't be surprised when you can't lock down a high quality girl and your living accommodations are lack luster.

100% agree.

I have met many men I know who found a "hack" that meant they didnt have to put out effort, such as :

1. comfort teaching english in some little village abroad (nothing against teaching if you truly want this work, but i mean the vast majority who just take it because it is an easy survival paycheck)
2. guys who still live in a rent controlled apartment that is 1/10th the market value and they think they are getting away with some great con. (actually they are its a government forced con on the property owner but thats another subject)
3. Guys who settle for jobs that pay shit but they are "comfortable" while everyone else around them is moving forward and have more options because they have advanced their career and or capital savings.
Of all of these type of "comfortable" guys that I have met every single one were miserable and full of regret.

So find your life hack, get comfortable, put out no effort, while you watch the wheels go round and round, and get ready for some seriously deep existential dissatisfaction in life.

Seek advice from other than 1. movies and 2. whomever told you that the dichotomy is between the rat race and laziness. I have a friend who makes millions a year distributing automotive parts. He travels all over, hangs with very cool people, and slams the quality pussy that most dont even know exists. He is 100% self made. Do you think this falls into either category of laziness or some lame corporate rat race? Broaden you views "Dude!"

If you go the English teacher route, don't do it more than 2 years. During those 2 years if you learn the language, you can switch to something better.

Being an English teacher doesn't scale into big money unless you start your own company or you have a masteres degree and somehow get to teach at university.

We don't recommend making money and lifting weights in order to attract women. That is a byproduct of doing those things, but not the reason we do it.

Not all of us live in the rat race. Many are entrepreneurial that build up successful businesses that gives us complete freedom.

That is what men do, we build stuff.

It looks like you are trying to justify being lazy. No need, if you want to be lazy then be lazy. We are not here to talk you out of it. I don't think this is the right forum for you, though.

Most of us want to live a worthy life. To accomplish things most men only dream of. We push ourselves to find our limitations and blast through those limitations. We do so because we are not satisfied with the ordinary. The struggle makes us who we are. Living a lazy life wouldn't appeal to most of us. No satisfaction in it.

ok, I admit I have 2 issues. On the one hand, I'd like to screw women, but I only like younger ones close to college-aged. However, I'm already in my late 20s and in the US, girls in college pretty much only date guys also in college. That's ok because I like foreign women much better. However, I don't know what it's like with foreign girls. In my brief time traveling and living in Asia, while I knew of a few college girls dating guys who already graduated, it seemed most of them also dated guys in college

By lurking through this forum, I often see guys saying its not a bad idea to give up your 20s to get into a successful career and make alot of money, so that way in your 30s and afterwards you'll be making more money than most guys and women will find you attractive. Are these women close to college-aged? If so, that contradicts what I said in the paragraph above.

If I devote my 20s to my career and working so that I have a decent amount of money in my 30s but only older women find me attractive, then I'm thinking I'm better off being lazy and doing things that turn women off (like playing video games, listening to video game music, refusing to watch movies and pop music, etc) as opposed to pursuing hobbies that women like (such as weight lifting, playing sports, watching movies, etc). And I'm not interested in money because it affords more comforts. I currently live in an apartment with roach problems, and it doesn't bother me

^I don't know where you went in Asia, but there are no problems finding college aged women for guys in their 30s in countries like the Philippines and Indonesia. Even guys in their 40s here write about their adventures college aged girls. Then, there is a forum member iknowexactly who's complaining how difficult it is to find 8+ college aged girls but doesn't seem to have a problem finding 6s and 7s in that age range in Cebu. He is well into his 50s if I remember correctly.

It seems you are planning your whole future around women. Maybe you're not getting laid much and the reason for your focus?

Once you been with enough women, you will quickly realize doing everything for pussy becomes unfulfilling and then you will be back here asking what to do next.

The reason people mention working hard in your twenties is because youth is on your side. You can work a ton of hours, party it up at night, banging plenty of women while still being able to get up for work the next day.

You won't be able to do that when you get older.

Like I said, if you want to be lazy then be lazy. No one is saying you can't play video games and other things that women don't like. If you want to do them, do them. That doesn't mean you can't also hit the gym to feel and look better for yourself. Nor work at something that will give you monetary freedom so you can live anywhere you want.

As for being lazy, I don't look down on lazy people because I'm lazy myself. Being lazy is better than being stupid. A lot of suckers out there who work hard all their lives and then lose most of their money getting divorce raped and paying child support. You need to set clear goals and understand the trade offs. For example, raising a child in the US costs $200K+, and that doesn't include college tuition. You can spend this money on children or just chill somewhere on a tropical island banging chicks and drinking beer. The choice is yours.

Stop thinking that weight lifting, playing sports, and making money are things done for women primarily. You get into better shape because it makes you fee like Superman. You will experience more positive moods because your body is supporting itself better and normal activities feel effortless.

When you're making real money, you tend to have more control over your life. You can decide how much and how hard you work, and you can say no to things the average person has to tolerate.
