Well, as I understand it, today no Brit who can afford a trip "abroad" holidays at UK seaside resorts. They are all on Easyjet flights to some sunny spot further south. So you're not really comparing apples to apples. The ones travelling to nearby resorts outside the UK are probably better looking, though the whole "drunken Brit abroad" doesn't exactly help their cause in general.

Incidentally, if you are British and don't really care for the "yob" style holiday on Crete, or wherever, consider trips further afield where the concept of a package holiday hasn't caught on. South Africa is actually a good bet, though there are many others. Easyjet doesn't fly here, so it's quite a bit more expensive to get to. Also, the reputation for crime in the country keeps people a bit more on their toes. Doing something really stupid can potentially get you into much deeper shit than if you where in Greece. And this is usually a good thing...

To those who said that WW2 rationing was the reason these women are in shape...that's nonsense. My Grandmother was part of that generation who lived through those terrible times.

These people were thin because they had pride.

Pride in their appearances, pride in their houses, pride in their neighbourhoods and pride in their behaviour.

They believed that a slovenly body was representative of a slovenly mind. T

They chose to stay thin. They weren't forced.

The one on the far right is a good example, the one next to her is pretty good. The two on the left don't have much fat on them. I know the girl on the far right eats too many carbohydrates, but does she also probably have poor or no exercise habits?
