Maybe I’m a bit strange but when I’m on my travels I don’t give a fuck about luxury hotels. For me the hotel has to be safe, secure, clean, located in a good area and the showers and toilet must work OK. The hotel room is not where I spend most of my time on my trip, it’s where I sleep and bang.

If he’s not leaving the hotel then what’s the point of flying to the country? To me life is all about experiences, and not sitting in a fucking room all day.

One thing to remember is, even if you rack up the bonus points to fly "for free", you still need to pay fuel charges (usually), fees and taxes. These really add up for business and first class. They vary wildly from getting screwed to very little, but as a general rule, expect to pay on the cheaper side of an economy ticket for the same business class flight, and the more expensive side of an economy ticket for a first class ticket.

That being said, it is a pretty nice past time if you like to travel, like systems (and how to get around them) and have a good bank roll. Especially in the US, with all the great card deals there. If you get a gold member card for an airline alliance, you and your travel companion flash through check-in in the priority lane, fast track through security (some places), then chill out at the lounge, where snacks and drinks are free. And yes, that includes no limit free alcohol. This might not seem like a big deal at first, but in practice it means you'll be relaxing instead of waiting in long lines. Then when you're boarding, you go first, or whenever you want, and have time to get settled before the smelly, sweaty, ungilded buffalo herd pours in.

The guys working in the first class lounges/business spas are also gay. And when's the last time you saw a straight male flight attendant? The whole flying industry seems pretty gay, except the men actually flying the planes, of course.
