Oh and not surprised at all that such a shitty site had to originate from a Leftist paradise aka Toronto. What a shitty city in way more ways than one could count!
I completely agree, not only because those sites destroy traditional values, but also because leaks will destroy one of the avenues that a lot of sluts have been using to fund their lifestyles - casual prostitution.

Seeking Arrangement and similar sites will probably be next.

It won't make any difference. All of the company's data has been copied, including employment records, internal planning documents, emails, all of the users' account and billing information, profiles, photos, etc.

I just read somewhere that the data will be released in chunks of increasing size until the company is shut down...

Maybe not.

Maybe this is the time for Ashley Madison to go on the offense. All out. All in.

I was just reading an article about jobs of the future...Data Hostage Specialists was one of the jobs that stuck out to me. The second I read it i thought about what life might be as Data Hostage Negotiator, visions of Kevin Spacey from the movie Negotiator jumped in my head.

Data Hostage is going to be the new normal in the years to come, today its large public companies tomorrow it will me regular guys being black mailed.

Waste Data Managers – To insure data integrity in today’s fast evolving information storage industry, multiple redundancies have been built into the system. Achieving more streamline data storage in the future will require de-duplication specialists who can rid our data centers of needless copies and frivolous clutter.

Computer Personality Designers – Talking back and forth to a computer that has a machine-like voice is boring. But being able to download specific “personality packages” will add an entirely new level of engagement for basement-dwellers everywhere.

Data Hostage Specialists – Holding people as hostages is very messy. But holding data hostage is a less-risky crime that can be done remotely, and has the potential for far greater rewards.

This sounds like a job for the Rock. If anyone saw "Ballers" last night on HBO you know what I mean.

Or Liam Neeson from the original "Taken"

Wait those guys are just fiction.

Guess Ashley Madison is fucked.

I'm not able to verify this, because apparently too many people in my area have been downloading this info lately, but I found these links which supposedly contain the leaked data:

Part 1:
http://turbobit.net/516c8uom10dh.html

Part 2:
http://turbobit.net/ipguh1ap29h6.html

EDIT: These links are probably not legit, was passing on questionable info that was shared with me.

Where did you find these? I read from a reputable news source that the sample file size was around 40MB, these add up to 200MB, so I'm a bit skeptical, but will check them out anyways. Thanks!

EDIT: Downloaded both files, I think it's fake. Both part 1 and part 2 are actually the same download. Has a music video of (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MR3NMVcAAR4) and a text file with a bunch of e-mail addresses and usernames, but I doubt they're part of Ashley Madison. Nothing useful.

Pastebins with those links were shared with me. If your news source is correct, then these are probably not legit.

It will be interesting to see the inevitable fallout from this. SJWs on Twitter are already trying to spin a victim narrative, by announcing that leaking this data could put domestic abuse victims at risk. While I don't think that statement is false, it will no doubt be used disingenuously to absolve women of consequences.

Ah, yes. Domestic abuse victims: women who claim to be unable to leave their partners because they're controlling, paranoid men who don't give them any autonomy in their relationships, who monitor their calls, net access, bank accounts, and credit cards.

Exactly the sort of women who have access to credit cards to purchase membership on the site, access to the Internet to use the site, access to phones to set up liaisons after using the site, access to a car or other transportation to get to a liaison, and the opportunity to do all of these things. Sure. Right.

It might create cases of domestic abuse, but in most cases the abuse will be occasioned on the partners who were blithely ignorant of their partner's cheating. Especially men who learn of the cheating, file for divorce, and then get hit with alimony and/or child support payments thanks to the joys of "no fault" divorce.

It's simple. Unless they are able to associate screen names with usernames and also have message logs anyone with half a brain that is outed can claim identity fraud. There's nothing to see here. Move along.

I wonder how many of the guys cheering on the outing of members have knowingly banged married women, I'd say most of them.

Pot meet kettle.

If you had bothered to read any of the reports, you would know that they have billing details (credit cards, addresses, etc.) as well as chat logs, photos and email addresses.

What DaveR said. And this pic that hackers released:

The issue is that most people I bet used fake names, so it would take ages to try and search for a specific user. It'd probably be possible to narrow by location, gender, height, and other details, but still, not as easy as putting in someone's name or address. Unless the user chose to upgrade their service, in that case he or she would probably use a credit card and thus reveal a real name/address.

I'm gonna guess that the data will be released, but it'll be hard to find anything useful through the 35 million+ records. The site will continue on, but its IPO might take a beating.

Well, the leak of Stratfor's subscriber list did actually cause a lot of damage. There will no doubt be a few politicians and other public figures among the site's users.

As I understand, the site requires payment before contact can be made. That makes it easy to identify at least half of the site's active members (credit card name + address would have to match).
I'm not sure if the women get a free ride as on other soft prostitution sites like Seeking Arrangement.

RE: Ashley Madison hacked - affairs might not be so secret
Food for thought:

1. Take 10 people you know at random.
2. Ask yourself how many of them even know how to grab a torrent file?
3. Furthermore ask yourself how many of them know how to run a grep on a 200mb text file?

Then think about how quickly a DCMA takedown can shut down any site that is reported? Even the mighty piratebay has fallen at the hands of the DCMA and continues to have to fire up mirrors. There are a lot of folks on that site 37 million supposedly. Do we think that maybe just maybe some of them might be in positions of marginal influence? Any site that takes the data and makes it searchable will be taken down and or charged. So where will this data live? The TOR network? How many 30-something housewives or husbands do you know who can get to the data or has the wherewithal to do so?

Anyway again, we shall see.

The short answer to that is the Fappening.

Plenty of people with influence there, and plenty of people with money as well, and notwithstanding threats of legal action and reddit hilariously playing whack-a-mole when the files first got out, you can plain old Google for entire websites hosted openly with all the photos broken down by individual. About the only thing traditional media does well anymore is muckraking into people's personal lives; they will no doubt be interested in leafing through it. As said, we'll see.

RE: Ashley Madison hacked - affairs might not be so secret
Roosh once said something about how nerds will take over the world or something like that. How fitting his prediction will be if this pans out ha! I think the hack is legit. If hackers can turn cloud pass sites into swiss cheese, a mere dating site is nothing. That pic DaveR posted claims they had access for years. I bet their lazy IT or lazy management barely kept up on patching to the extent a bank would. Root once, is root for good usually. There just isn't enough incentive for companies to give a shit about security. Will it get released is anyone's guess, but I think it will be high. Your average company is too arrogant to pay a ransom or give a shit. They will patch their servers, change the passwords, maybe hire a red team to assess and write up a report, and maybe hire a new security person. The upper management and board will pat themselves on the back, like they did a great job on a huge project, and none of them will give a shit about the lives that were ruined. The money has already been made. They could tear down the site and make a new one under a new name and use the earnings from the past site to build it and most mugs will never realize who they were.

If they dump photos, people are fucked. Names don't mean as much as a full on facial shot. You cannot fake your face like your name. The ease of the searching is not for regular users anyway, but someone will index all the faces on a image dump site like imgur. If I was a PI, I would keep a cached copy and build my own search indexes for future work. Google reverse image search will betray many who may have reused photos from other sites on AM. Some corporate managers waiting for their shot at director level or officer level may get fucked over by this when the business intelligence contractors, hired by their company, find hits on the cache. Don't think they won't check it either. They follow people to their kids baseball games to make sure they are good parents.

Where are the RVF lawyers at? Can someone divorce someone else based upon ill gotten evidence of cheating in the first place?

This saga may need a catchy name like The Fappening had. Let's wait and see first though.

In the US a divorce can be filed for any reason or no reason at all. Interesting that this myth of marriage as a system of accountability still persists.

Though there is commonality, like Men getting fucked over, I believe the laws vary quite a bit from state to state.

I agree that there is variability by state, with some differences like community property laws being very significant. However, no-fault divorce is essentially universal.

There are states that have fault divorces. A spouse cheating is fighting uphill somewhat, especially a male. What I was wondering is if the other spouse can use information from this leak as evidence of infidelity against the other spouse, even if this information was originally stolen by hackers. There is basically no chain of custody, but is there even such a thing in family law/court?
