If he was advocating that all black inmates be released from prison as a compensation for racism, then I could more readily see your point.

I think there's this polarizing notion that you are either on the black side or white side. And if you say anything about racism, you are automatically anti-white and siding with ALL black people, even if they are criminals. While I have never had any problem with the cops, there are upstanding black RVF members who have been fucked with by cops. Maybe it is these type of people that guys like Sutherland were trying to defend.

I'm the last one to play armchair hero, but in a situation where a guy is getting stabbed to death and I am locked inside a small space with the assailant, I have to assume that I can't get away and that I will be stabbed next or eventually. Still can't say exactly how things would ultimately turn out, but this is a bit different than seeing something on the street and proclaiming to act like a hero as opposed to be trapped and possibly the next victim if action isn't taken when strength of numbers are still in favor.

Because anyone who speaks about police injustice with terms like "white privilege" isn't concerned with truth or judging cases on an individual basis. Terms like "white privilege" is how thugs like Michael Brown were defended. If the first thing that comes up in a police case is the color of the officer's skin, then you know they aren't even remotely concerned with truth or justice. The thing is, if people were merely concerned with police brutality and police injustice there wouldn't be any need to refer to the skin color of the cop.

Many White men on this forum have been fucked over by cops, myself included. When people claim it's "racism" on the cops part, however, then they are just distracting from the issue and everything becomes emotionally charged.

It was July 4th, with a high dew point/humidity and everyone sweating balls. You do not carry a jacket in this swamp land.

It was daytime, so tourists would represent a higher percentage of those on the car.

This situation is difficult to imagine. First, the guy was on synthetic "marijuana." He was psychotic and not in a rational state.

Also, people these days seem to greatly underestimate the lethality of a knife. People often discuss it as if it is almost a kids toy, rather than the device probably responsible for more homicides in human history than all other forms combined.

The amount of self-defense I know is that the best self-defense against a knife is for you to put as much space between yourself and "the pointy end" (ok, and the slashing blade).

In retrospect, one can think about the possibility that there is a fire extinguisher at the end of the car, but even then, it would be hard to think to use that for anything than a last-resort defense if the assailant is approaching you. Again, to use it for blunt force requires putting yourself closer to the knife. Using it to fog the area limits your visibility and ability to get away from danger.

I have to say, if I see a knife on a closed in Metro train, my first reaction would probably be to flee to the adjacent car and bar the door.

The part that is most disturbing about this story, was the suspect had been arrested on felony assault charges on the 2nd (same situation, grabbed someone and assaulted them), but then the charges were dropped to misdemeanor on the 3rd. This could have been avoided if those in charge had done their job.

There is "often" (not always) one fire extinguisher at the rear of each car (where I think this attack may have been occurring). However, even if you had access to it and sprayed it, it would leave you unable to see the crazed man swinging a sharp blade around in the confusion.

Stabbings are fast. It sounds like this occurred quickly. The guy tried to grab something, a normal response is to grab it back. The suspect cold-cocked him, and then started stabbing him. It wasn't like he wielded a knife, demanded property, the guy refused, and then he stabbed him.

I guarantee it will be massively educational. They have an "asshole face" that would discourage anyone from even thinking about fucking with the, and they know how to give a death star that will make almost anyone who does think about it back down.

Look, I live in the DC area and take metro sometimes. I'm a Republican who hates Obama, hates Hillary, hates feminism, and loves the things Trump is saying.
