I have a small company that barely makes enough to pay me. And it doesn't pay me that much. It's organized as a Sub-chapter S corporation, so it has a solid structure. I get enough to pay one of my bills from it. And this is after buying out most my former partner's stock.
My major source of income is from my freelance writing. I do it as an individual. That money doesn't go anywhere near my company.
I'm thinking about running my writing jobs through the company and creating a DBA ("Doing Business As"). The advantage would be the protection a Sub-chapter S brings to the table. I could also start doing my own E-book publishing through the company.
But I'm not sure if this is the smart thing to do.
Would like to get some opinions on this from the business guru's on this forum.
