Take Me Out
Is there anybody on here that is familiar with the TV gameshow Take Me Out?

I've watched the Irish & British versions of this awful show but according to Wikipedia the series is based on an Australian gameshow called Taken Out and is now airing in Denmark, Indonesia, the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Finland, Spain, China, United States, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Canada (Quebec), South Africa, Estonia, Brazil, Ukraine & Norway.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the format of the show, it's basically one guy presenting himself to 30 women, who can proceed to turn their lights off at any stage if they're not interested in dating him. Furthermore he gets two opportunities to 'prove himself' to these women and if there are still lights on at the end, he gets to date one of the women.

It's actually a rather typical Anglosphere concept, where men are openly humiliated and mocked then have to 'prove there worth' to gain a woman's attention. Obviously if it was the other way around, with one woman and 30 guys, then the feminist movement would be up in arms, even though it would more then likely work out much better for then one female contestant, who would be pretty much be guaranteed a date just for showing up.

The ironic aspect about this ridiculous show is that it gives male viewers from around the world an insight into local women and their different attitudes in several countries around the world. Hence why I'm posting it here.

The show that I'm most familiar with is the Irish show and in typical Irish fashion the women aren't very attractive, carry an extra few pounds, rely on layers of makeup to try and look good and dress like cheap whores. The most glaring aspect for me though is their bad attitudes and ridiculously high standards. Their excuses for turning their lights off are pathetic in most cases and this really does reflect the true nature of the Irish dating game. Anyway at the end of the show only 2 guys got a date out of the 4 contestants, which was a fairly decent result as more guys went home alone then got a date in the whole first series, as far as I can remember.

The video is rather long so skip through it where you can and be thankful that it's only 360p because trust me, you don't want to look as these hoes in high definition!

Now here are some Irish guys on the British version of the show. In my opinion the women on the UK version are generally much better looking then the Irish version with a much more positive/outgoing attitude, plus not too surprising, both guys got a date. Coincidence? Probably not.

So what do you guys think of this bullshit show? Is it better in your home country then in mine (which can't be too difficult)?

I'm not sure I'd agree with this. Every guy on there literally has a choice between 15 different girls to go on holiday with. Sure, the men have to prove their worth to some degree but they are only humiliated if they don't act right. Any guy on their who has his shit together, has a good perceived career and who dresses/looks well often has the pick of the better women on there.

TV in general is mindless garbage but when I do choose to indulge, Take Me Out is a fun show to watch.

Your first sentence really should have been your thread title.

I couldn't edit the title as the 60 minute window to do so had expired.
Oh well, hopefully this thread won't attract too many fans of indie rock or aspiring contract killers.

"I know I won't be leaving here, with you..."

Sounds a little defeatist.

RE: Take Me Out
Yeah I watch it and it is fucking hilarious. You might think it is a false charade but if you are able to observe game in action and female hamsters being nuked, showed up or embarrassed then you should watch it.

Let the bread see the butter.

Any top notch guy who comes on there and shows even a semblance of weakness is given a red light. These women are fucking precious but they are fucking the male contestants behind closed doors and off-screen I assure you. The behind the scenes gossip about this show is eye-opening.

You may get red-lighted by a woman for something naff like loving your mummy but when she meets you in a bar afterwards her legs are open for you.

If you know game, are tall and good looking with an ability to make women wet by talking to them you must go on this show.

RE: Take Me Out
Are the men really 'humiliated' though? I'd say the most humiliating part is that they actually have to go on the show to get a date.

Looking at most of the men on there I'd say they aren't on the show out of desperation. It's probably 'just banter', a chance to be on telly et cetera.

Behind the scenes, the girls all get put in the same hotel for a week and a half while filming, and well, you can imagine what goes on. Even if they don't get picked they're basically already on a free holiday. 30 or so girls of a certain type *cough*slags!*cough* all on a free holiday together?

Imagine the show with genders reversed haha. An 8 or 9 out of 10 comes down the lift. No ones turns their light off. She reveals who she is and what she does, no lights off. A video segment tells the guys that she lives with her mum and is obsessed with stamp collecting. No lights go off. For her 'talent' she dresses up as a clown and juggles badly. No lights go off.

They did an episode where the genders reversed before and it pretty much went the way that you described, which was rather predictable. I think it was in the original Australian version, although I can't find it on YouTube.

They also did a bisexual version on the Dutch show with a female contestant trying to get a date with one of the 30 female panelists. I'd love to see them do that in the Irish version, it would be so awkward to watch!

Its a good show to have a laugh, it can be funny to watch some of the guys and I am sure they choose some of the characters to make the viewer think that they can do much better than the guy on the show.
