This has become a simple test on real and raw smarts. It is very easy to see why Trump is winning they way he is and with the groups he is. Does not matter if you like the guy or not, it is very clear to see why regular humans who work and have families are drawn to Trump.

I shake my head at folks who don't understand why Trump is where he is right now in the race. Either they are to emotional with heavy bias or stupid. Many "smart" people in my life are showing their true colors as being morons.

The man is all action in a world where to many get by with just talk.

You can see the towers he has built.

You can see the happy and stable family and kids he has produced.

You can find the people who he has led talk highly of him.

You can go back decades and find consistent positions and values.

Its not that hard to see why people gravitate towards this versus fraudsters who blow in the wind.

That's really too bad about Ron Paul. I was thinking Trump would choose him as VP after Trump came out about auditing the fed. O well, he can get left behind in the dust with the rest of them.

The self-righteousness in these politicians is simply astounding. They should wonder why an outsider is crushing the field and then take a long hard look in the mirror at themselves. Instead they just get all butthurt and toss around insults. It reminds me of a typical beta that seethes with rage and jealousy at the alpha male, asking themselves, "Why not me?". Many of us were in that position but came to this forum to learn how to improve ourselves and become that alpha instead of whining about it. I've said it before but if one of these candidates was a RVF member, I think they would be much more competitive (or friendly?) with Trump.

To the contrary, Ron is very much a libertarian purist. Trump is a terrible purist candidate, but fares much better as a pragmatic choice since the issues he is more leftist/centrist on are ones that there's no chance in hell anyone could gain traction on.

The residual effects of those aspirations would be amazing. America would naturally be made great again just on the basis of having good role models that inspire self-improvement.

I agree, i watched that interview and I was like "what a nice lady" which is pretty much the pinnacle of compliments for any woman that is married.

I loved her response to Mika's question of "Trump is hard on immigrants, you're an immigrant yourself. Do you think that sometimes he's being too hard?". Mrs. Trump "I followed the law."

Cruz looks like he's going to try and pull one over you. I'm not saying looks are everything, but in an election, it changes a few percentage points, let's be honest.

Nothing wrong with saying that. Look at every presidential election since 1960; I'd argue each person who went on to become president exuded more power and/or charisma than his competition.

Jimmy Carter won because well, Gerald Ford was Gerald Ford; Bush Sr. crushed the limp-wristed Dukakis but was then bested by smooth-talking Slick Willy; and yeah, you can argue correctly that Ford lost due to the Nixon years & Bush was irreparably damaged by the Ross Perot 3rd party candidacy, or maybe this is a bit of a "post hoc ergo propter hoc" fallacy on my part, but it seems to me there's a strong correlation between candidate strength & victory in a presidential election.

I'd argue Romney was the closest but the Obama charisma train was still running at full steam, bit of an incumbent's advantage there.

I'd argue that Bush Jr's appeal was that he was a guy you'd like to have a beer with, while Gore was the annoying intellectual. People just didn't like him on a visceral level. Plus Nader was stealing the ultra liberal vote in that election, and 2000 was so close that I think the case is even stronger that Nader did more damage to Gore than Perot did to Bush Sr.

You say "Smooth talking Slick Willy", I say a guy who has a ton of charisma. Like his politics or not, I don't see how you can deny that Bill Clinton has it. Someone else posted something a few pages back about how people who met Trump said Trump made them feel like "the most important person in the world". You know who that reminds me of?

I remember reading that exact same quote 20 years ago talking about Clinton. Yeah, Perot stole some likely GOP votes. But I still contend that especially in the last 20 years, charisma wins the Presidency. It's been going that way since JFK and the advent of television.
