Hello everyone!

I have been quite figuring out where to spend my summers this year for the internship, and have finally decided on Ukraine - at Kharkiv.

I will straightforwardly come to the point :
- This internship is through an organization I work with. This means I will be able to meet a lot of (English speaking) locals as such...
- I speak some basic Russian and understand the socio-cultural view of the Ukraine and Russia (not much about the girls perspective, though)
- I have a solid 8.75 girl, a prospective bang already - a friend of mine , another 8 girl possible to game etc. (Drops the motivation/aggression level though )
- I am an Indian, without an Indian accent! Though with somewhat weak game...

My problem is that I have really no clue as to how to game these Ukrainians etc. I have understood a bit of Russian/Ukrainian girls' 'ways', but cracking it up is something I am not really good at.

No offence man, but Indians look very much like Gypsies, which are unloved in Ukraine. Everyone thinks of Gypsies as hoboes, bums, thieves, muggers, good-for-nothings basically.
So make sure to avoid giving off a Gypsy impression as best you can - by always dressing up, keeping your mug shaved and perfumed, etc. Once you open your mouth and start speaking intelligent English this will not be a problem, but you know, first impressions count sometimes.

Hmmm... although I dress good and dont look like some Gypsy, still I value your advice. Will be much better if you can give me a link or something to further strengthen my dressing skills.

My real problem lies with the confidence (NOT the nervousness... the pure confidence) and breaking the shell, if you know what I mean.
About the confidence thing - I am not nervous around a girl, given that I am much into public speaking etc. But when it comes to interpersonal relations, I might not feel my ground too strong. Its like, sometimes I feel a bit uneasy. (though its a problem around every girl, not just Ukrainians, and I better post a thread to get insight about the same)

Breaking the shell is what I am looking for

This isnt something that you learn overnight. You need to spend time and money to understand what works for you. That is a ridiculous statement. You can get pretty much anything in India now. A shopping trip to Zara and he will look better dressed than 99% of the Ukrainian guys. They are not exactly known for their dress sense.

My last trip to Europe was in 2007. I bought clothes from Zara and Lacoste. I wore those same clothes to a party of the so called "elites" in Delhi and the the guys in that party were wearing the same stuff that I bought from Paris 3 years ago. Walked into the Zara in Delhi the next day and the clothes that were being sold there were outdated by 3 years. I have worked in the clothing industry and my family has been involved in the industry for over 20 years. That is how these big companies work. There is a lag between Europe and the rest of the world in terms of fashion, the lag increase significantly when you are in Asia, especially India.

Tight fitting jeans were worn by European women in 2005. You know when Indian women learnt about it? In 2010.

My statement wasn't ridiculous, What is ridiculous is to assume that the fashion trends that are being followed in India are the same as those being followed in Europe. Yes, you can get everything in India, but its outdated. Even if you compare it to Ukraine, the clothes will be outdated by at least a year if not more. I have never been to Ukraine so I cannot say for sure.

Moreoever, if its Zara that he will go to buy his clothes from then I don't see any reason why he should buy them from a Zara in India over a Zara in Europe. It will definitely be cheaper if nothing else. Also, he is there to impress the ladies not the men, I don't care if I am better than 99% of the men, I want to be better than the ideal type of the man that 99% of the women have in their minds. And when it comes to fashion women can smell good fashion sense like a dog can smell a bone.

@MiXX: I loved the Mark Nason Sneakers but I am not sure if I can carry those Boots or Slip ons, they will got a female attention, no doubt,but I will feel uncomfortable wearing themm they just dont fit my style.

I don't dispute there is a lag, however I doubt that it is 3 years. Why would Zara be carrying 3 year old inventory in the first place. It would be more expensive to carry and manage. Zara is one company that turns around their collections in a matter of weeks. They don't make more than they need. They are known for their very lean inventory. So, where would they be getting their 3 year old stock to sell in India? I find that very hard to believe. It just doesn't make financial sense for a company like Zara to do this.

They are known for lean inventory not for absolute perfect inventory. And there is a cost involved when it comes to paying designers. They don't incur this same cost when they are selling something that was thought of 3 years ago.

As for inventory when it comes to Inditex, this is how it works:
And I got this from a guy who works for a firm that handles the financial work for Inditex.

Europe (France, Spain and Italy): First preference
Rest of Europe: Second Preference
Latin America :Third preference
Asia (Excluding Japan): Fourth preference

It makes perfect financial sense to sell in India what was rejected in Europe. I dont know if you know this but when designers design something they are guessing the fashion, they cant guess a fashion trend with 100% accuracy. If its rejected or if the inventory is too large, sell it in India. why? Because Indians buy stuff because of the label not because it looks good. Zara is considered a big brand in Asia and the Americas, in Europe its just another brand like H&M and Springfield.

And then the other side of the story is the consumer. If you sell the latest fashion in India then the consumer is not going to buy it because that is not what everyone is wearing and he won't understand the fashion.

I am not talking out of my ass here. You are nitpicking, its common knowledge that Europe is more advanced in terms of fashion.This is common knowledge for anyone who is involved in the clothing industry or knows about fashion. What does not make financial sense is to sell the clothes that are fashionable in India in Europe.

Go to the Zara website, if it were the same clothes that were being sold all over the world then they wont have a different site for every region. Forget about Asia, look at the Lookbook difference between Spain and Canada.

I think I am done here. After all this evidence, I do not care what you do or do not believe. You can go onto believe that Unicorns exist for all I care.

This argument is a little silly, do they not have all the designer shops in Mumbai. My indian friend told me they have Diesel stores etc, c'mon we are not talking Papau New Guinea. Plus what is so special about Zara, the shit is probably made in India or some sweat shop in a third world country. Why do you think it is so cheap!!!

The comment about gypsy's is a little rude in my estimation, I understand Bollywood movies are big in Russia and the girls are into all that Romance crap. I am sure Ukrainian girls aren't much different. My advice is to walk tall and confident, I will assume you will be clean shaven, well groomed etc. Since you will be a rare site there, make the girls come to you.

I am sure you will be fine, just be careful of the men. They may not like the attention you are getting.

They even have Calvin Klein, Armani, Tommy Hilfiger and Versace in India. That was not my point. My point is that its OUTDATED. Its interesting that you mentioned Papau New Guinea. Toyota came with their first car in India sometime around the year 2000. The model that they were selling at that time was the Qualis. The only other place that this same model was being sold was Africa. It had been discontinued everywhere else. Indians are so hungry for big labels that they will buy whatever crap these companies sell, they will flash it around but little do they know that the crap that they bought is out of fashion in most parts of the world.

What is special about Zara is the money they invest into the designing, if you are thin then their clothes fit perfect. You think big brands like Calvin Klein etc dont use sweat shops?

One of the things I liked about Ukraine is that education and sensitivity don't mark you as some sort of Beta pariah.

It's a second world country, and education is an important tool in obtaining status and survival, or at least shows you are smart-- even though
a car dealer may make more than a doctor, I believe the idea of being Kulturny or cultured is valued to some degree. You know, like in the USA (sarcasm off).

My impression is you can't get as far with aggressiveness alone in that kind of environment like you can as an entrepeneur in the USA.

I taught an elite high school class as a visitor there and went over "The Seven Habits of Highly Successful People" They looked like they thought
I was from Mars. "You can't just open a business," they told me. The powers that be would basically threaten you if you tried to go into
competition with them. I don't know how right they were.

In the former Soviet Union WRITERS were treated like rock stars. compare that to a country that elected W.

Gypsies may have come from India but hundreds/thousands of years and cultural selection means a middle class Indian guy is vastly, vastly different than Gypsies and I think the kind of Ukranians you're interested in will be smart enough to realize that.

Also many gypsies have acculturated to modern society. I had a Ukrainian GF who was 1/8 gypsy. Nomadic, fringe lifestyles are something a lot of people want to escape. I think it was her great-grandfather that assimilated.

Kharkiv is a big city with great nightlife and a young population due to it being a university town. What´s dope is supposedly it doesn´t get cleared out during the summer like other university towns because the students cant afford to do lots of travelling. I plan to spend some time there next year too. I´m sure you´ll have a blast.

OMG!
Guys, I was a little shocked at how 'Ukraine in Summers' became a ' How to dress in Summers' thread! I am glad you guys responded... but I dont think I lag behind at all when it comes to fashion/dressing.
I am more into the 'professional' mode usually, if you know what I mean. Wearing something 'hip' and 'trendy' isn't something I'd prefer - I stay on wearing normal clothes, like a decent polo shirt with jeans etc.

In fact, I just met 1 Russian and 2 Czech people, and all of the 3 actually complimented me on my dressing sense (they are exchange students here) I don't really think dressing should be a problem. Although, it is the looks which I am much more concerned about, as in hairstyle and skin care etc. But I'd rather look on the previous threads and learn from there.

Guys, it is the game in Kharkiv which is the objective of this thread
