You, yourself and your circle
I've recently come to a chilling yet amazing conclusion.
I no longer, relate or want to be friends with 90% of my current social circle.
I recently moved back to CLE from Los Angeles. I assumed, nothing had changed. I was wrong. Everything changed, or more specifically I HAD CHANGED. I saw the world as bigger and better. A world of opportunities.
At first I thought I was the problem, that I was weird. I wasn't. I'd seen and experienced things that those at home could never imagine.
I moved out there to be a screenwriter, I had meeting after meeting with "money people". They all loved the script but the money fell through.
I ended up homeless, living in my 2001 mustang. I was never unhappy in those days. i know this sounds crazy but in my heart I knew I was doing it for a purpose.
After nearly a year my clutch blew. I couldn't move my car and it got towed. That was the end of my LA life.
I moved back to Cleveland. My brother and I got an apartment.
I started hanging with my old friends, and it was fun until they started just being the same people they had always been.
They hadn't changed a bit, same problems same people. Thats when it hit me. Change is the best and worst thing that will ever happen to you.
Be prepared! When you make choices to buck trends and throw social conditioning to the side, you feel better and empowered but those you have been closest to feel abandoned and betrayed.
They will make you feel like the outcast, the bad apple.
They will make you feel like the scourge to society.
Embrace the hate, the judgement. They only do it because you had the balls to do it. No one hates, or tries to embarrass any one when they feel superior.
When those you have known the longest begin complaining about your changes, then you know you're on the right path.
Embrace this community, there will be time when you've lost those you've known the longest. It's okay. We have all been there.
Growth, is hard and fulfilling. It takes away and gives even greater gifts, STAY THE COURSE[/align]
