Venue Selection?
What criteria are you using for choosing nightgame venues to go out to?

For me:
-No cover charge (or $5 at most)
-Can't be crowded
-Avoid any place that has loud music everywhere in the venue
-Can't be too bottle service oriented

RE: Venue Selection?
A fantastic smoking area is one of the things I look for most in a venue. If the smoking area also has a bar then it's a double win for me. Simply no need to leave that spot in such cases. I have terrible dance floor game and only dance if I like the song that's playing. There's a bar I go to from time to time that has, in the smoking area, two bars and a bbq. Inside has three bars and two dance floors.

RE: Venue Selection?
Things to look for in good nightgame venues:

- At least one dancefloor. Dance is such an easy way to escalate with chicks that anyone running nightgame is a fool not to use it.

- Multiple rooms/floors. This assists in isolation since it's a lot easier for friends to cockblock when you can't move her out of line of sight.

- Separated smoking section. The easiest nightgame approaches that you'll ever make.

- Plentiful amounts of couches or lounge seating. Also aids in escalation.

- Little to nothing in the way of bottle service or tables. This helps in mingling and keeps the venue from being too social-circle oriented.

Me?

1) Do I see a bunch of white dudes wearing
- khakis/dockers
- shorts
- cargo shorts
- flip flops
- baseball caps with sweat stains looking like coffee

- guidos in jeans and party shirts

- guys looking like extras from a Vineyard Vines ad

AVOID

2) Bunch of hipster looking white dudes mixed with a variety of chicks

YES

3) Lotta chicks looking like this in line?

YES (all things considered though)

4) Day Game/Festival/Concert

HELL YES.

5) If I see ball caps or Jordans

Naw, not gonna be able to get relaxed in a testosterone baller fest. Athletes, rappers, dope boys, muscled up cats. There's always a few dudes in a suit at them spots playing the bar, but I no longer want to hear Migos, Rich Homie Quan and Dej Loaf at 110 dbs.

Otherwise
- I avoid transplant/middle class/suburban spots, or any where those people might go. In Houston, that means Midtown. In DC, it means Northern Virginia.
- Dj is super important
1) good programming - like he's not playing bangers all night

2) good song selection - he's playing a mix of hip hop, R&B, reggae, classics, breaks

3) good mixing - he plays most of the song, instead of chasing the 1st verse "high"

- Cover - I don't care about, but usually if you pay cover the place is either trying to keep a certain element, it's too young (fights), or it's lame. I get burned more often than I win with cover.

- Dress code - double edged sword. Being black there are some spots that aren't gonna let me in because my neck tie is too baggy. ('cism). But at the same time, I'm not really hitting up spots where I see dudes in wife beaters. I also don't fuck with designer crowd. If it looks like you could shoot an ATL style rap video, i'm avoiding it.

My favorite spots are
- have great music, great dj's
- mixed crowd
- smaller venue, like a small club or a bar with a dance floor

I don't fuck with
- mega clubs (I used to love them spots, now I'm either too old or I just don't feel em)
- lounges - they can be cool, but there's a lot of fishbowl effect
- sports bars - I don't want a girl who goes to a sports bar, period.

Might dip into a
- dive bar
- high end mixology type place

A lot of it depends on your game though. I like to have a good time when I go out. So if the music is off, or the crowd is a bunch of lames, it really doesn't matter how cute the girls are.

The best parties, I've found, tend to be on off nights, when the civilians stay at home.

RE: Venue Selection?
Venue selection is always relative to the style of game you have.

For covers: I used to advocate not paying more than $5, but due to inflation I think you can raise it to $10 now. Unfortunately. Even then, I try to avoid most covers now. I seriously have more fun running street game than I do trying to yell through loud music in an overpriced night club.
