Fraid I don't have much more info to provide, we were in several tapas bars in Sevilla and Cordoba, no clubs as such, and we just stayed in standard basic hotels during our trip, but in terms of bars, the one place that stood out was in Sevilla - opposite the Giralda(Catedral), it was called 'EME'
Very stylish fashion hotel with restaurant and a rooftop bar looking out onto the Giralda, not cheap though, paid 25 euro for two mojitos!
Plenty of very attractive young women in our midst (admittedly some of them were bar/hotel staff) but the overall vibe was friendly and cool and I'd recommend anyone to check it out if you're in the city

I will be hitting Tarifa, Marbella, Seville, Las Palamas, Mallaga etc. I have invites from friends in few of the places. I can dress well but not gonna be throwing $$$.

Any thoughts/ tips? Or is it all only high baller game?

Bump:

Its looking more and more likely that Im going to move to Granada early next year for 3 or 4 months and try and get my Spanish locked down before a possible move to Buenos Aires. Theres bits and pieces on it but nothing solid, anyone got any intel? I know its a massive student town. Been before for a weekend but I was completely smashed the whole time and hardly remember anything.

I've got friends down there so will be walking straight into social group which I imagine will help alot with the locals.

There are a lot of places to learn spanish that are far cheaper and much easier to get laid in than granada (spain as a whole). Also the spanish they speak in spain sounds retarded. They have got a major problem with lisps. Many south americans mock them apart from chileans who i hear are owners of the most retarded sounding spanish known to man.

I was only in granada 2 days, what i could tell from that was its cheaper than everywhere else i was in spain only being beaten by alicante. And there seemed to be a pretty big arab influence there, if you go to the oasis backpackers hostel, the streets around there are like something from Aladdin.

I didnt bang a fucking thing on my spain trip only getting a handjob of an ugly american chick and that was in portugal so doesnt really count. Saying that my spanish was retarded and so was I at the time. To go to a place like peru and fuck pretty hot chicks with little hassle, the memory of spain has become a shitty one. When things can be set up so highly in your favour in other spanish speaking countries, other than a fear of having no social circle, (which there should be no fear of at all) its hard to think why anyone would bother with spain.

What do you mean by quality of life? Your money is going to get you a lot more in the countries mentioned than in spain.

Before i went to peru i did pimseur upto level 2. This was enough to bang assuming your not ugly and your a gringo.

A lot of people i met traveling south america for 6-12 months told me they enrolled on 3 month courses in the cheaper countries. They're spanish seemed really decent. I know when i return to a latin america ill be doing something similar to this. Pretty sure krausers mate burto did this in central america. He had a blast from what it says on his blog.

Might also want to consider checking out mendoza over buenos aires. I havnt been to either but from what i gather on the forum, being a gringo in mendoza isnt a bad thing.

If quality of life and comfort is what you are looking then Spain is perfect for those 4 months of study. Spain is one of my favourite countries in that regards too. Though once you see the desperation and horniness of the dudes there, it is hard to go back. The friends I made, when I lived there, couldnt get enough of my stories of how easy new york city girls are. If it wasnt for the many latin american chicks who live in Spain, those poor guys would be miserable.

Anyway Granada is really cheap, I may already be able to have a room in a really nice apartment for 180 Eur a month. Then you can live really easy off around 100 Eur a week I have been told. If you factor in the flight cost this would be cheaper than going to Colombia or somewhere in LA.

Lastly there is hardly any data on Granada here but I know its a huge student town and people from all over Spain move there to study. Something like 80000 of 270000 are students and that's why its so cheap. You never know, could be a gem if you set yourself up properly.

Granada
Pros:
- Cheap
- Beautiful town
- Many students
- Free tapas
- Reasonably good nightlife (specially for its size)

Neutral
- Quite a few tourists
- Many hippies (they stay in the outskirts of the city)
- Many gypsies
- Irregular terrain makes you tired to walk around
- Large expat/student exchange student community. You might end up in foreigners circles speaking english

Negative
- Spanish-style grouping and befriending: it's hard, if not impossible, to be one of them. It is very unlikely you'll be taken in as a regular friend. Hopefully you'll have some luck.

Tip: Couchsurf the hell out of the place. Huge student community means lotsa couchsurfers. If I were you, I wouldn't bang the actual couchsurfers (at least not for a while). Use them to infiltrate social circles.

All in all, good place.


Questions to you: since you plan on moving to Argentina, why don't you just go there? You'll save on 2 plane tickets and Argentina is much cheaper and with a very different accent.

And have you considered other towns in Spain? How about Valencia? Salamanca?

Cheers Ringo, sounds good.

Basically I want to go to Granada first because I already have a few local Spanish friends who live there so Ill have ready access to a huge social group. I figured this will be so much better for my spanish than going somewhere else solo where you inevitably end up only speaking spanish in class and then hanging out with English speakers the rest of the time (of course also have an in with some Spanish chicas). Also its cheap as, is only 45 mins from the ski fields and 1 hour from the beach. You can go skiing in the morning and to the beach in the afternoon!

Plus this is going to be a sort of mini-retirement whereas in Argentina I want to try for a proper job and be able to hit the ground running with my Spanish ( I know the accents/some words are different but if you have it down it shouldnt be too hard to adapt). Flights cost nothing to Granada also, can get Ryanair to Malaga.

If it werent so, then youd have many forum members talking about killing it with the local women in Madrid, Ibiza, Valencia, Barcelona, etc. Still havent heard any foreigner who consistently does very well there (though I am sure there are exceptions)......in that sense it is similar to Argentina. So Im all booked for Granada, gonna do a Spanish course for maybe 3 months. I still cant find any solid info on the place so Ill hopefully be able to provide some decent intel. Hopefully some silly stories and adventures too.

My ex girlfriend and I did a trip to Cadiz and Malaga last year and I really enjoyed myself, I love the attitude in Andalucia very laid back and relaxed, the beach was nice and it was very good price wise! I would recommend it! Not a lot going on compared to Barcelona or Madrid but still really relaxing, nice place to be!

So arrived in Granada yesterday. First impressions are that its really a stunning little town - beautiful architecture, loads of amazing streets and alleyways, surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Cheap cheap cheap too, a beer is 1.50/2 Euro with a free plate of tapas. You can easily have 5 beers and dinner for less than 10. The girls, hmmm loads of kinda cute girls but yet to see a stunner. I get the feeling this is going to be an all out war to get anything though. Going to a huge party at the biggest disco in town tonight so am keen to see what the talent will be like.

Just curious, what is it about Mediterranean countries that make the women so prude and cliquish? Spain, Italy and Greece and by extension Argentina are amongst the hardest places in the west to get any action. There must be an underlying reason for that.
