Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said part of the altercation that preceded Sunday’s biker gang shooting at Twin Peaks started in a restroom, spilled into bar, then into the parking lot.

At least two of the gangs were trying to do some recruiting in the area Sunday, and Twin Peaks was a known place for that kind of activity, Swanton said. Multiple law enforcement sources confirmed that the Bandidos and Cossacks biker gangs were at the center of the incident.

“In 34 years of law enforcement, this is the most violent crime scene I have ever been involved in,” Swanton said.

“There is blood everywhere. We will probably approach the number of 100 weapons.”

“What happened here today could have been avoided ... They failed and this is what happened,” referring to the Twin Peaks local management.

“Next door were families dining in Don Carlos,” he added. “Twenty-five feet away there were families.”

Swanton continued, “This is one of the worst gun fights we’ve ever had in the city limits. They started shooting at our officers.”

He added, “None of our innocent civilians were injured today in this melee.”

Officials are interviewing people of interest in multiple areas, he said, and while there are no other active crime scenes, there have been scuffles and disturbances throughout the city.

“The unfortunate side of gangs such as these is that they work intel just like we do,” he said.

Central Texas Marketplace was closed entirely Sunday because of additional bikers coming to the scene, including the three arrested earlier.

These biker gangs are usually some of the worst gangs because they are generally more organized. They are tougher to get membership than other gangs so people are less likely to snitch which helps them get away with their crimes. They also reward members with patches for violent crimes like rape, assault and murder.

We just had a biker gang brawl in my city but not any where close as large or deadly.

Now another question to be answered. Did the police fire back when they were getting shot at?

They're not the worst at all. Motorcycle clubs rarely murder or target civilians. They're not out there doing home invasions to rob random people or drive by shootings as gang initiation.

They also don't have patches for rape. That's a lie that law enforcement would want you to believe. They have patches for a lot of things, but not rape.

I've heard the exact same thing. In some places, notably California, a competent criminal defense attorney can kill it representing biker gangs.

There are rumors that biker gangs sometimes kidnap young women and force them into prostitution. I remember a few years ago seeing an episode of Unsolved Mysteries in which they concluded that a young woman who disappeared from a town in California had likely been kidnapped by outlaw bikers. Growing up a I also heard stories from people in the northwest US that girls sometimes disappeared when biker gangs were around. I don't know if it's true or not.

When I was a lot younger I sometimes went to strip clubs that were managed by biker gangs, so sometimes the biker dudes would come in to check things out. I remember they were huge, like football players.

The restaurant is being crucified for hosting the meet up. Like they knew this shit was going to happen. They are most likely being vilified for hosting masculinity that blew its stack over a parking spot.

That manager hopefully is shitcanned, the cops KNEW this was going down, and TOLD the manager don't do this.

There was plenty of warning and the cops were even there monitoring the meet up.

This was just a powder keg waiting to explode.

The fact no cops or bystanders were wounded is a miracle.

I read a book a few years ago by an FBI agent who went undercover into the Hells Angels in California. Complete page turner. Highly recommended. Here's the link to the amazon page.

One thing I always take from these 'inside the mob' kind of things is how utterly unglamorous it all is. Constantly looking over your shoulder, whether you're undercover or not, and basically surviving on very little money.

The interesting thing to note is that there is a good number of mestizos here. These mug shots come from both sides of the shootout. I'm wondering whether it was whites on one side and mestizos on the other. Or it could very well be that the biker gangs are "integrated," which would make them a huge exception in the American criminal landscape, where gangs tend to exist along racial lines. I guess the "tolerance" of today's Anglos exists even among the criminal element.
