An "open mind" doesn't mean giving equal weight to all ideas. It means being open to new facts as you learn them.

This. Also bear in mind that whether someone is straight or not is completely self-reported. I suspect that many of the "straight" guys getting HIV are not being totally honest about their sexuality.

I think the CDC does a good job of addressing that. What I call gay men they call "Men who have sex with men (MSM)."

Quote:Right, but in Russia there is 960,000 HIV cases right now, up from 170,000 ten years ago. 200 healthy people get infected with HIV in Russia every day. Being any one in 200 is not very far fetched, especially just asking for it by raw dogging with questionable girls.

I doubt that HIV, even in Russia, is striking at random. I recall seeing studies of female hookers in Russia, and HIV was less common if the hookers never did needle drugs. If they did do needle drugs, HIV was very common. Even if she has HIV, the rate of transmission from woman to man for vaginal sex is pretty low. If you avoid hookers, junkies and men, you should be fine.

In Cuba I'd wager they are reclassifying non-Aids diseases and deaths as Aids. They do that in Southern Africa a lot as well. Especially with TB. Can't really say why. There is a shit load of money involved. From the "NGO's" (Charities) all the way up to the Pharmaceutical companies. Everybody wants their cut.

Not saying that Aids doesn't exist, obviously. Just saying that there is massive (financial) incentive to misdiagnose other diseases as Aids. Cuba has a very large, but poorly trained, core of doctors and other medical staff. If they can create a publicity campaign around an Aids threat in their nation, with the relaxation of US-Cuba relations there's the possibility they'll finally be able to score some actual money.

RE: New AIDS Strain in Cuba
IV drugs are non prevalent in Cuba. Drugs in general including marijuana are used at very low rates. (Think lower than 1% of the population use it with any sort of frequency) Most normal girls will look at you like an alien if you start talking about marijuana in Cuba. I've had that experience with my last 2 LTR's there. Neither of which had even seen it before. (Crazy to think that 2 girls working as dancers wouldn't have seen it considering their exposure to Cuban musical and acting elites)

In North America drugs are used across all demographics.

By contrast in Cuba drugs are seen as more "hardcore." It's not uncommon for Hustlers to use them and hookers but they haven't reached much of the demographic beyond that. Part of the reason for this is that they are exceedingly expensive to the average Cuban and hustlers can on occasion make quick cash. I.e. a sale of a box of cigars that profits them $20.

As to HIV statistics. Last I read Cuba supposedly has a 0.05% rate of infection. (That to me seems exceedingly low) There is a very large homosexual population and a large amount of prostitution. Although the appearance of rampant prostitution may be due to their tendency to congregate in areas where tourists and nightlife are and for it to be in the public eye as opposed to behind closed doors. There is also atleast historically a lack of internet access that likely prevents knowledge about STDs from being fully understood. The last 2 girls I've dated have said lots of people have STDs there and were concerned about the risks.

On the flip side condoms are exceptionally cheap there. (I believe the rate is about 4 cents...for those of you like me in Canada about 5 cents) - They are of terrible quality and in my experience, dry out and slip rather quickly.

One night stand culture amongst the non-pro population isn't as prominent simply because discos, bars are exceedingly expensive for the majority of the population.

Cuba if anything has under reporting of HIV cases rather than over reporting.

Little bit off topic, but what's the consensus on the high HIV/AIDS rates in sub Saharan Africa. Are most guys on the DL? Don't know if IV drug use is that high. Seems to be high rates of Hetero sexual relations that are leading to the high infection rates.

HIV is very hard to catch by rawdogging. You are much more likely to catch other diseases like Chlamydia, Syplillis, and shit like that before getting the ultimate virus.

The odds:
If you fuck a HIV+ girl with no condom, the transmission rate is 0.04%, or 4 transmissions per 10,000 exposures.

Cuba had reportedly recently solved mother-to-fetus transmission of HIV. Maybe this is the virus mutating as a result of that biological stimuli?
