Don't do it in most circumstances. The last time it happened to me, changing date venues was a disaster. I met a woman from Ukraine in a U.S. bookstore and she pulled this maneuver on me about 30-60 minutes before a date happened. The date ended up at a place with poor logistics and I ended up seated at a table instead of side by side at a bar. She also managed to order food, and fidgeted with her phone a lot. She was a bad person, but it didn't help the cause that I lost control of the logistics there.

It's happened to me only in DC.

A girl said she didn't like my bar choice.
I nexted her. Bad sign if a girl is not going to be easygoing to just go anywhere with you.

However, if you are on a date and a girl tries to pull you somewhere, I would definitely go with the flow.
One of my longer-term mini relationships started when I let a girl pull me to a friends birthday party that was happening next door to our date. She said she just wanted to "swing by". I was hesitant at first. We hung out at this club with table service, danced, had a good time and at the end of the night it was a great date - because I got validation from her friends as well.
We went back to my place and banged. One of my favorite dates in the pantheon of my dating actually because something spontanous and fun happened...
