Not quite. Aegon came right across the sea with no allegiances and just took the Seven Kingdoms outright. That is ruling by right of conquest.

Robert Baratheon, as with pretty well every other lord in the Seven Kingdoms, had sworn allegiance to the Targaryen throne, whether personally or by dint of his family's position. Rebellion is not achieving rule by right of conquest, hence why he's called the usurper -- because he usurped the throne.

Of course, as Dany and Stannis both show us, a right to the throne does not make it yours.

The Sand Snakes do give the show a chance to hammer us with feminst grrl power though.

Btw, the Sand Snakes are just Oberyn's daughters. Doran's daughter, Arianne, has been cut from the show, as has his son Quentyn - very strange since they are critical to the plot of the books, and to the larger Dornish Master Plan.
The Quentyn storyline was terrible in the books.

I think his excision is significant. If Bran ends up warging the dragons then it won't matter who owns them.

Is the Quentyn storyline terrible if he successfully stole a dragon and then faked his death?

I guess someone else can do that in the show.

I bet the actor who plays Tommen couldn't believe his luck when he found out he was actually going to jump into bed with Margaery in the series, because in the books he's too young (even by ASoIF standards) and spends most of his time playing with his stationery. Especially as Natalie Dormer has spent the whole series of GoT with a facial expression that screams "I do anal".

Also good to see Roose B back in action.

I personally think that one of the Starks are going to take the iron throne.

Bran is going to warg a dragon and help the war effort for the throne.

Arya is going to pick off her Lannister enemies one by one.

Sansa is a dark horse, she is becoming quite a diplomatic and shrewd little cunt.

Sansa is going to rule the kingdoms with little Tyrion on the small council by her side (I predict that daenerys will be killed and Sansa will welcome Tyrion into her inner circle).

It's going to be exciting to see how the Martells fit into all of this.

I can see Jon Snow taking the iron throne, and pulling down the wall.

I assumed Bran warging the dragons would be to destroy the White walkers.

I haven't read the books though, so I'm probably completely off base.

I'm actually thinking Arya's highly likely to wind up murdering Sansa. Our little sociopath's still carrying a lot of butthurt around with her about Sansa being the favourite, good-looking sister, and it wouldn't surprise me if GRRM decided to be sadistic like that. Either that, or a sugary piece of crap where Arya is put under pressure and foregoes her training as a Faceless Man and refuses to offer Sansa to the Red God.

Earlier in this thread, someone posted the videos of the dornish master plan. It is long, and meticulous, and they are playing the long game to win.

I am hoping for some major reveal with maester marwyn, either a POV chapter, or some sort of explanation. His students off of the top of my head include Oberyn, Qyburn, Miri Maz. The Dornish have apparently already stolen one of the dragons, and bound it.

IF I had to guess with what I know right now with the winds of winter chapters being out, I would guess that Jon Snow/Jon stark/ Jon Targareon ends up on the iron throne after winter comes and the white walkers wipe out half of the population. He likely is the prince that was promised and azor azai reborn.

I would not mind if stannis ended up on the throne though.

I really don't think any of the "major" characters is going to sit the Iron throne in the end. They're mostly going to die doing something crazy/heroic/fulfilling prophecy.

Sweetrobin and Shireen will sit the Iron throne if it still exists.

There are only 3 left: meryn Trent, who cersei just sent to bravos to guard mace tyrell, the mountain, who is undead right now, and cersei, who is rapidly self destructing. The problem is that I don't really see much left for her to do in the show? I am guessing she kills meryn trent in the next couple of episodes, gets blinded and then finishes her training and gets her vision back. But by that point, what else is there for her to do?

Quote:It's going to be exciting to see how the Martells fit into all of this.

Exciting isn't really the right word. Winter is coming(along with an army of white walkers), and so is a targarean army

I am hoping littlefinger has some sort of master plan, because right now, the show is making him out to be a colossal idiot.

My other concern is that is looks like dany is about out of advisors, maybe little worm is still alive, but on the show, barristen the bold is dead. On the show I guess it's possible she accepts both jorah mormont and tyrion as advisors, because she needs the help for a westeros invasion, if there is going to be one?

Here are my predictions for next weeks episode: one of the sand snakes kills bron, and arya stark kills meryn trent by drowning him at the docks. because, you know, grrl power. What was the point of killing the dornish ship captain who told them that Jaime Lannister is in Dorne? That was being helpful, why torture and kill someone who is helping you?

Right now the sand snakes are being painted as bloodthirsty lunatics. I'll be really disappointed if on the show it turns out that Doran has no master plan and he just says "fuck it".

i am more curious about how the conflict in the north gets resolved. Roose seems to be setting up his son to be the fall guy and will escape, regroup and sacrifice his son?

What exactly is stannis' plan?

I. Crush Wildings.
II. Gain loyalty of Mountain Clans.
III. Gain loyalty of Bear Island.
IV. Take Deepwood Motte.
V. Take Torrhen's Square & The Dreadfort.
VI. Fuck up Boltons.
VII. Take Winterfell.
VIII. Gain loyalty of Karhold.
IX. Get Rickon.
X. Gain loyalty of Last Hearth & White Harbor.
XI. Take Barrowton.
XII. Take Moat Cailin.

where does 'finishing the walking dead north of the wall' fit in? or marching south? I doubt he bothers to invade kings landing again. If he does survive all of this, along with the zombie invasion, will he have an army left to invade the south? maybe if they are severely weakened by dany, or he may just decide to use the prophecies to win the hearts and minds of the people and kill all the white walkers

All this is assuming George R.R. Martin doesn't keel over before he irons out the plotline.

I'm pretty sure John Snow is ridiculously foreshadowed to be the End Ruler of the Kingdoms.

Did you do that on purpose?

In Chinese kung fu mythology

Yin energy is feminine energy

Yang energy is masculine energy

Certain styles couldn't be learned by men and women because of the mix of the energies. There is the famous myth about Dongfai Bubai who found the "sunflower manual" which was like the most powerful kung fu technique or something. . .but it required him to become a Eunic. . .so he did, and became lengendarily strong. . . he also looked like a tranny after learning the technique or something, funny thing is many Chinese kung fu stories that use that story portray him as a female lol but he's actually a dude. but yeah. when you mentioned that and Varys and LF respectively it made me chuckle and think of that.

If Jon Snow become King that would be so predictable and cliche and following fantasy trope. GRRM says the ending will be bittersweer. So maybe Jon will be king but he will missing an arm or something.

I think it will be bittersweet because 80% of our favorite characters will be dead. It wouldn't shock me to see any number of people end up on the iron throne, or to see littlefinger topple the iron throne in favor of a merit based society

It could easily end up being someone we really don't think it could be, like bran, or one of the dornish.

If its one of the sand snakes, I will laugh. but you know, grrl power and all.

making someone like stannis, or khaleesi or jon snow end up ruling after killing the zombies up north would be a little too obvious.

RE: aSoIaF/ Game of Thrones Official Book Series Thread [Spoilers/Theories Welcome]
Guys look at my earlier post. There is no way one of the Sandsnakes rules on the Iron throne -they are bastards for starters - and there is almost no way Jon Snow rules on the throne either.

I think some of you guys haven't read the books carefully enough, or are maybe mixing the show with the books. Most of the time if something is said outright, or foreshadowed too heavily, then that means that it is definitely 100% not going to happen.

Jon Snow will not sit the Iron throne. What's more likely is Arya being Azor Ahai reborn and driving "needle" through wolf Ghost-Jon's heart or something spectacular like that. [I don't really think that will happen either]

Bran will probably spend the entire rest of the story in the Childrens' cave and communicate through Weirwoods. Jon will probably spend some time as Ghost, then have his body reanimated, and then die again doing something heroic.

Littlefinger, as much as I like him, is probably going to die at some point also. The curse of Harrenhall and the "Sansa will slay a giant in a castle made of snow" prophecy are Chekov's guns that can't really be ignored. Remember that Petyr is from Bravos, and his house used the Titan as their sigil before he made it the Mockingbird.

Theon will not die. He is on the most epic redemption arc ever and is finally on the road to finding himself. Arnolf Karstark is going to be sacrificed as "Theon" and the real Theon will be used by Stannis to rally the Ironborn to his cause and beat the Boltons.

Dany, man I fucking hate Dany, but she clearly mirrors Jon Snow so she will have some heroic part to play also. I also do not think that Dany is who she thinks she is, just like Jon isn't who he thinks he is. The House with the Red Door is also 100% in Dorne, and not Bravos. I don't know if she will die, but I think that her end will be similar to Jon's - that is, away from the Iron Throne, and more involved in the more magical aspects of the story.

Two people who have been marked to 100% die are Robert Arryn, and Shireen Baratheon. Both will therefore 100% live. Sweetrobin is most likely a skinchanger or greenseer and is connected to magic. He gets this from his Tully blood, which is linked to Harrenhall.

Shireen comes from a Targaryen line and also possibly a divine bloodline [Read here, and here] - descending from the daughter of the Storm God and Wind Goddess through the female line. Add to this her close contact with the weird/mystical/sinister? Patchface, and you have a lot of magic going around.

I have always said that in the history of Westeros it is the powers of Harrenhall/Ironborn/Drowned God and Dragonstone/Targaryens/Fire God? that seem to be at odds. A Sweetrobin-Shireen marriage seems very likely.

The wildcards however are Aegon and Arieanne - I have no idea what Aegon will do, and I have no idea how the complicated Dornish master plan will work out. I am very tempted to believe however Aegon is the son of Illyrio, and the Nephew of Varys, and has a Blackfyre and also Brightflame bloodline.

I think a huge deal is the fact that GRRM said we will be going to Highgarden and Casterly Rock in tWoW. Highgarden is huge because there is much more to the Tyrells than meets the eye.

Historically the people of the Reach have been bitter enemies of the Dornish. The Tyrells also personally have a feud with the Martells, the most recent reason being that Oberyn crippled the heir to Highgarden [Wilas Tyrell] in a tourney joust. Wilas is not in the show, but he will play a big role in the books. What do I mean? Well while one would assume that Wilas hates Oberyn, he has apparently been corresponding with Oberyn for many years. He has been very busy studying god knows what ever since his accident. Seems to me that he is a scholar much like Oberyn himself who studied at the Citadel and in Essos for many years. I wonder if Wilas is involved with the Dornish Master Plan. Wilas also has a Hightower mother, and that makes me think that he is certainly involved with the Hightower Master Plan - a house that has long been fascinated with scholarship, magic, and the Faith of the Seven.

This book needs to come out ASAP. the fucking show is making everything seem stupid - with no rhyme or reason.

You don't get there till you get there

I finished the series with A dance with dragons a few years ago and that book was a real let down.
I'm really disappointed, the series started off great but it seemed to fizzle out and ramble at the end.

Something should really happen in the next book for me to pick up the series again where it left off, but I'm not counting on it. 4 years, I completely lost track of where the story lines were. I don't follow the show since its pretty much the book on television.

Totally forgot about this thread. but Here's a couple of Vids you may be interested in.

One thing I wanted to add, and to reason why I argue that GRMM is secretly Blue pill is Rhegar and Lyanna.

It's pretty obvious that Lyanna ran away with Rhegar, instead of being "Kidnapped." Alpha Fucks, Beta Bucks. I think GRMM does a good job of Hiding Red Pill Truths by putting some grrrl power covering over it with Dany's part in the story,m so that people who "don't recognize game"* won't realize that he's been spittin' some truths for a w h i l e.

Also, I really think GRMM has the basic ideas and the end of his story mapped, but just writing and making all of the parts fit in a decent literary way is what's been the issue with finishing it. I do the same thing when I write my music sometimes. I know what the general idea of the song is going to be, and in some cases, even have the beginning and the end already written, but just filling in all the blanks while giving the listener a great experience is HARD, but it must be done, and must be done right.

* = "Game Recognize game" a popular black saying meaning that people with game, can recognize when game is being used or when someone's trying to use game on them.

What the deal with Bolton and his fat wife?

Your woman doesn't have to be a dime... but she shouldn't be a 2/10 WNB either.

In episode 5, Ramsey said to him when he was told she was pregnant:

"Are you sure... I mean, how can you tell?"

RE: aSoIaF/ Game of Thrones Official Book Series Thread [Spoilers/Theories Welcome]
The show has been butchering my favorite character and making him look like a damn fool. So I thought that everyone should watch/rewatch these videos to see what's really going on with Littlefinger and Sansa.

Also then I will stop having to maneuver through autocorrect on my phone while trying to type aSoIaF last names trying to explain this stuff tard

It's a 5 part series, not just the one video.
