Norse immigration to Ireland was marginal in raw numbers, as was Norman. I don't have data for the Norman genetic legacy at hand, but Norse DNA is found in less than 0.5% of Irish people today. The new immigrant ruling class in both cases was gradually subsumed by the numerically superior natives, in the limited areas that they did manage to control. The English planations were substantial in certain areas (ie. Ulster in the C17th), but involved large numbers of Scots for the most part - who were extremely genetically similar to the native Irish. If you want to talk mixing from Celtic migration with any prehistoric natives you're looking at 5000 years ago...at which time point almost no nation on the planet had its current occupants.

Homogeneity is anything but subjective, genetically speaking. The current inhabitants of the island of Ireland are almost exactly the same genetically as the inhabihants were 500, 1000, or even 2000 years ago - unlike in most other regions on the planet. This is extremely rare. Ireland is one of the worst possible examples you could have used for your "mongrel mixing" point, that was why I felt the need to call you on it. Apologies if this comes accross at at all aggressive, but people throwing around anecdotal myths that are completely contradicted by the scientific facts always bugs me.

I have to echo the original poster. That video perfectly encapsulates the typical Irish woman.

Another point worth mentioning is the abysmal personal hygiene of Irish women. It's a well worn running joke at this stage; The legendary "smelly Irish pussy".

The worst part is that Irish women can openly criticize Irish guys and nobody bats an eyelid, but if you even mention the words "Irish women" & "ugly" in the same sentence you'll have all variety of feminists, or even worse, white knights, chomping at the bit to try and shoot your argument down and put you back in your apparent place. It's totally ridiculous.

To me this video pretty much sums up the plight of Irish men. It was filmed for an Irish TV show at the European Football Championships in Poland back in 2012 and depicts mostly average looking Polish chicks tell the obviously Irish man hating female presenter how great Irish guys are, while she takes typical sly digs at us ever chance that she gets. The video ends with her interviewing some Irish "women" who are only too happy to put Irish guys down even though they are only 2's at best.......and that's probably insulting 2's.

The problem is there are genuinely no 9's in Ireland. I have never seen a woman who is ethnically Irish who is 9/10, not on the street, not on TV, not in music, not in film. For whatever weird reason it doesn't apply to the Irish men, there are plenty of Hollywood leading men who are Irish, I mean a disproportionately huge amount. Same goes for TV and music (well at least the pop stuff like hozier and the script) the Irish men will succeed in the UK and sometimes even in the US, while the women will remain local because they can't compete outside of their bubble.

It's already a given that the anglosphere has better looking men than women. I don't think there's even been a real concise explanation for why that is. Aside from cultural and social issues (like slothy female behavior and chugging fast food) genetics probably does play a big factor though.

Anglo stunners just aren't that common to begin with in any of the anglo descent majority countries.

There isn't just one Irish accent. There are a bunch of regions and even within Dublin different accents depending on north/south of the Liffey.

From what I recall, the snobby/posh accent in Ireland is very south Dublin, sometimes referred to as "D4" after the Dublin4 post code (an expensive area). It's quite watered down and "Atlantic" sounding, almost a hybrid between English/Irish/American. Very pleasant to American ears.

I don't know about the dynamic being that way. I think it is more to do with Irish being more "exotic" than English. English girls are used to English accents. I'm sure if they broke down the English accents they'd find the cockney east end Jason Statham accent to be more alpha than say the Somerset farmer. Southern accents tend to be deeper than Northern accents. I've never considered the Alpha-Beta dynamic to be relevant with accents of the British isles. I would've assumed England to be de facto alpha due to them conquering the others. Foreigners may not be able to tell the difference but we have some god awful accents. West country & Brummy to name just two awful ones.

ROI accents in general were much easier on the ears compares with NI. I met this girl on holiday to Turkey when I was 17 from Count Down. It took about 5 attempts to understand every single word she said. I could hear similarities to Liverpool/Scouse accent in parts of Dublin. Then cork accent was quite high pitched & squeaky. I thought it was quite effeminate. I don't really recall stab city or Galway accents though. I was in stab city during rag week so people were from everywhere and same with Galway really.

Someone from Cork or Kerry doesn't sound remotely like someone from the Northside of Dublin, and then you have the Southside of Dublin which sounds English/American as has been said..

Annie Mac (the UK Radio 1 DJ), who's from Dundrum on the Southside of Dublin is a good example..

From what I recall, the snobby/posh accent in Ireland is very south Dublin, sometimes referred to as "D4" after the Dublin4 post code (an expensive area). It's quite watered down and "Atlantic" sounding, almost a hybrid between English/Irish/American. Very pleasant to American ears.

To be fair outside of the UK and Ireland people can hardly tell the difference in regional accent variations. Even in Scotland and England I've had girls been unable to tell the difference between Northern Ireland and ROI accents unbelievably.

Irish girls are everywhere in Australia..... Online dating has them pop up every other day. OP I can tell you that your women are getting seriously pumped over here by the local guys. They use one night stands to facilitate their accommodation in Australia and find jobs etc. I think we are getting the rubbish though as I don't see Irish 7+ here.

They are all working in HR or recruitment. Biggest pains in the arses to deal with.
