Exercising the democratic process to prevent Yes means yes being enshrined in law
Curse my inability to think of witty and concise subject lines.
A couple of months ago I made a thread about how the Director of Public Prosecutions, Alison Sanders, intends to follow the 'examples' of California and New York by introducing Yes means Yes here in the UK:
/thread-44619.html

There's also been some RoK articles on the subject:
http://www.returnofkings.com/55482/the-r...-in-the-uk

By any classic definition of the words, I am not a political activist.
However, this is a subject that I feel very passionately about to the point that if it were to become law, I would give serious consideration to emigrating.
So in an act of unprecedented fuck-giving, I sat and and composed a hand-written formal letter (sadly becoming an endangered practice) to my MP expressing my concerns in the best way I knew how.
Honestly, I didn't expect anything to come of it. There seems to be a prevalent feeling of pissing into the wind when it comes to these things.
But I was happy to be proven wrong this morning when I received a letter in the post in response.

Unfortunately mine is retiring and with Parliament's imminent dissolution it would seem that my timing leaves much to be desired.

However, the fact that I was able to get somebody's attention has inspired me.

While I realize that many here on the forum are not based in the UK and those who are may not share my sentiment on the issue, I want to do as much as I can to stop this. And considering that no new legislation is to be presented in the House of Commons until after the general election on May 7th, this gives a window to mobilize. Because it stands to reason that the feminist movement would want to see this successfully completed before people have had the chance to research and form their own opinions rather than be swayed by emotional appeal.
Because we should always beware those who appeal to our emotions as they don't necessarily appeal to our interests; case in point.

It's entirely possible that I'm simply being naive and foolish and should simply cut my losses and move on. But I'm not prepared to throw in the towel on this one - at least not yet.

Anyway, I'd like to suggest disseminating this information through every medium possible such social media, blog posts etc. and then prepare to preempt any attempts to see this brought before Parliament by communicating with their newly elected representatives. Quintessentially nip this shit in the bud so that they can't be cowed by party whips or media spectacles.

Is this something that anyone else feels as strongly about?

It doesn't matter if I am honest mate.

Look at these factors;

1: Ched Evans was hounded out of every possible football club in the UK with thousands of people protesting at two clubs on game day. Regardless of facts, once the media engine has its sights on you and has an opportunity it will keep you in the limelight. The problem with this is that they start using the term "convicted rapist" [insert name]. Ched was not convicted by any court on the count he raped her but this flew over everybodys head.

2: Multiple guys with false rape accusations by the same woman. She decided she wanted more attention because her boyfriend dumped her. She accused a man who wasn't even in the same town of raping her.

CCTV proves she was lying, she was a known false rape accuser but the Crown prosecution service ignored all of that evidence and proceeded against him. He was hounded out of his job, his girlfriend lost her baby and he had to move for fear of violence.

All this is part of a bigger picture. Crime rates are up but conviction rates are down. People see sexual assault convictions are down but don't realise a lot of it is false, like the cases I mentioned.

There are a lot of these cases recently and its a trend which doesn't seem to be going away so your best bet is to stay away from BPD girls, girls with BFs/Husbands and women who have feminist friends.

That's the crux of it. The ONS has empirically shown that the number of sexual assault crimes has been decreasing year on year. Of course this means that conviction rates are falling but this is an effect, not a cause. But of course feminists don't see it that way and so want to incorporate Yes means Yes to expand the definition of the crime to increase the number of accused/convicted men.

There are some words I've known sine I was a young man
With the first link, the chain is forged. The first thought forbidden, the first speech censured, the first freedom denied chains us all irrevocably.
Those words were uttered by Patrick Stewart as wisdom and warning. The first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged. I cannot and will not stand for it.

What are the odds that British courts would eventually strike down the law? We're still in the first phase in American universities. I don't expect it to last long after the mountain of lawsuits piles up. The legal system-sometimes-is a nice check on democratic idiocy. Courts in Britain might be more friendly to it.

If Chef Evans wasn't convicted of rape, what was he convicted of?

You received "a letter" from a person. Or more likely, a letter from one of his or her staff members. I jerked it in to a sock last week. I don't think I am going to be a father in 9 months.

You are. Smile As a male with utility value, the gov't is not for you. You are a pack mule that feeds it. There benefit is not yours.
