90 minutes? That alone tells you the guy is unhinged. You can make your point in 20 minutes, surely. OK, allow a guy an occasional rant for 40 minutes. But the length of a feature film? Jesus.

Dr Johnson rumbles with the RawGod. And lives to regret it.

Nope. As I said earlier, it's entirely-predictable behaviour, based on common Manosphere Theories of Male Hierarchies.

Aurini's explanation of events are feasible to me, because I have experienced it time and time again myself. Gamma guys want to believe you have a secret, because they can readily-observe your success with women, but then they bitterly-reject your wisdom because they secretly-think of themselves as 'superior' - particularly to you - and 'above' using 'tricks' to 'fool women' into sex, like Game is a magic trick you can use to make women have sex with you who haven't already decided they could theoretically have sex with you within the first few seconds of meeting.

This rang a bell for me, and I remember something he recently-posted. Note Aurini's response to you on Feb 28th in the 'Why Do So Many Middle-Aged Men Feel Lost?' thread.

Most are blue pill. The truth is that most men are really like that: lazy, want to be supported by a woman, etc. Especially nowadays in a society where entitlement is so rampant that most individuals fail to recognize subtle entitlement behaviors.

And if you try to point out to them that there is hope, that they can amend their behaviours and improve their own life, all they do is lash out in rage with an Elliot Rogers rant about how you were born lucky, or you're just a manipulative PUA.

I read that, and recognised it was coming from a place of profound disappointment with someone he had higher hopes for. Been there.

The timing of this post suggests Aurini's version of events is more likely the truthful one.

The lack of game seems evident, since a necessary first step in game is simply making yourself look presentable. Owen looks like he just rolled out of bed at 4 PM in all his youtube videos.

Jordan told Aurini that he didn't want to work with him anymore even though the movie was 90% done.
According to Jordan, Aurini said something like, "That's retarded. We can A.) Pretend this never happened, or B.) you can give me the cash that's mine for the work I've done on this project, or C.) I will tell everyone that you're running off with the cash."

I don't know if that's true, (It doesn't seem to be, because C never happened), but it's at least coherent.

That's pretty much it - but I also told him that I'm seeing this project through, regardless of his infantile behaviour. This movie needs to get made.

He considers this 'blackmail'.

I should have spotted him for what he was back in September.

Hindsight is 20/20. People with poor character get a lot of training in talking themselves up so it's hard to spot them until you've been burned enough times to be suspicious of everyone.

RE: Jordan Owen fires Davis Aurini
I feel bad for Aurini because we know he's worked hard on this project for some time. I'm sure with his determination and perseverance, he will make the most of an unfortunate episode.

And yet it seems clear that this might be a good time for all of us to reflect the importance of screening people for entry into business partnerships. I am just speaking in general here. I don't know anything about this person Jordan Owen; I only know what I've seen in this thread.

It is a very common problem for a man to enter into a business relationships with another, and then find out that some defect of character, conduct, or judgment in the partner sinks the enterprise.

There really is no way to protect oneself completely. I am a big believer in partnerships as a business model, but you need to know about a person's track record. What matters is someone's track record, not their aspirations, statements, or visionary schemes.

In life, no points are given for visionary schemes. Results are what matter. Some people are solid, and know how to answer the mail. They know how to deliver.

And some people are full of shit. They are, to use a Capone phrase, "a lotta talk in the bag."

Character matters. Appearance matters. Wusses and limp-dicks should be avoided, if at all possible.

Let's review something. A few weeks ago I talked about the "11 Signs When You're Being a Wuss." As we go down the list, a certain picture emerges:

1. Arrogant and opinionated? Check.
2. Hypercritical of others? Check
3. Refuse helpful leadership? Check
4. Slovenly and disorganized? Check
5. Dislike criticism and self-reflection? Check
6. Avoid successful people? Check
7. Malingerer? Check

A certain picture begins to emerge here: a wuss, unsuited for serious, mission-oriented interaction with others.

Davis will recover from this setback, because he is collected, mature, and disciplined. I'm just sorry that he had to have this happen to him. It's happened to many of us.

Apparently Davis's sincere efforts to help this person triggered some sort of hissy-fit born of inner insecurity. Some guys don't want to be helped. Some guys don't want to be saved. Some (perhaps most) are unwilling to go through the agony of being reborn (that's what it is, really) that is the first necessary step in self-improvement in general, and higher achievement in particular.

Perhaps it was for the best, Davis. Fate works in mysterious ways.

In all honesty Aurini, I am shocked it lasted this long. I've watched very nearly every single one of your videos (decently long time sub) and let's be honest, in those videos there was plenty to make the case that the difference in opinion was too wide.

But could you help me out with explaining the ultimatum Jordan was talking about? Was it different than he presented it or were you trying to ge the cash to finish the project?

Fair question. This is what he considered the ultimatum:

Quote:[3/2/2015 11:37:32 PM] Davis Aurini: If you abscond with 8k, I will accurately describe what happened – and apologize for [sic] my supporters, since I was the one who told them you could be trusted. If accurate reporting is smearing, then this whole documentary is a smear.

He initiated the conversation by saying that 'my services were no longer needed' and I responded by giving him 3 options.

1. Grow up, we continue working on this film together.
2. Split the money 50/50 that he just collected and we part amicably, each making our own film.
3. Take it for yourself, and I'll tell people what happened.

He thinks that this is blackmail.

Considering if he runs off with the 8k he's liable to end up with articles in half the manosphere blogs calling him a thief by name, easily obtained via cursory googling, he may not be considering the future costs to him for job hunting or getting anyone else to work with him on a project.

Frankly if I were him and trying to steal the money I would have made up a story about having ass cancer and needing the 8k to buy a new asshole from Chinese organ thieves.

Aurini, what would you have your Patreon supporters do now (I'm one of them)? I want to see this documentary get made but I do not wish to keep enriching Jordan if that is not going to happen. Is this documentary still happening?

Perhaps you could explain how this money is being split. Who has access to this money? You, him, or both of you? I ask because like I said, I don't want my donations going straight to Jordan's pockets because he is the treasurer and is now holding funds hostage.

Or do we not have to worry anymore because this was the last month of production?

I would recommend that you cancel your support, and ask Owen for a refund of the money he collected at the beginning of this month. I seriously doubt his ability to put this film together, and the poor judgment he's been displaying only exacerbates this.

At present he is keeping all of the funds for himself. I asked him to split the funds 50/50 to avoid this embarrassing situation, but even then I had misgivings. That money was intended to create a film, and I would have been using $4000 to merely prevent a scandal by allowing Owen to keep it (I really don't see him putting anything together). Had he split the funds, I would have written pleasantly about his project - I would have said that because of creative differences, there are now going to be 2 movies coming out of all of this, and ain't that just peachy? In reality this is the stupidest move he could have made, but for the sake of preventing a scandal I would have let him get away with it.

Honestly, I'm kind of glad he didn't take me up on that offer. It felt wrong.

The reason all of this came out yesterday was because Owen was waiting until he'd collected the funding before 'firing' me (to reiterate I was never his employee, I was his business partner). The guy's a sneaky male cuttlefish. I don't know if he'll actually refund your money, but it's worth a shot.

As for myself, I'm still thinking things through. I would rather not ask for money, and if there are people out there willing to work for profit-sharing (assuming, of course, that this makes a profit) then I'd like to take them up on the offer. Musicians, animators, et cetera.

Will Jordan be giving you access to the footage with Carrera? Or will he be a chode and not give it to you so that you can't use it in your version of the documentary? It'd be nice to have that footage since she has been a big part of GamerGate.

Given the amounts involved, I highly recommend filing a suit in small claims court. Assert breach of contract and unjust enrichment. Possibly tortious interference with contract, but not sure you even need to get that sophisticated in small claims court. Even if you get nothing out, he deserves some stress in his life courtesy of the legal system. Have all possible documentation before you file. Do not warn him either, just file and have him served.

It sounds ridiculous and much more entertaining than the long-winded "deconstructing" video.

I preface this with saying that this is not legal advice and I am not Aurini's attorney. Smile

Yes, a Canadian can sue an American. No idea as to nationalities. Someone can sue on behalf of someone else if, for example, Aurini transfers his rights and interest in this endeavor to someone else. But then it gets complicated, and really not necessary. Small claims court is, I think, pretty easy to do. Just need to know where this person lives, and file in their local jurisdiction. The suit and service can all be done remotely. Aurini would have to make an appearance though, eventually.
