Rebel Wilson is in yet another "Pitch Perfect" movie. I saw the trailer where she's making a pratfall down a flight of stairs and thinking, "That most be some pretty thick drywall" because her enormous body didn't bust through it. Does this woman not realize nobody will take her seriously and it just an object of ridicule and scorn? She is not the kind of woman men choose, but rather settle for when they've exhausted all other options. Should the opportunity arise for her man to find something better, he'll run and snap that leash like a pitbull tethered with a rotted, frayed rope.

Personally, I don't know anyone who has settled for a fatty. I am not saying that to say I only associate with men of high value. If anything, I probably just don't know enough people.

Is it just as simple as the guy wore down so much and just wanted the company of anyone rather than being alone? Just can't think of how settling for a fat chick that will just get fatter as a good solution. Dr oz was spouting all this stuff about how they are fat because they are hurt inside and just making fun of the fatty makes it worse and they get fatter. Then shouldn't the opposite be true that if they are happy they should lose weight? All I can see is that they get fatter after getting married.

A few of my friends claim to be genuinely attracted to "thick" girls. One of my friends actually shames my taste in thin fit women saying I like "boney, anorexic girls" - this is generally a reactionary response whenever he shows me pictures of girls he likes or has fucked and I say they are fat and not my taste, but thats neither here nor there.

In all 100% honesty, I think a big reason this is so common is because most men aren't very cognizant of their own social value and/or don't often enough evaluate whether or not they could "do better." Most men are just complacent and happy to be getting reliable pussy without having to put themselves out there constantly. Fatties are easier to hook up with and even easier to keep around long term because they know their options are far more limited than girls who are fit and attractive. Call it effective social conditioning or what have you; men aren't generally encouraged to grab the world by the balls and never settle - women are.

I had a casual friend from the UK who was an ultra-marathoner and thus skinny as a rail. A really smart, handsome guy, he was attending medical school in the US on his way to what I assume to be a successful career as a doctor. He posted a picture of himself on Facebook with his American girlfriend when they announced their engagement. She wasn't just overweight, she was clearly obese. She looked a lot like the woman who inspired this thread. I couldn't believe it.

Some weeks later I posted some links with comments about unhealthy bady fat issues on my Facebook wall, and he immediately defriended me. What the heck is this guy thinking?

What blows my mind is why some health-conscious guy into physical fitness and nutrition, who's worked hard to stay in shape, would be with some obese woman who obviously has no respect for herself or any man with whom she'd be. Doesn't she realize that he will be seen in public with her and that reflects badly on his image? She's a fat slob who shows callous disregard for all the dedication that man has put forth towards his personal improvement with a resolute denial of this man's beliefs. No way could I ever be that thirsty. Her very presence would be an affront to my sensibilities.

I noticed that a lot of bigger women hold it down for their men. Majority of the women in my family are on the bigger side, so I don't get too much into the weight stuff, since really I can only worry about myself anyway. I will say that I've seen numerous times, them putting up with cheating, and all other types of bullshit. I wonder if most men state of mind has become so weak, that they'd rather have someone incredibly loyal than having to worry about what they're doing on the side.

Excuse me if I'm wrong here, but isn't that a part of game? You know, to make your woman know that you're her best option. When I come here, I see a lot of guys posting about getting flaked on, and women going on a cock carousel only to return back to them....seems like a lot of people want to avoid this. I'm assuming dating someone beneath your standards is a way of doing this. I'd rather just go through all the hurdles to get what I want, instead of setting....but to each his own.

Doe anybody remember the mobster "Johnny Sack" from the "Sopranos?" People feared him because of his power, but I don't believe they respected him because of his wife. One wiseguy made a crack that "Ginny Sacramoni got a 90 pound mole removed from her ass." Johnny did love her but was disgusted by her lack of self-control, especially when he caught her with her secret junk food stash when she claimed she was trying to lose weight.

I wonder if she always looked like that or let herself go. I doubt any guy who would've dated a girl who was a blimp when she was young would've rose to the higher echelons of organized crime. Just drove home for lunch and saw two big girls walking with booty shorts on. I'd bet my life savings that a few guys are gonna try to holla at them on there way to their destination. They wouldn't even wear some shit like that if dudes weren't throwing them so much attention for doing so. A lot of women have confused thick with fat these days.

One of the problems of hypergamy is the positive feelings of validation that a man receives when he is (temporarily) the object to hypergamic attraction.

I think of the medical student who has only occasionally 'got lucky' with women only to to be blown over by the positive attention from any woman not long after qualifying as a physician.

I identify a lot with this as well. I met my then boyfriend now husband when I was at my smallest and felt pretty good about myself but I started putting on weight and even though I know he loves me and finds me attractive I still find it difficult to believe.

I've since been diagnosed with PCOS and losing weight is very hard for me; but I am starting to love myself more.

Not a psychologist but I have noticed both from experience and some amateur research that "chubby chasers" and other "fat fetishists" type of men are usually guys who had an absent mother figure,either physically absent (as in dead,lost,away.etc) or distant (unmotherly,deviant,fucking around,"at work",relegating to nanny and/or videogames).

Amongst the "lower classes",specially the blue collars,I've also noticed an inclination for fatties,but they tend to seek more the "strong looking" types.
GUess this is a throwback from the ole antiquity when food wasnt abundant in which fat people were seen as having access to food and/or other important resources.

Interestingly enough,from what I've seen on the streets.
Many latin american,arabic and hindi people also seem to fall in this mindset of fat=status/rich
