Billionaire's Divorce Exposes His Foolery, Ex-Wife's Greed
[Image: Citadel-tmagArticle.jpg]

Quote:The divorce of billionaire hedgie Ken Griffin just keeps on providing revelations about the couple's spending.

Last month, we learned that the family spent $1 million per month in expenses related to their three kids. The filings didn't break down the spending much, saying that it included $300,000 a month for intercontinental private-jet travel, $160,000 a month for vacation rentals and $60,000 a month for office space and professional staff.

Now, new court documents give more details on the $1 million a month. According to filings late Friday, Griffin argued that his ex-wife, Anne Dias, is claiming expenses as child support even though the expenses are for her "lifestyle."

Among the expenses: $6,800 a month for groceries, $7,200 a month for restaurant meals, $8,000 a month for gifts and $2,000 a month for stationery. Griffin also claims his wife has sought $450,000 for a 10-day vacation in St. Bart's during the children's winter break.

Dias' lawyers don't dispute the expenses per se. But they argue that under Illinois law, Griffin is required to fund the children's lifestyle as it was during their parents' marriage. And they say the expenses are simply an accounting of all the couple's child-related expenses while they were married.

Dias is seeking to nullify the couple's prenup and claims Griffin is failing to pay adequate child support for their three kids, who are all under age 10.

"Ken Griffin, one of the wealthiest men in the world, continues to lie with impunity and to brutally and shamelessly attack the mother of his children in an effort to avoid his financial responsibilities to his family," said a spokeswoman for Dias. "Anne is saddened that he is using his enormous resources in an attempt to destroy her when it would be so easy for him to support his children as he always did during the marriage."

Griffin said he is paying "virtually every expense" related to the children, including their four nannies. He said he has even paid expenses that are solely for Dias' benefit, including a private chef, multiple house cleaners and a house manager/personal assistant. He said that while he declined to fund the $450,000 vacation, he said he gave her $45,000 for the winter vacation.

Griffin said Dias is trying to fund her "opulent lifestyle" by saying her personal expenses should be part of child support.

Griffin should still be able to afford a million copies of this book, in fact, his sons should read it ASAP:

Why can't he have the kids? I'm sure between him and a nanny there's enough midday Chardonnays and lack of attention for all three of them.

For a billionaire, 12 million a year is actually pretty modest living. Let's say he has at least 400 million in semi-liquid investments. That's only 3% a year in overall living expenses. Life is good at that baller range.

As long as you don't get married.

Because, screw you for having a penis.

"I can count on one hand, literally, the number of women I have ever met that can take that kind of advice, accept it and make use of it without their epic egos setting metaphorical fire to the conversation.

Most women "looking for advice" are in reality looking for someone to validate their cosmic victimhood, because it's not really their fault, because it's never their fault. This behavioural trait isn't absent among men, but when we fail society cares not, while when women fail there is no shortage of comforting platitudes on offer from every vector.

He is by far more Red Pill or has become so as I stated in the dupe thread:

Look at how this shameless gold-digger uses every dirty trick in the book:

- Slanders his name and goes to the tabloids
- Tries to void out the pre-nup that she originally agreed to
- Uses the children as weapons

What a fucking nightmare this bitch is. At the very least this billionaire had the good sense to prepare for this nonsense. I wonder who will win in the long run? The courts are probably drooling at the prospect of getting their hands on his billions.

Isn't it fun living in a country where our taxes subsidize the risk of people in finance so they can become billionaires leeching the productive output of the economy, and thus enabling their ugly wives to spend $2,000 a month on post-it notes? Think about it while you're filing your income tax return this spring and paying the state 30% of your pissant middle-class income.

No sir, in the world of wall street and many old money industries, marriage is an important tool for career & business advancement.

If you're not married many clients and associates will think you're either gay, weird, or untrustworthy (if you're a player). Therefore, marriage becomes a necessity for that, and for kids.

That has been changing in the recent years or better said decades. In some instances getting married can be detrimental to some deals, since wives can get half your money and a divorce could impact the joint relationship.

The time of stable relationships is gone for billionaires too. Plenty of them are Players now or have some stable LTRs for various events.

If I were that rich, why even bother to go to court and argue over stationairy money? Who the fuck cares? Throw her a million a month. Its peanuts for this guy.

He's only cutting himself in the fingers now because now his ex wife will go public with all kinds of slander which will make the guy look bad (professionally and privately) and worst of all, she will probably talk him down 24/7 to his young and very easy to influence kids. Making his young kids hate their father.

For such a intelligent guy its a dumb move but I guess he became a billionaire by being really blinded by greed and now can't turn off anymore. Sad really.

Its allways the kids who are the real victims in a divorce.

Middle class only pay 30% income tax in the US?

It's 42% here in Holland.

Then again, we have excellent infrastructure, health care and a social system here. And still the government is pissing away billions over the borders.

For some it's a matter of principle. He may be pissed off and he has by far more power in that divorce.

Also his statements about her getting the cash "if he is a good girl" show clearly that he became more Red Pill than we may think.

It's not about money for some people - and he likely does not have much dirty stuff going out there anyway. It's just a woman trying to get more cash out of it while having dealt a very bad hand for a change.

Also - taxation is a tricky matter - you have to account for the entirety of direct and indirect taxes that a person pays. Income tax is only part of it. If healthcare for example is astronomical as in the US and tax-financed but excellent in many EU countries, then this has to accounted for as well. I would even add fines and other such "inconveniences" to the general tax burden (for example if police has quotas and is out to get you to pay and most do - then that should be added to the total tax burden, since in many countries fines are rare).

Besides - the least amount of taxes pay guys like that billionaire here. It's not even double digits for him and that is both direct and indirect taxes.

RE: Billionaire's Divorce Exposes His Foolery, Ex-Wife's Greed
^^^ I certainly agree that having strong principles is something every real man must have. I myself have them too and I'm willing to go very far for it to defend them but in this case the billionaire should have thought a bit better about the consequences of his legal actions. No doubt he was urged to do this by wily lawyers with dollar signs in their eyes. (Divorce) lawyers tend to drag out a case as long as possible without any regards for the people (and this case children) involved.

If they were a childless couple, by all means, sue her with all your might for wasting money but in this case look at it this way: If you had 5000 dollar in your bank-account would you really damage the relationship with your kids over 1 dollar? because that the ratio we're talking about.
That's not even taking in account the time and stress damage he has over this. He could have been using this time to grow his business even more if he chose to be wife-less for a while or be kneedeep in to other pussy. Whichever he wants to do.

This guy could make Dan Bilzarian look like a castrated beggar yet he chooses to argue over pocket change.

Regarding the taxes. Yes, you're right. General tax burden should be taken in account but it's still how the government decides to spend it which can be wasteful or not.

Fines here in Holland are ridiculously high though and coppers here are very eager to get their quota or else the loose their job. That's really fucked up when you think about it. They can't be lenient even if they want to.

In general, it's impossible for him to 'give' as much as some might think. If you're over 10-100 Million, esp in finance, your money isn't liquid, like cash (or a house to be sold). It's all in stocks, investments, bonds, often obligated to stay there for several years or decades.

There are very few super-rich guys who have had to give 50/50.
