Communication - In All its live Shapes and Forms
So,

as communication happens every day in so many situations, like all the time.. i wonder why it is that questions like "What makes a good conversation?", and "What type of communication is fitting here? (nonverbal, verbal, symbolic)", so on and so forth are not really answered. At least not for me. I need to add that i don't mean forms of communication like literature or advertising, but the ones we have when hanging around with friends and trying to have a good time.

As surely someone tackled this problem before, let me ask you whether you have some good ressources about this i can dig into?.

Thanks in advance guys!

Cheers

EDIT#1:
I forgot, one thing that already has my attention is 'story telling'. I haven't looked into it yet. But i'm sure guides on "how to" should't be the problem. Nevertheless, hints about this are welcome Smile

wow how can i forget about humor? of course! humor, but what kind of humor?
It was always fun to makes jokes about each other but it often feels like "nah, can't say this, it might hurt him if i dont tell him that it was a joke immediatly afterwards". Some good reads about humor for this context here?

Hm, i already see a problem and a better way to go about it here.
The problem ist that there are too many factors that need to be considered when trying to answer "What makes a good conversation?". And i think before trying to answer that question, it should be looked at the bigger overlying one, namely "What makes beeing around with others a good/fun time?". To get to a prototype answer lets limit ourself with the factors to make it easier to start somewhere.
One would be the "physical" context (when, where, how many, who) and the aim?

Context 1:
When - Early evening (6pm-02am)
Where - Houseparty with beer and snacks of a friend of a friend
How many - many
Who - 1-2 Buddies and otherwise new faces

Aim 1:
Fun time (not like laughing all the time, but when waking up the next day thinking "man, what a great night)

Context 2:
When - Early evening (6pm-23am)
Where - At a females friend home
How many - Just the two of you
Who - female friend (one you could have sex with of course)

Aim 2:
Fun time

i'll post something myself about this later, need to cook for now but feel free to post your thoughts about this

As no one has posted something helpful with weight yet it may look like it again Wink
Plus, as i can't edit my first post after 60mins i need to post via an answer and make this kind of an interchanging journal here.

Btw, just read an wonderful written article about Plato (http://www.thebookoflife.org/the-great-p...ers-plato/) and found that he already had good suggestions for having more eudamonia (fullfilment). What i got out of this for our question was:
1. A Symposium (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symposium)
"A social coming together (german article)". Seems like this party greeks had the right stuff for life in mind! So one thing they did there were games. Smaller and bigger games to socialise. Sounds great, does someone have sth about this for me to look intp?
