I’ve done pretty much every country from Egypt around the horn to Nigeria.

But I am partial to West Africa most of all.

Any of the big cities in West Africa are lots of fun. Abidjan is an amazing city. Accra is also great and has great night life. Lomé in Togo is a smaller beach-side city with lots of opportunities.

I’ve always said I would retire to Tangier as well and enjoy easy access to Europe with the African cost of living.

It's just stupid for them to think they are superior to all other blacks because of the way they look when their country is one of the poorest in Africa. They definetely have some attractive women but I wouldn't say Ethiopia is superior just cause their women look good, in almost every other aspect the country is a shithole so they shouldn't be feeling superior over all other blacks.

Thanks for the Rep! While i agree Habesha mentality isn't great it was needed if Habeshas didn't have this type of mindset their genes would be extinct a long time ago

Yes but if we want to start going into the atypical look, I've hung out with Angolans and Cape Verde people. They mostly look like Brazilians as they seem to be, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but the most mixed in Africa. I personally don't see that as a bonus point if one is behind when it comes to poverty but you do have a point. I guess their culture and history remained intact due to the non-colonisation. However, I swear when I studied European history (in Europe, of course, since I'm Afro European hehehe new phrase coined), Ethiopia was called Abyssinia until the name was changed due to conflict or whatever with the Italian general (leader?) Once you have sufficient melanin in you, you are considered black, that's just how it goes. If you are talking about behaviour, well, there is no one black behaviour so we can all agree on that. Diversity in the black population also ranges beyond just the Ethiopian look. I've seen Africans that have completely fascinated me in look from other countries. If you asked me to guess about habeshas and their looks, I strongly believe that their look is like that because of the proximity to the Middle East. There would have been sexual mixing between black Africans and Arabs in the past resulting in the current blend Habesha look. One has to remember that Africans were moving around and mingling far before the Europeans arrived and started definitively marking nations and countries. It was based on tribes before.

You get a similar sort of look going alongside the entire East coast of Africa. I once saw a guy from Sudan who looked completely Arabic phenotypically, from the facial structure, hair and even his eye colour. His skin tone however, was as dark as soot. I hadn't seen that look before and I may have been caught gazing..baffled. It reminds me of when I was in Detroit at a conference and saw an Indian guy who had every negro trait possible from the bulky nose, bulging lips. Regarding history, a lot of African countries have had fascinating history. I don't actually think Africans have done justice to letting the world know how diverse it is. Even within colonisation, countries were 'cultured' differently. This means if one were to really study the countries and start to list Sub-Saharan countries and note down the differences, they would find a distinct difference in how the people conduct themselves. Quick example, I've met many Francophones and even Afro-Hispanohablantes (Equatorial Guineans) who consider their lingual diversity as just speaking the colonial master language (French and Spanish respectively). Take some Anglophone African countries that I know for example, let's say Ghana and Nigeria..the colonial language is English but I don't often find a Ghanaian or Nigerian who cannot speak English AND their indigenous native tongue.
Hence, the fact that some natives from some colonialised African countries cannot speak their native tongue speaks volumes about perception of self and how they were perhaps, colonised.

Habeshas are a mix between Semites from modern day Yemen and the original Cushite population , This genetic mixture goes for the most part like 70 procent cushitic and only 30 procent Semitic.

A lot of Habeshas have significant Bantu or Nilotic heritage due to Menelik's colonization as well as the Ethiopian slave trade. So yeah they pretty much black

As moma stated facial features don't always have to do with race. I have a straight nose and straight hair but i'm quite darkskin. A genetic test i did showed that i was 95.6 East African with the rest being Bantu African. A lot of people forget that the first human like creatures were found in east Africa and research has implied that Europeans are descended from cushitic peoples while Asians have significant Melanesian admixture.

The reason people don’t know African history is that we are kept from it for political and power reasons.

It is hard for everyone in the rest of the forum to go on about superiority this and superiority that when you learn “Europe” was under the thumb of Kings and Queens from the Continent for most of known history.

Not to mention what we know of human history is only a minuscule percentage of the true length of humanity and it was “Africans” who built us up from scrounging bugs in the dirt to everything we have today. Not to mention all of the riches you see today in Europe and America is direct wealth taken from The Continent and built by African hands.

That’s why you have to laugh at the complex of folks but also it is important to know your history so you don’t get caught in the inferior complex many of our people have.

If even educated Africans don't seem to care about our history it's gonna be hard to make a diaspora member who is under constant psychological warfare to care about his own history.

If we wan't to solve the inferior complex we simply need to fix our economies, remove a significant part of foreign cultural input from our cultures. Began to create a African entertainment "bubble" , remove colonial languages and begin to see us self as superior.

Honestly, perhaps I seem a bit off, but I never understood this constant Black American obsession with heritage.

Many of us are so mixed that it's not like we can claim we are truly from this one continent. Plus, a lot of the countries on the map don't host the nation or tribe that we might descend from. Not to mention, your heritage might even be mixed on the Black side too. Perhaps dad's of east African stock and mom from some other spot.

I guess as I've gotten into the latter half of my twenties I just sorta stopped being all that interested in that sort of thing. I'd like to see the mainland one day, but I'd be there in the capacity of a visitor and not some long-lost son.

A good way of reclaiming our africanity would be dropping currencies like Franc CFA.

However France controls us, and every Senegalese President is selected by France.

At least i you have a president in office, Last i checked twenty abdis we're claiming to be presidents of Somalia , Twenty others had their own clan states, 1 had his own succession state. While the people lived in utter poverty the officials are taking the little that exists.

There is no "psychological warfare" from the boogey white man or the media.

Simply? You can't "simply" fix African economies. The reason is not corrupt leaders and Europeans stealing our resources like every 50 year old armchair politician with no two cents to rub together postulates over his Guinness.

The reason is the fact that subsaharan Africans are the most backward people on earth bar none. Europeans, Middle easterners, Asians and Indians had thousands of years of nation and empire building under their belt. Empire meant law and order, a common language and culture that transcends the primitive human organizations of clans and tribes.

Outside of Northern Ethiopia, almost all of Africa was still clanish and tribal by the early 20th century. A prototypical equivalent would be the hundreds of Germanic tribal confederations during Roman times. Then imagine taking those tribes speaking different languages and trying to create a Germany out of them in the modern context. Not going to work.

There are simply no African countries in the true sense of the word. Just a bunch of boundaries drawn up by Europeans and posse of backward confused people who don't know whether to define themselves through a clan, tribe, ethnic group, country or race. That definition is very important for the human and especially male psyche which in its absence leads to all sorts of inferiority complexes. It also makes it impossible to work together with your fellow countryman. All great societies need some form of civic trust which doesn't and will not exist in Africa until ...

Either you remove clan, tribal, linguistic and ethnic affiliations by force until the nation and nationality considered the common good. Which no one will let u do in the 21st century unless you want to be bombed a la Libya.

Or you divide the continent into Yorubia, Habeshaland, Akanland, Shona Republic etc so that the tribal/ethnic mentality naturally becomes a civic nationalist one.

World War II's number one victim was Africa because Europeans were actually on track to civilize the continent . Another 50 years would have put Zimbabwe on par with Singapore and Ghana around Latvia.

You might think I'm overplaying the importance of this mentality but the difference between a clan/tribe mentality as opposed to a national mentality is like the difference between a 9 year old school kid and 25 year old man. Completely different levels of mental development.

It's easy to wax poetic about how great Africa is and that all we need is some pride when you are living in the USA and Sweden. Masturbate about how Europe and America were built by African resources lol can't believe Black Caesar actually believes that bull this is the definition of blue pill.

My family owns a line of AirBnB luxury rental units in Addis which I handle remotely. Every single time we've experienced problems, the perpetrators were either locals, other Africans or Arabs. Never had any problems with Chinese or Europeans. Now I only reply to European and Chinese inquiries. This would have appalled my idealistic Uni self. I could list dozens of anecdotes like this but the bottom line is that the real world opens your eyes.

Africa is far from great now but was great before,

Not only Ethiopians lived in a nation based state, A few examples are the Songhai ,Ghana , Benin and Ashanti empires which were all famed for their artistry and well organized bureaucracy . Mansa Musa the richest men this world have seen was an emperor of the Mali empire. He was so rich that when he passed through Cairo and gave out his riches to the poor the gold rate there didn't make a come back until a few DECADES later. During his reign thousands of students from all over the islamic world came to timbuktu to study with renowned black scholars.

Zanzibar was one of the greatest trading states this world has seen. Anjuuran sultanate were a hydraulic empire in Somalia who destroyed the Portuguese navy repeatedly during the 15th century. The ancient Nubian kingdom of Sudan who conquered Egypt and ruled the egyptians for hundreds of years and simultaneously made black features highly wanted during Pharaohic Egypt.

Who can the colonialists have civilized us when we were already civilized? They didn't do anything besides loot African natural resources repeatedly and create a racial caste system were we were at the end in our own lands. Congolese students who excelled in academia weren't allowed to study anything besides psychology which we all know is a useless degree this happened throughout the african colonies.

Enormous tracts of agricultural estates were taken from black landowners and redistributed to poor french, dutch and english invaders. All infrastructure that were put in place were simply just their to help steal our resources to the western world while using forced labor.

Their is no white man's burden, They didn't come to Africa to create an utopia they came for their own self -benefit

African kingdoms of the past were for the most part based on ethnic groups. Their is no such thing as a tribe in Africa, How can you be classified as a tribe when you have a culture , language and custom? IF Africans are classified in to tribes why aren't others?

How can you even begin to say their is no psychological warfare against us in the western world? How can you not see it?, How can you not feel it. The only way you don't see it or feel it is by you being a blind robot with no understanding of human nature. We were put down and hunted for hundreds of years, Blacks were lynched in America simply by looking at white women or not addressing policemen as mister. This is a good point that I feel a lot of people don't grasp. Especially Europeans but also some Americans (black and white) when it comes to speaking about Black American roots. With all the slave movies and series that have been released and gained a wide spread audience and the popularity of African American culture, I still get stupid questions like "what country are you from", followed by "what country are your parents from" after I have already emphatically stated that I am a Black American.

As if that answer is any less accurate than another member of the diaspora who says they are Brazilian, Haitian or Cuban or Jamaican. Many people around the globe "accept" that those places had race mixing and those people cannot conceivably point to one single spot on a map in Africa and fully claim it as their ancestral origin. No one asks a black Brazilian where he "really" comes from. But many foreigners still seem to envision the U.S. as a nordic paradise that only let in Blacks recently, like in most European countries. This boggles my mind.

The vast majority of African descendants living in the Americas from Nova Scotia all the way down to Chile have been here for centuries and mixing with different African tribes and some Europeans and indigenous peoples. This fact seems to be lost on so many, even seemingly educated, young and old people I have met from all races.
