"Insider said" is euphemism for "I pulled that out of my ass".

I was once friends to the mother and sister of a celebrity. I even went to clubs with her sister. They told me that 90% of the stories the media wrote about her - about that very sister or mother having talked to the media was bullshit. They never talked to anyone - the media just made things up. When they have real sources they always quote rather clear-cut, unless the quote is too boring - then they make things up.



Jack Nicholson alone and unhappy? Get the fuck out of here - he has children and has a connection with them. He has friends - close friends - not only Hollywood cokeheads - friends in business, art - billionaires like Jack Welch, gets invited to parties, events, orgies, reunions with friends and families non-stop etc.

How is his life different to the average widower? I tell you how: It's much more awesome.

All they noticed is him going to an art exhibition more or less incognito and saying that he does not think that he will fall in love again. Please! That means nothing!

It reminds me of this meme of the feminine imperative: "You will die alone! Man-up and marry me already!" NO - women are the ones who suffer that kind of loneliness more!

There may be lonely and socially awkward guys out there - even celebrities, but Jack's frame is way too strong. He is a true Alpha and Alpha is doing fine unless there are physical reasons for his demise, but that can hit anyone.

I agree, but these celebrities also give a lot of access to the media, how else would bored housewives know that Celebrity X and Celebrity Y are riding dirt bikes in the middle-of-nowhere?

I laugh when they complain about the lack of privacy, when one, they choose to be in the spotlight, and two, they often tell the cameras where they're going to be and what's going on.

Another article mentioned that he said he's lonely. I don't know whether he actually said this or not. But we really don't know what's going on inside someone's private life judging only by the media. A lot of people we think should be having a blast because they are rich and famous are actually miserable. None of us here know what his private life is like. We only see what the media and his PR team allows us.

Being famous and rich bring their own subset of problems.

But it comes down to this:

1. Simple Vitamin- mineral deficiency - many people from my environment or even just me - we all improved our moods by taking good orthomolecular supplements - some even need a daily dose of L-tryptophan or HTP - that's just the way we are built - if the medical mafia were not corrupt they would tell people that those supplements work 100x better than any anti-depressant they have so far

2. Drugs - since stars get drugs sometimes for free and can afford it - plus also having lifestyles which make it possible for them to take them a lot versus Wallstreet guys or lawyers who have to be sharp on Monday morning - all of it just makes it easier for them to fall off the wagon. There are countless celebrities who do rehabs - also those drugs are effectively toxins depleting the body of essential nutrients making depressions more likely

Delusions of grandeur and isolation - many celebrities get their asses kissed so often and surround themselves by ass-licking or star-struck people 24/7 that they start to live in their own deluded reality. Part of it is true that they are getting paranoid because they don't know if someone really likes them or whether it is just for their fame - the extremely wealthy have the same problem.
The family of the celebrity I was friends with - her mother and her sister hadn't had much contact in years, because that singer did not like her mother talking back to her. She also divorced from her husband because he was the same. Her ex-husband had a better relationship with her own mother, because he was more honest and did not give shit about her fame - just like her own family.
When celebrities cut themselves off from the REAL world - their real friends, family etc. and try to live in their Jackson-like-la-la-land, then they are on their way to looney-town. That's why many have celebrity or very wealthy powerful friends, because those people are not impressed by their fame. But sometimes it's just an excuse - they meet other celebrities to feel more "in" going into more delusions together.

I don't think that Jack Nicholson falls under category 3 - he may have had problems with point 1 or 2. Point 1 is actually something that many people have experienced - famous or not.

In any case celebrity gossip magazines are the worst - unless you know Jack yourself you don't know anything. And his real friends will likely never talk to the media about his problems, so it's all bullshit. The trope is the typical feminist meme that serves women.

I think he's the boss and not lonely at all.
But I do think he has become a bit of a fat fuck. I would never let that happen to myself. There is no reason besides crippling injury/illness that any man can't maintain a Jack Lalanne type dedication to physical fitness for his whole life. Unless you are a wartime president of a major country, you can always find at least 30 minutes in a day if not double that to maintain yourself without fucking up your other responsibilities. It's not just about being able to bang, it's about your energy level and your day to day health.

That dying alone crap is all part of the "don't you want people there to comfort you as you're dying" nonsense.

While it would be nice, depending on how you go out (which none of us can predict), the person who uses this line is trying to manipulate you through shaming and playing on your primeval fears. That's not what a truly loving person would do and that's probably not the kind of person you want around you as you take your last breaths.

When you think about it, it doesn't really matter if there are people there to comfort you through it since you're gonna die anyway. You're going to be making that journey alone. What matters is if you've lived your life to the fullest and without regret and whether or not you're ready for what comes after.

Going off on a small tangent here, i think that pride in and even "necessity" of solitude only works when one has an audience for it. If there is no OPTION of not having your solitude broken, suddenly it becomes a lot more suffocating. It is only when you are CHOOSING to be solitary and push away the rest of the stupid world that it makes sense. It is an active thing; a statement.
