These twits are only pulling stunts like this because they know that the soft, limp-wristed hipsters of New York won't fight back. I'd love to see "Black Brunch" in the South or Midwest. It'd last as long as it takes the first restaurateur they harass to pull a gun and tell them to get out. Hell, the patrons might draw steel on these little punks.

But really, I can't feel too sorry for the "victims" of Black Brunch. Not only do these dweebs support the Red Mayor and his war on the police, they directly benefit from the harsh Giuliani-era police policies they claim to decry. Gentrification and police brutality are directly linked; I guarantee you that none of these wimps would have dared set foot in the NYC of John Lindsay or Ed Koch.

Brunch is an excuse to let go of any pretense of restraint and order the most calorie-dense food accompanied with alcohol.

Brunch used to be a classy special occasion, remember "Champagne Brunch"? It was an excuse to have a luxuriously late breakfast with elegant dishes like Eggs Benedict or some smoked salmon on toast (or a bagel if you're in NYC)

Now it's turned into getting shitfaced in the middle of the day and pounding fried chicken, waffles, pork belly, pastries, and every possible combination of starch, sugar, and fat imaginable.

Anyway, in regards to this story, there's no point in ruminating on how ridiculous or ineffective this publicity stunt was.

I don't go out for brunch, but I love my breakfast. If dozens of protesters, I don't care what their color, came in and started yelling over a megaphone and causing a ruckus, I'd tell the manager:

"You reserve the right to refuse service to anyone, and that includes these dipshits. I come here to enjoy a meal in peace and quiet, and if you can't maintain a hospitable environment for your paying guests, then I'll be on my way."

Pretty funny that they decided to protest brunch. I can't imagine a softer target.

The idea of doing brunch is ridiculous. Let me get this straight. You get up on a Sunday morning, get dressed, get in your car, drive out to some restaurant 30 mins away, get seated, wait to have your order taken, then wait an additional 20 mins before they serve you your precious Western Omelette with hash browns at $14 a pop....

When you could just stay home and take 2 mins to make the same fucking omelette and continue on with your day. Not to mention save loads of money. And I bet it's wives nagging their husbands to do brunch even tho the bitch can easily (or not) make some damn breakfast for her family. A family of four, let's say, will easily spend over $50 by going out for brunch. Meanwhile, a carton of eggs costs what.. $4 max?

If it is a damn fine brunch like a place near where I live offers then it works as an occasional treat.
I go there every 3-4 months or so.

^ That's understandable. My rule of thumb is if it's something I can make on my own and doesn't take an unreasonable amount of time, I won't go out to eat it.

Omelettes: take a few minutes to make and way cheaper.

Sandwiches: 2 slices of bread, some meat, and veggies. 5 minutes tops.

Even dinner-type foods shouldn't take more than 30-40 minutes to prepare.

The only things I'll go out for are sushi and pizza, because that's something that A) I don't know how to make and B)even if I did, it would take too long.

As you all know, when a protest movement senses that they're running out of steam, or that the media is starting to move on to other stories, they will do something like this to try to keep the spotlight on their cause for a little while longer. It seldom works, but they're too young to know that.

Anyway, I thought the point of brunch was for Sunday mornings when people sleep in late enough that they decided to combine breakfast and lunch into a single meal. So, it combines both breakfast and lunch foods. It's a good excuse for friends to get together and have one last party before they have to get reoriented and prepared for the workweek.

The playbook manual on how to do this, of course, came out of Berkeley, CA, possibly as a class project in social justice.

Originally the manual was written for animal rights activists protesting the use of scrambled eggs back in October 2014, and then got rewritten with a black veneer pasted on top.
