Hi,

I am looking for suggestions on how to furnish my loft in Vegas. I live in a swanky high rise just off the strip but it's furnished like a pauper...no style and no personality...maybe like its owner

I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions on how to deck a place out in a sleek modern style that's sexy and comfortable.

I have a big ass modern $2000 Sony TV but that's about it that i want to keep.

How much would it cost to pimp out a 1050 square foot loft? Any ideas. Do you know any designers that if I said, here is 10k, knock yourself out, they would give me a place to behold.

I have very little style and am very functional. I lived in war zones in trailers, or various hotels for years and I have never really had a my own place since my room at Mom & Dad's house.

This is something I've had on the brain quite a bit lately.
Like any bachelor pad, you need 4 distinct areas - kitchen, living/working, bedroom, bathroom.
They don't necessarily have to be separate but partition walls do have a nice feel to them.
In my experience the bare minimum for such a set-up is 35 square metres, so you've got a lot of space to work with.

The first thing I would advise is to decide on your style according to your personality - a pad that reflects the player can work wonders.
Do you enjoy technology and the feel of sophistication? Or maybe you like history and prefer the antiquated look? Sleek or comfortable? Functional or aesthetic?

Once you've got a 'theme' (god I hate using that word in this context) in mind, then you start to work outwards from there.

There are so many directions you can take. I suggest you do some research on some interior design to figure out which style best suits your personality.

I have 1200 sq ft. loft. I went for a mixture of both vintage industrial/antique. It's a bit of a mish mash, but I made it work.

The only thing I suggest is to keep the tones dark. Dark walls especially.

My place is NY-style small but great logistics.

Instead of trying to fight the size, I don't cut corners on furnishings but keep it minimalistic (e.g. less is more).

Also I was recently re-reading Tuthmosis' date thread and it sounds like he has a small studio, which obviously works for him.

And keep it clean...

While I don't think that I'll be personally able to help out that much with this, I think there's a few relevant questions:

1. Can you provide pictures of the place currently? Windows or other unique things would be pretty important for someone attempting to assist in designing your place.

2. What are your interests? This way your space can incorporate your interests.

3. What types of girls are you generally looking to pick up? You're in Vegas, do you want your place to exude vegas to attract the club sluts? Think about what you want to portray.

I also vote for a more minimalist look, I think it's easier on the psyche, been trying to go this way myself for some time. Slowly starting to get it.

Go see an interior designer with a budget - 10k or more.

Have consultations with a few, they're all either women or gay men, but some of both genders have a very masculine style, so that's why you want to meet with 3 or 4.

Or you could just watch HGTV to see what's cool, or buy some interior design books by Vicente Wolf and the like.

I'm going to be looking for a new place in a couple of months. I work from home and currently have a medium sized 1 bedroom apartment which I keep very tidy. I'm toying with the idea of getting a studio style unit since one of the big hangups I seem to get when going for the bang is the "move" from my small love seat to my bedroom. Women seem to have a major block about crossing that threshold into the "scary bedroom" where all kinds of evil things can happen Haha! I'm thinking a studio would eliminate a lot of that and like what has already been mentioned here I believe Tuthmosis has a studio. Has anyone experienced a difference in having a x bedroom vs. studio?

Make sure your couch is small enough that you two will touch while watching TV.

Make sure your alcohol is presented well, and she can sit while you make drinks.

Stick to dark, subdued and earthy colors. Textures should be woods, metals and leathers. Minimal look is best for men. Too decorated or too bright and colorful looks feminine. Should always have some plants around but don't get anything flowery, some nice cactus type plants are best for men, like snake plants. I had a few fake ficus trees in my old place just to fill out some empty corners, you can get those on sale from Michael's arts store for $25 on sale. Use rugs to create spacial relationships between different areas. Nothing bright and colorful, I actually had a cool dark brown rug made from bamboo that I used under my dining room table.

If you don't come from a creative background and have no clue about aesthetics, best to hire someone. Just look at some of the pinterest pins on bachelor pads, find something you like then show it to an interior designer. They'll handle the rest.

Also, the furnishings are largely determined by your flooring situation. Some apartments have ugly ass green or brown shag carpeting. Even if you have nice stuff, having terrible quality carpet can ruin the look of a place. Ideal floor is either wood or concrete(like you have in lofts). If not that, then a nice quality carpet, not that cheap ass shag shit put in most non-luxury apartments.

To add one note to Speakeasy's post, if you do have taste, there are sites's like Apartment Therapy where you can get ideas.

My place is all about logistics. It's in a great location for a variety of reasons including proximity to bars.
The apt. itself is not bad, just small. But I've made sure to not cheap out on the few furniture items I do buy.

We'll see how this works but instead of a sofa, I'll probably just get extra pillows for the bed (and that will be the seating area).

I like the minimal aesthetic anyway.

I've been putting a lot of thought into this myself, recently. I'm currently living in an apartment that I plan to stay in for only one year. Once that year is up, I plan to move somewhere a little more permanent, which I'll improve to my level of expectation.

For someone living in Vegas or in my case, close to the party district in Beijing, having a place that's good for pre-gaming and post-gaming is a winner. No matter where you live, a beer in a bar costs exceptionally more than the same beer in your own home.

Therefore, the ideal to shoot for, is a condo/apartment setup that is just as comfortable, if not more so, for you and your guests.

This allows you to the center of your social circle, rather on the outside. If your pad is a cheap and fun alternative to spending the entire night in pricy venues, hot women will come to you.

Here's some suggestions I've been playing with.

Pool/Dinner Table Combo

Unless you're a redneck and pool table is a useful place to conceive and deliver babies, generally investing in a pool table is a real waste of space, because you'll never end up using it that much. If you have the cash, however, a pool/dining room table combo is a fantastic thing to have.

The pool table will not waste space, as it easily disguised as a dining table, which has a daily functional purpose, but you can break out the pool table at any time when you are hosting guests or a full on party and want to bring the club/party vibe.

Hot Tub

If you can pull it off without having an apartment that smells of chemicals all day, every day, a hot tub would be a nice touch. There are few real ways to turn your apartment into a place where groups of women have a justifiable reason to get mostly naked. While I'd need some feed back from forum members on the effectiveness of hot tubs, this is a direction I've been thinking about. Of course, you need flooring that can handle the weight and an outdoor environment is preferable to indoor.

Showcase You

Find a way to showcase your talents or achievements in a way that isn't to try hard. In my case, having been playing guitar for 15 years, my ideal bachelor pad will have about six guitars displayed on the walls. No one is going to walk into my apartment without noticing them and when they ask about them, it's easy to pick one up and play something. Girls get wet panties for musicians.

In Skip's Steps case, he should have some framed photographs of him shaking hands with the President. Girls get wet panties for Obama.

Tweaks

1. Already mentioned above, but worth repeating. You do not want too much furniture, because it will give a girl too many options as to where she fits. You need a setup where the only conceivable place for her to park her ass is right next to yours on a couch that is just small enough to provoke incidental kino. This doesn't mean you can't have more than one couch, but you should only have one loveseat that offers a good view of the TV/general apartment.

2. Coffee table with game certified activities/books/photographs. This is discussed in depth elsewhere, but to summarize, when a woman sits down in the only place that it makes sense for her to sit down, she should be surrounded by artifacts that boost her perception of your value.

3. Don't draw too much attention to your bed, but don't ignore it either. The bed should be somewhere that women feel natural sitting, but it can't look too perfect or it'll rob her off plausible deniability.

4. Subtle sexual signals. You don't want porno mags on your coffee table, but tasteful references to sexual themes isn't a bad thing. I can't think of a good example, because Greek statues really aren't my cup of tea, but I'm going have to come up with something before I get my dream flat.

Suits, regarding your last point a good choice is art books- the large format ones with artistic nude or erotic themes, either photography or painting/drawing.

Another possibility is original art- paintings, prints, drawing, sculptures. Keep the eroticism subtle not blatant.

Either way will convey good taste, sophistication and set a sexual vibe.

WARNING: Take this with a grain of salt as I don't have my own place BUT have thrown so many after parties and practically LIVE in nightlife hahahaha, my #1 thing is "not killing the group vibe".

I think most "props" are distractions and a waste as it takes away from the overall "fun connection" which is why I the only thing I think is...

Will this bring people together or not?

Overall space should be minimal, functional and VERY COMFORTABLE...That is how majority of "high end" venues are. (Not counting those highly spectacle clubs with smoke machines, crazy lights, etc)

1. Open Space





Walls "block" space and creates splits in the overall room which could essentially kill the energy if their isn't alot of people. You want everyone to be able to see everyone so people near the kitchen is still in conversation with people in the living room.

2. Intimate/Homely Setup

#1 thing that makes "high end" places so awesome is the homely space. I've fallen asleep in these venues like it was my home. Also, whenever I wanted to kill time I just go to one of my fav rooftops and chill outside looking at the view.

IMO floor seating is best as it's the most unpretenious environment and encourages "group activities". (Taking off shoes at the door also is great for setting the tone)

Everyone has their own taste in overall style...













3. Group Activity Props

Keep the adventures started and/or going...
- Hookah
- "classy" alcohol (wine wine wine...don't waste on champagne)
- shots shots shots oooooo and more shots
- Alcohol


4. Low level music (I prefer indie dance or female vocal trance)

Honestly, I dislike hiphop nothing about it facilitates a fun "flirtatious" vibe. (twerking/grinding is not flirtatious just attention whoring) You want a chill yet upbeat vibe enabling bugout times yet still a chill vibe





















NOTE: One of my boys had a small "light" thing (like in clubs) and we ended up turning out all the lights. I'd assume THAT and/or a small smoke machine would be cool if it fits your overall personality/vibe. (I love partying but I dislike lights, I could probably due smoke occasionally)

5. Random Props Lying Around
I noticed chicks LOVE spotting whips, handcuffs or any bondage type of stuff. Add in masks and you have yourself a "instagram costume" spot...

Having a basket with that stuff out in the open is always a great idea because people can't help but play around with them. (1 time my boy was heading to a s&m club after brunch and he had a whip and handcuffs...Also for my female friend bday our boy brought a "caution" yellow tap which also was played with)

IMO things like board games, pool, etc are GREAT but for functionality can cause a "split" in the overall group as you'll have those playing and those elsewhere, it's not like people will all surround and watch, unless some bet is involved.

So IMO...
1. Bondage stuff (whip, paddle, hair massage thing, feathers, handcuffs)
2. Costume Stuff (masks, scarves, hates, BS accessories, gas mask)
4. Small Podium in center (for people to dance/tease/strip on)

Super personal info coming up!

Here's the layout for my pad, an apartment in an old building (somewhere in the Northern Hemisphere).

My roommate is finally moving out, and I am going to finish it up now. Already re-did the three main rooms, the kitchen, hall and bathroom are missing. They can't be moved from their current positions.

How do I decorate this bad boy? The room top-right is where I've slept until now. It gets very little light, but is nice and quiet. The two rooms in the bottom are out towards a busy street with traffic, but when the windows are closed it's no big deal. They get a lot of light - at about 2pm until 8 or 9pm in the summer. There's also a tiny balcony.

Looking forward towards your input gents - best ideas = open invite to crash and a weekend of obnoxious carousing!

Useful info: I've got about 1,000 books (not kidding), so I am toying with the idea of turning one room into a library. I'd also appreciate ideas for the bathroom, since the plumbing is visible and since the bathroom is only 3½ feet wide, I don't know how much space I can afford to lose. If I hid all the plumbing it'd cost me 2/3-1 foot of width.

The average room size is about 180 sq ft.

So in the bottom rooms, they're about 10-12 feet left to right, and 10-15 feet top to bottom. Also, from the hall you can walk straight into the room furthest to the right.

Love this thread. I'm looking to get a one bedroom, no roommate. I found an amazing spot with aroof patio out back. The whole thing is above a tavern that seems pretty chill.

I'm not sure if I want to build my own furniture but past attempts at that have taught me that it takes time and more money than you'd expect. I'm not a fan of ikea either so I'll probably utilize the antique shops that are everywhere in this town. I like the idea of sitting on the floor.

I keep thinking of the movie layer cake where the guy played by daniel craig has a pretty sleek setup that doesn't look all that expensive..or at least, could be done on something other than a coke dealer's salary.

The only furniture you need is a bed (with nice stylish sheets). When girls came over to my apartment they had to sit on my bed or the floor. A couch works too. I lived in a Japanese apartment and this type of setup was common, because of the space. I kept all my shit black and stylish, curtains and a nice rug. I also spent money on warm lighting and that was about it. Avoid florescent lighting at all costs.

Anything else puts distance between you and the girl. Less is more. Unless you host parties.

I have a large 48" whiteboard in my apartment. I use it for ideas and to draw on. Girls and guys love drawing on it when they come over. Make sure you have lots of colors!!

I have one too, but its glass. I bought it from a furniture store, its a frosted table top, double pane, $150. The actual glass whiteboards are $1000+. It looks great, but I always have to erase my diabolical plans whenever anyone comes over...

I play guitar and have several. I put them all up on the wall with guitar hangers, it looks really good, I currently have about 6 hanging up.
