Not watching scary movies too often.
But I remember back in the days when "The Ring" came to the cinemas.

That movie had me caught in tension pretty good.
I think I've never before or after been so deeply into a movie.
It captured 100% of my attention.

I should see it again now, the experience would probably be different.

Children Of The Corn scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. My older cousin made me watch it when I was in the 2nd grade or something like that.

My favorite scary movies are Evil Dead 2 and Scream. I also liked Poltergeist when I was a kid.

The Conjuring was good but Event Horizon is an all time great, the acting and the actual story (realising what has happened) really add to the scare factor.

Recently I think horrors in general have been crap though I remember one a few years back, it was about a girl who was a twin but her twin died and it due to some Nazi experiment on her grandmother and some prophecy. That shit was scary. I think it was called The Undead.

Good call on Poltergeist. That's the movie that freaked me out as a kid, I couldn't watch it, all because of this guy...

The Orphanage ("El Orfanato" in Spanish). Its not a jump out of your seat type of horror movie, but it is very "creepy" and powerful. Scared the shit out of me for weeks afterwards, and I was 16 when I saw it.

For me it was The Conjuring followed by John Carpenter's The Thing (though it may have been my young age at the time). Conjuring was ten times scarier than the Exorcist due to the director holding back at the right times. Like Jaws, it's what you don't see that fucks around with your mind's eye. 10/10 for both films (and the remake of the Thing SUCKED!)
