What happened to Kim jong un.

You don't hear about him much anymore.

Conspiracy theory: The plot of this movie happened for real(of course with less comedic elements) and the powers that be don't want to let the public to get the idea that Kim jong un is dead.

Having a single giant body guard is retarded.
That's good only for pushing away fans and drunk idiots in a public setting.
If there was an actual attempt on him by a trained assassin or at least skilled and coordinated amateurs, you would want at least a 3 person team of ex secret service or SAS. They don't tend to be massively huge, but intelligent and agile.
A 3 person team allows for a wedge formation or a 4 person for a hard diamond formation. The idea is to protect the principal at all times, while maintaining 360 degree threat awareness and the capacity to respond to a threat.
A single bodyguard can easily miss something, or be distracted while the principal is targeted.

RE: Sony cancels the release of "The Interview"
Quote:After Sony canceled the release of the North Korea assassination comedy The Interview, a Texas theater said it would swap the film with Paramount's 2004 film Team America: World Police for one free screening.

"We're just trying to make the best of an unfortunate situation," James Wallace, creative manager and programmer at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema's Dallas/Fort Worth location, tells The Hollywood Reporter.

American flags and other patriotic items will be given out by theater employees, Wallace says.

The plot of Team America, co-written by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, revolves around Kim Jong Il, the father of current North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. The posters promoting the R-rated movie in 2004 included the tagline, "Putting the 'F' Back in Freedom."

In The Interview, Seth Rogen and James Franco's characters are tasked with assassinating Kim Jong Un.

The Alamo Drafthouse movie theater in Dallas, Texas, will be showing Team America: World Police in place of The Interview on Dec. 27 at 7 p.m. Wallace says that the Dallas/Fort Worth location is the only location as of now that is planning to screen the replacement film.

In a note on its website, the theater added: "THAT is how true American heroes will be celebrating this year, but if you want to let the terrorists win...well, that's your prerogative."

Sony canceled the release of The Interview earlier on Wednesday after the country's five largest theater chains all decided against showing the film, saying in a statement: "We respect and understand our partners’ decision and, of course, completely share their paramount interest in the safety of employees and theater-goers."

Be careful when trying to get a torrent version. Apparently no legit version exists and they're all scams.

What next -- will they call for publishers recalling books?

I could be wrong, but I don't think this violated any constitutional rights. First theaters, then Sony made the decision, not the federal or state government.

Japanese conglomerate pulls shitty movie because it realizes it will make more money from the publicity of pulling shitty film than it would make from actually showing shitty film.

The movie is already paid for so they dont loose anything from that. Hollywoods business is making movies, not actually making goos movies, so box office incomes are just a plus.

Here's a novel idea:

1. Create movie with a depiction of Muhammid
2. When terrorists attack targets or kill people, announce a new "War on Islam".
3. ???
4. PROFIT!

The Interview was a high level troll by Sony (Japanese) against the belligerent North Koreans. Or maybe this is a publicity stunt to increase interest in it.

Either way, this "banned" movie is now going to be hella popular.

I think it is high time the US took on North Korea and liberated those people. It wouldn't be very hard, in fact it would be hilariously easy, likely with very few casualties on the US side. If I was Obama I would be getting tired of Korea's bullshit and human rights violations. Would be a lot better use of funds to liberate North Korea than the war that never ends in 'insert lucky middle eastern country of the year here'.

Yeah ... remember Iraq? They said that they were suffering under a horrible dictator and that they'd be welcomed as liberators and that there'd be no casualties - hell, they thought it'd pay for itself with the expected increase in Iraqi oil production. Look how that turned out.

OK, would you support a draft for such an expedition? Would you be willing to possibly have your name selected in such a draft to go over there and "liberate those people?"

If not, we know such a thing is bullshit.

As for the situation, just another example of a pussified and totally emasculated country. A shitty movie is getting pulled, but now every faggot in the world is going to be emboldened to issue threats demanding for studios to pull things they don't like.

Not so easy. Unless your only goal is to bomb North Korea by air to destroy key installations and make the government collapse. A ground invasion would not be easy when people have been brainwashed and the soldiers would very likely fight and die and take more than a token number of US soliders. That's not really the main problem though. North Korea's desperate response would be.
North Korea could likely kill tens of thousands of people or more in Seoul with the thousands of artillery pieces they have near the border.
And if they managed to deliver one of their Hiroshima nukes, well, even worse.
Sure, the USA military would prevail with relatively low losses, but there would be widespread civilian casualties in South Korea.

And after the glorious liberation of North Korea, then what? It's a question that scares the shit out of South Korean politicians. Reunifying the Koreas would be massively expensive. They have considered the case of German reunification, which cost West Germany over 1 trillion to date. Also North Korea is so underdeveloped and stone aged compared to East Germany pre reunification it would be much more difficult and much more expensive.

The 1st has been already done. It was a short movie of the crappiest quality about mohammed being depicted like a primitive simpleton. The video has been hidden and covered so well that I can't even find it. The actors and the actresses didn't know what they were acting in, they thought it was a comedy movie about some nobody. Then their voices got dubbed and the name Mohammed was replaced with the name of the main character. Anyway, it caused outrage, I don't know if anybody died but it got pulled by every video site. Nobody attacked the terrorists, not even verbally.

The point is, if you are familiar with the south park episode Cartoon Wars, people like Cartman will always win. People will think like ''is comedy worth people getting killed by a bomb?'' instead of being concerned with free speech. They will prefer covering their asses in short term instead of fighting against oppression in long term.

The biggest and the most common bullshit being used in these discussions is ''You have to respect my beliefs''. No you dumb fuck, I don't. I have to respect your right to have beliefs, meaning I can't force you to leave or adopt certain beliefs, and that's about all I have to do. I don't have to respect your prophet and avoid his depiction just because your beliefs tell you so. But of course, nobody questions this anymore, everybody is in favor of respecting other people's beliefs, literally respecting, like providing public immunity. You can make fun of Jesus, Jews, but you can't touch Islam. ''Of course you can't. Do you want people to die?''

These are all signs that free speech in the world has officially lost its battle to terrorism and bullying. This thread is not about some lame movie or talentless actors. We should focus on the bigger picture.

RE: Sony cancels the release of "The Interview"
Well, gang, things just got a whole lot worse.

Theaters were going to substitute showings of the 2004 film "Team America" for "The Interview," with at least one theater in Texas confirming a show date. But now that's been canceled too. Paramount Pictures, who owns the movie rights, has pulled it from all theaters.

Here is a link to the Washington Post story about this. Notice that the story announcing screenings of "Team America" is at the bottom, but at the top it says "Update" and explains about the cancellation.

I've lived a long time and seen some awful stuff happen to America, but I think this is a symbolic representation of how American ideals are pretty much finished.

You can thump your chest, drive your bad-boy pickup, and chant "USA USA!" all you want. But you now live in a country that's running scared and cannot even show its own films.

Freedom of speech only works if you have the might to enforce that. Looks like we don't anymore.

Maybe this will make people step back and think about the path we're on. We've become a nation of coddled, sensitive wimps who need "trigger warnings" and can't win a war because we made our military a social experiment.

Now we pay the price and have not one, but two precedents set where we're too scared of outside threats to show films. What next? They demand we dump Nicki Minaj and play K-Pop instead? Hey, that might be an improvement (kidding).
