Best place in Colombia during NYE/Jan?
Tried to search but found conflicting advice so posting question instead... I'm planning a trip to Colombia from 25 dec to 18 jan. I have four purposes with this trip:
- Work on e-biz
- Improve my Spanish
- Meet latinas
- If possible some windsurfing (I heard Lago Calima would be best choice for this?)
Since I plan on filling my days with above activities, I'm not too bothered with spending time in a "boring" city in it's traditional sense.
Now, I have searched and read here that travel to Colombia is sensitive to timing with holidays etc. Also, when I was in Medellin/Bogota in 2013 during easter it was a disaster in terms of places closed, people out on Clubs etc, so I would want to avoid that if possible.
Considering the above, where should I go? Will Cali/Medellin be empty during Jan?
It would also be a plus if the city is suitable for Daygame.
Thanks.

RE: Best place in Colombia during NYE/Jan?
You have a few decent options, the best would be to hit up the Feria de Cali from the 25th til the 31st to party your ass off, the 31st will be dead in most bigger cities, last year I left Cali for the Pacific coast to chill for a couple of days and take it easy post-feria. Soon after that, you will have two other excellent party options, either the party in Pasto, Carnaval de Blancos y Negros which runs from January 2-7th or you can hit up the Feria de Manizales, I attended the latter last year and it was decent, I will return again next year. After that, if I was you, I'd chill in Medellin for a bit, although it will be a bit slow there (as all the big three cities will be at that time), then hit up the Caribbean coast for a few days. Another solid option would be to go to Cartagena in early January to attend the huge outdoor EDM party called Summerland, that would be a great time, I'm not a huge fan of the Caribbean coast to be honest but it would be worth it to check out for a few days, if you hit up that party and parque Tayrona, that would be a nice trip.
God damned them all, I was told we'd cruise the seas for American gold, we'd fire no guns-shed no tears, now I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier, the last of Barrett's privateers!
