Age old idioms that ring true...
I am no linguistic expert, but I believe idioms are timeless old sayings that usually impart wisdom and truth. Recently I've shared the story of my relationship/game fuck up, amongst many others in the past, and have been reflecting on the mistakes that I've made. One thing that I did was repeatedly ignore red flags that were there, and while thinking about this, I came to realize that there were so many timeless bits of wisdom, or old idioms that directly applied to what I had been through.

Now I'm not suggesting that any of this is ground breaking stuff or new revelations, in fact it's quite the opposite, these old idioms have been around for ages, but are useful reminders of things that we may often overlook or ignore. So in the future when I am faced with these red flags I will remind myself and repeat these old idioms, because it's classic, timeless wisdom, that held true during our Grandparents days, and will continue to hold true in the future if we have grand kids of our own.

Maybe I'm reaching here, but I almost feel like a lot of these old sayings may have come about as a result of the nature of women, and have been passed down from men, as nuggets of truth and wisdom. So I propose we share any of these old idioms with one another, and break down their meanings and how they apply to women, game, relationships, etc.

I have a handful to share, that I feel are very applicable and relevant, please add on to my list if anyone has any more to share, or feel free to breakdown, discuss, or expand on the ones I list.

"Birds of a feather flock together:" Now this can apply to men, as well as women, but I feel it is particularly poignant when it comes to women... Basically people gravitate towards those who they share common interests and similarities with. The vast majority of my ex-girlfriends friends were raging sluts, while she tried to down play it, and even turn it around on me when I called them out, by saying I was being "judgmental", truth is women tend to hang out with other women they can "relate" to. If a woman is "wholesome" and not a slut, chances are her friends are NOT going to be e-popping cock carousel riders.

"You can't teach an old dog new tricks:" I want to change this to you can't teach an old bitch new tricks. Basically, if a bitch has got a lot of skeletons in her closet (another idiom), she's been a party girl, a dick swinging, cum guzzling slut, chances are she isn't going to change, or hasn't really changed, no matter what she says. Like another old saying goes, "old habits die hard". I feel this is especially true for women, as I've come to the conclusion that women have much less capacity to grow and evolve than men do.

"If it looks like a duck, it walks like a duck, and it quacks like a duck... It's a duck:" In other words if she's got tattoos and piercings, where's super skimpy revealing clothes, then she has all the markings of a slut. If you show me a duck and ask me what it is, I will look at you like you're stupid, and say "it's obviously a duck." Well the same rules should apply when it comes to spotting a slut.

"If you lay with dogs, you catch fleas:" Basically, if you fuck with a dumb slut, you are asking for it, you will get burned... Whether it be getting cheated on, catching an STD, getting hit with a false rape charge, or bogus domestic violence charge, or simply getting fucked over and getting your heart broken, if you lay with a dog, you will catch fleas.

To advanced guys on here, this thread may seem kind of pointless or stupid, but I will admit that I have fucked up in the game, and have completely ignored the age old wisdom of these idioms. In the future, whenever I find myself face to face with a woman that displays the characteristics of a slut, I will repeat these idioms to myself over and over again, to remind myself that no matter how sweet she tries to act, how much she's claimed she's changed, how much she denies her true slut self, I will know that there is a reason why these old sayings are classic timeless wisdom, because they are simply true, and you can not deny the truth.

On a side note, many English idioms have pretty close counterparts in other Indo-European languages, and may have some linguistic links, or not.

We "call a spade a spade," while in French they say, "Appeler un chat un chat" (to call a cat a cat).

The Spanish version of "speak of the devil" is "Hablando del ruin de Roma… luego a soma." (Speak of the fall of Rome, then it appears."
The English version is probably a shortened version of the German idiom, "Wird der Teufel genannt, kommt er gerannt." (Speak of the devil, and he come running.)

Anyway, lots of languages have these parallel sayings. A lot of old school wisdom can be gleaned from sayings in other tongues.

More here, for starters:

I once in a while like to look up idioms of other cultures, and they frequently have great wisdom. My favorite is a Somali proverb that says "One finger alone cannot wash an entire face".

Foot in the door, cock in the whore.

No means yes, yes means anal.

God damned them all, I was told we'd cruise the seas for American gold, we'd fire no guns-shed no tears, now I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier, the last of Barrett's privateers!

Bro's before hoes.

Girls come and go. Girls that I've had deep relationships with a few years ago are like complete strangers to me today. But I've got a few close knit bros going back 5-10 years and one guy I've been friends with since we met out on the T-ball field when we were only 5-6 years old. A girl that is your other half today can be a complete stranger a year from now. I try not to forget that.

"The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree". Probably true for men to some extent, but it seems to ring truer for women in my experience. I was involved with a girl that described her mom as narcissistic, blame deflecting, and never in the wrong (and she cheated on her dad - 3 times). She was the spitting image, go figure.

"What goes around comes around."

"You get what you pay for."

And one of my own: "If you act like an asshole, I'lll treat you like an asshole."

“….and we will win, and you will win, and we will keep on winning, and eventually you will say… we can’t take all of this winning, …please Mr. Trump …and I will say, NO, we will win, and we will keep on winning”.

"A good deed never goes unpunished"

Particularly poignant to game, despite not being an ancient phrase.

I too am a strong believer in idioms. We use them a lot in Holland. Reminding myself of an idiom kept me out of all sorts of trouble.

To stick to an American idiom Smile

One I used recently while teasing a chick,

嘘から出た誠
Basically, truth from a lie. Or the truth is said in jest.
