I watched The Fifth Estate clip the other day. I remember one scene where the interviewer explains that one part of being "under oath" is to tell the whole truth. The accuser airhead then says something like "But I didn't lie, I just left that out, I omitted it, it wasn't a lie."

The interviewer doesn't bother explaining the oath to her again, probably realizing it's hopeless.

So glad these nutcases got smacked down by a sane judge.

Not to harp on, but again this is postmodernism and moral relativism cloaking and excusing lies. It is entirely a product of post-1995 culture. Fifty years ago using the phrase "my truth" marked you as mentally unbalanced. It's Newspeak, or, grammatically, an oxymoron: a contradiction in terms, because truth is perhaps the ultimate of objectivity, while "my" is the heart of subjectivity.

Insane people are permitted their own truths. People can proudly pronounce it's their truth that you can walk on a flashlight beam, others that reptilian aliens are microwaving our brains. But only an insane society allows those people to impose their truths on others. At least the fucking Communists had the argument of "majority consent" to justify sending to the gulag those who didn't subscribe to the local shared delusion. Even in a monarchy a king's delusions would (eventually) be checked either by his courtiers, other ambitious families, or a popular revolt from other classes in the society. Only where narcissism reigns as king can anyone take seriously the idea that a subjective belief held by one person should be permitted to throw another in prison.

I don't think it's a Freudian slip. It is a strategic regrouping.

Reminds me of what Bill Burr says about arguing with women: if they have the facts, or know you don't, they will argue about the facts. If they don't have the facts, they will go off on a tangent.

She was only pretending to tell the truth, figuring she could get away with it. When she got busted, she just redrew the playing field and pretended she was talking about her truth all along.

Imagine if, when she was recounting her accusations in court, the prosecutor had said, well, that's not Gian's truth. She would have jumped all over it, saying she was speaking the real truth.

No, it was only after she got busted lying that the idea of a personal truth made its way onto the table.

It is amazing how precise and painstaking women can be when it suits them, and conversely, how vague and slippery.

The personal is the political.

Once Ghomeshi signs the document, also called a recognizance, prosecutor Michael Callagahan is expected to formally withdraw the charge.

Peace bonds are a pragmatic tool of the courts, often used to deal with allegations of misconduct that either don’t rise to the level of criminal behaviour, or barely meet the threshold.

Ghomeshi’s acquittals came in alleged incidents that dated back to 2002 and 2003 and involved three complainants, all of whom were dating him casually.

The current charge is different in that it goes back to 2008, allegedly happened at the CBC itself, where Ghomeshi was then the beloved golden-boy host of the radio show Q, and involved a female colleague.

There was also purportedly a witness to the incident, which consisted of Ghomeshi allegedly groping the woman and grinding himself into her backside.

This woman, like two of the complainants involved in the first trial, can’t be named because of a publication ban on her identity — despite the fact that in 2014, when the headlines about Ghomeshi first erupted, she made public statements in her own name about what purportedly happened to her.

This latest development is bound to further fan the controversy that greeted Ghomeshi’s earlier acquittals and fuel the ongoing national debate about how police and prosecutors handled not only these complaints in particular but also sex assault allegations in general.

Ghomeshi will appear at the Old City Hall courts Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Let's recap - a bunch of bitter bitches are mad at a rich successful they man briefly dated more than a decade ago decided to collude and bring bullshit charges against him. He lost his job, connections , 100 grand in legal fees, and was publicly humiliated- and the charges fell apart under the most basic scrutiny.

A chick from 2008 accuses him of grabbing her ass as spitting bad game, the court chooses to let him take the equivalent of a plea of no contest because the prosecution sees they will lose if a judge (not a jury) hears the case.

So ultimately nothing happened but formerly attractive women ,once they were washed up and ugly , got bitter and felt some kind of way about his continued success and bedding of young hot things. This is where we are gentleman, don't piss any of your decade old flings off!
