True but it is still part of the USA, which is why getting ICE (immigration and customs enforcement) involved seemed unusual, but it's also likely she broke some federal law too - maybe because she used cell phones with signals and apps crossing territorial lines, who knows.

Are we sure that she is American? Maybe she's a Dominican (or whatever) who has a teaching certificate and authorization to work in PR. Also, if by "transport" they mean that she moved the kid anywhere outside of PR (including to the mainland), that could trigger ICE/DHS involvement almost immediately. Finally, as was already alluded to, if there were any sexts or pictures sent via cell/computer, you run in to a jurisdictional issue. DHS has a lot of leeway over what they can and will pickup, as goes investigation.

Cowan-Wilson worked for the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board in 2016 when she was originally charged. She met the boy in 2011 when he was 12 and she was his basketball coach.

The two began sending text messages to each other the following year when she was his primary teacher for Grade 8.

When the boy moved to Grade 9 in a different school, Cowan-Wilson managed to convince the boy’s mother to let him help coach her basketball team.

The court was told that after she picked him up, they would drive to a Costco parking lot where she would straddle and fondle him. She bought the boy alcohol, sent him photos of her in lingerie and told him she was unhappy in her marriage.

Eventually, the boy’s sister found a “love letter” Cowan-Wilson sent him for his fifteenth birthday and showed it to her mother who then called the police.

The victim’s name is protected by a publication ban and was too distraught to be in court. However, in a victim impact statement, the now 19-year-old man said he suffered from anger, guilt and shame since the sexual encounters.

“We chose not to go to trial,” the boy’s mother said on Tuesday outside court. “There is a lifetime of healing ahead for us. No sentence could satisfy us.”

Cowan-Wilson is still married and has a six-month-old daughter and works as an office administrator. The weekend sentence allows her to remain the child’s primary caregiver.

Policing sexuality was less of a priority then. I knew a dude who had an affair with a teacher in the seventies, but he was way ahead of his time in player swagger, a complete anomaly. I wouldn't be surprised if he had seduced her by wearing her down.

It was only whispered about though, and even he, when asked, did no more than give a roguish shrug. There was still some semblance of private life at the time, so people didn't feel like sharing private things with the world was natural, and, just as important, people didn't feel like they had a right to know everything.

No one knew for sure, and that was good, because it gave people operating room to make mistakes and learn from them, or even just to make their own decisions without feeling like they were walking on eggshells waiting for a lawsuit or a call from the police.

I remember guys in high school, not many, but a few, dating particularly mature 8th graders, but again, it was gossiped about and no one really knew for sure what was going on. It definitely wasn't approved of by people in general, that was for sure, so the morals weren't necessarily laxer than today.

I remember girls in high school dating guys in their twenties, and for sure, high school guys were resentful and jealous and critical of a man in his twenties going for a teen girl. Ultimately though, it was the girl's choice and people respected that. There were no denunciations or call outs. It was just how it was, and you turned your attention to something else.

It was more a case of people feeling, and this is going to sound crazy, reluctant to be judgmental about other people. Nowadays it seems as if the average person has nothing better to do than sniff the air looking, always looking, for some grievance or accusation to make.

In those days you didn't see it as your place.

The sense of unearned moral righteousness had yet to become mainstream.

This is the generation of sensationalism, fake internet crap, and acting out. Not only are there more people, the percentage of people doing crazy shit and who weren't raised right has both gone up.

You have to be very discerning when applying changes over the ages. In general, "there's nothing new under the sun" is true, but if you don't understand that we cycle between major tradition, industriousness and growth, and then eventually wealth/affluence and depravity, you aren't paying attention to history either.

Walsh had been employed by the district since 2014, starting as a substitute educational assistant, a spokeswoman for Sycamore Community Schools told the Cincinnati Enquirer. She later worked as a full-time educational assistant before becoming a special education teacher at the high school in 2015, spokeswoman Mallory Bonbright said.

In a letter sent to parents, the district’s superintendent said that the alleged encounters did not occur on school grounds.

“We find the reported allegations to be shocking, upsetting and take them very seriously,” Superintendent Frank Forsthoefel said. “We are committed to fully working with the Montgomery Police Department in their investigation and to take appropriate action to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.”

The alleged victim is not a student with disabilities, a school spokeswoman told WCPO. Walsh had been on personal leave since last month, according to the station, which noted her recent employee evaluations cited her “positive impact and clear effort to build relationships” with students.

Walsh, who was released from custody after posting bail, received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Cincinnati, where she also played lacrosse in 2011-14, according to the Enquirer, citing a team website.

Walsh, who could not be reached for comment, finished her collegiate lacrosse career with 282 saves, good enough for second all-time at the university.

I was recently at a party where the hosts younger brother, a 19 yo guy who graduated high school, got pretty drunk.

He ended up telling me how his teacher seduced him his senior year of high school, and how his mother is now suing the school district for MILLIONS.

This kid is decent looking, but definitely not Chad.

The year this happened, his biological father passed away, and he suffered from two unexplained seizures. He was in an extremely emotionally vulnerable state, and she knew it.

She got close to him, he fell "in love" with her, and the relationship turned sexual. She knew her sexuality was key to manipulating him, although it wasn't what she was really interested in.

What she really wanted, and what she ended up convincing him to do, was for him to basically worship her like a God. Constant romantic gestures, total adoration, unflinching attention, etc. That is what many of these women want- total power over someone who worships and glorifies them.

Put yourself in their shoes- while they adore Chad and want his babies, they suffer the constant anxiety and traumas that comes from not being able to control him.

There are probably many more women who would do this if they could, but only the beautiful ones think they can get away with it. Sadly, they're probably right a lot of the time.

That is a truly messed up story.

I know a lot of people say that there is nothing wrong with a young guy getting sex from an older woman, but they always leave out the potential for mind fucking that the older woman has over the younger man.

It isn't just the sex.

She could plant seeds of suspicion and distrust in his subconscious about women in general that will never go away.
