I had a similar experience. You really need to be pushing for first date bangs, imo, so you don't waste your time. But some girls girls have great personalities and you might want to add a 2nd date, but definitely no more than 3 dates. I noticed that if I didn't pull on the first date, many girls were reluctant to come out again, so take that for what its worth.

I had a different strategy that worked well 4 years ago. I don't know if things have changed.
At the time, it seemed very easy to get cute girls online to come visit me, usually with their motorbikes, at Vin com Center mall.
Since most girls seemed rather conservative, compared to the Philippines, I made sure to set up 3 dates per day (about 1 hour each at the mall), at the beginning of my stay, and screen for English ability, attractiveness and sexual openness. There was very little flakiness.
Later on, I averaged 2 first meetings per day and 2nd dates at night with dinner and drinks. For me, dinner and drinks 2nd dates led to way better results, than just one of the two alone. HCM is the only city I have been to, where that was the case, to such a degree.
I don't remember ever going out on a 3rd date.

I agree with chochemonger. I think most girls in Vietnam can be cracked with 2 dates. I've never been flaked on, and in fact flaked on many girls myself. They'll always reschedule, sometimes multiple times if you need to.

I also think dinner and drinks is unnecessary unless you're dating a girl who's a little more well off. Night dates usually consist of coffee (Vietnamese people drink coffee at virtually any time of the day), ice cream, grabbing some kind of other snack and walking around a park, or RARELY movies. I actually like movie dates here because half the time you can't understand each other anyway, so the excuse that you "can't talk" isn't valid. Plus movies are cheap as shit compared to America.

Sweet Pea, it might because I am older. Dinner told the girls that I was more serious than your average foreigner, and not just looking for a slut. Then the drinks softened them up, for when it came to taking them back to my place.
I knew 2 or 3 different restaurants that were good and modestly priced, around where I lived. Dinner, also made some girls, who were hesitant to drink at first, open up to the idea.
In the Phils, age differences among men and women are higher. In Vietnam I went out with mostly 22 to 26 year olds, which is higher than what I usually try to average.

You want to remember Vietnamese culture is still very conservative where people date for years without having sex before getting married.
Girls who just sleep with one guy before marriage are still considered sluts, and most guys refuse to marry non-virgins.

Great information in this thread I am going to HCMC in April. I saw the warning that many hotels wont allow girls to stay overnight. Is this also an issue when you get an apartment on Airbnb? Do the apartment building have a doorman that may reject you?

Saigon is my favorite city in the world. Its pure madness. I spent three weeks there in February and had a blast.

Hotel: Saigon River Boutique Hotel

I paid around $20 for a windowless room. Window rooms cost $35ish. AC, safe, refrigerator. Free breakfast on the rooftop terrace with nice views. Its open all day, good place to relax with a beer or coffee. Excellent location in D1 near the river, 15 minute walk to the backpacker area. Very clean, safe and girl friendly.

Pool Party: Every Saturday at the New World Saigon Hotel (D1) there is a pool party. Usually filled with a mixture of age 20-30 expats, a few travelers and local girls. Local girls tend to be foreigner groupies/entertainment workers/hookers. Mostly 5-7s, you see the same girls there every week. Good way to kill an afternoon for $6 and its easy to pull from.



That tattoo lizard and her fake cans is there every Saturday.

Gym: The Manor. About a 5-10 minute ride from the center of D1. Its an expat apartment compound with a great pool (they don't monitor access to the pool) and a well equipped gym with free weights, squat racks and cardio machines. The gym was pricey for a day pass ($12-15) but memberships were around $50/month.




Food: My first night in town a Tinder girl picked me up on her motorbike and gave me a tour around Saigon. Never banged but one of my most memorable travel experiences. She then took me to this amazing restaurant. I don't know the name of the place but the address is: 33 Nguyễn Trung Trực, Bến Thành, Hồ Chí Minh, Vietnam. Its basically a garage and the doors are open to a smaller side street. Great place to relax, eat, drink and watch the world go by.

Another place is Bia Hoi Ha Noi. It caters to 90% Vietnamese and its amazing. Picture tiny plastic chairs, bamboo tables, endless 0.25c beers in cold glass mugs and family style eating. 10 of us ate and drank for hours with a total tab of around $40. The girls all stared and smiled at us and the dudes came over to toast, clank glasses and try to teach us some Vietnamese. One of the French guys in my group is fluent in Vietnamese, and they were floored. After the meal is over, they collect the mugs, flip the table over, sweep the food into a hole in the ground and wash the table for the next group. These places are all over the place. Highly recommended.

I did not want to start a new topic so I will put this here.

Can anyone recommend a good hotel to stay at in Ho Chi Minh with relaxed policy of bringing girls back and offering transfers from airport if possible?

I plan to visit in October for 5 days then travel to Phu Quoc Island which was recommended to me looks absolutely beautiful.

I am pre chatting to girls on Tinder already and it certainly blown up I got one who really excited about going to the Island with me. Any tips on travel I have been reading through will be my first time outside of Europe traveling from England will probably take Vietnam Airlines as its a direct flight then look for a domestic flight to Phu Quoc.
