Hey guys,

I'm a paranoid SOB and have some money to burn. I've been looking at gas masks online for a varying set of reasons. However, they all seem to be all over the place in terms of costs.

Between ebola, tear gas, and other fun stuff I'm curious what mask would do the best work?

From the research that i've done, i'm going to need some re-fill filter canisters and one that completely encapsulates my face. I'm also going to start shaving daily once I get the mask.

Any tips would be appreciated!

You can get the Israeli ones for little money. I have one but I've never used it.

So, in any chemical/ biological warfare environment your protective measures are matched to your perceived or known threat ( known meaning someone is already choking to death). So, ID the specific threat and then match your protective measures.

If you want more specific information on any of those threats just start googling. Lots of information out there open source. Fair warning though, that shit'll keep you up at night.

Wise move. If it's the ebola you're understandably worried about, in addition to the gas mask itself, I would invest in a full on protective suit. Ebola can be contracted through simply just touching an infected person. Stock up on food and water also, lord knows I wouldn't want to go outside in a scenario like this. Better to have them and not need them, than to need them and not have them.

If this comes to South America, I'll buy what I need to to increase my odds.

A suit is really difficult to get into quickly. I'm hoping to find a mask I can quickly get into.

They work if they are on..
It wont save you.
By the time you know that something is in the air..its too late to put your mask on..you've already been breathing it.

You probably wont carry it 24/7.
Unless you can make it to the gas mask..take it out the box/bag and put it on, clear it..and make sure its not leaking in 9 seconds...

rubber gloves
eye goggles
disposable face masks.

Bleach
