Maybe Jezebel is trying to cut some fat and age from their staff writers.

Alas the young generation of female hamsters do not want to look reality into the face by seeing that their potential future is barren, single, fat and alone - plust not overly attractive.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. It is a cardinal sin for any employee to ever bad mouth his or her boss. Do these clowns like her not think bosses talk to each other, even indirectly through their subordinates? My father ran his own business for 23 years. There was a massive amount of intra-industry rivalry, gossip and schadenfreude between the various business owners and their managers. It was pathetic, really. Yet despite all of that, certain employees (particularly salesmen) got a reputation as being difficult pricks to deal with and no one would touch them with a ten foot pole after a while.

Maybe Denton's rivals don't like him and are secretly laughing at his expense over all of this, but they're also not stupid. Lindy West might -- might -- get another shot, but if she screws that one up, she's definitely washed up.

Others have mentioned the possibility that she was cut loose for the open letter earlier this month. Perhaps the best way to determine that will be if her works get a 404 in the near future. One would imagine that if someone found her work in gawker and then searched google for more, all the newer links to vice would be bad for gawker's page views.
