FORT LEE, Va. (AP) — An active shooter has been reported at the Fort Lee Army base in central Virginia.

Officials say the base has been put on lockdown and personnel there have been told to enact active shooter protocols.

The four-story building involved is the headquarters building for the base and houses the Combined Arms Support Command.

No other details were immediately available.

The base is about 25 miles south of Richmond, Virginia, and about 130 miles from Washington.

Apparently it was a woman, and she botched her own shooting?

A case study against women in combat, perhaps? "Women can't even go postal correctly!"

Will be interesting to see how the shooter's sex will affect responses to this event. I'm betting there will be a lot more sympathy this time around to the shooter for what prompted her to be disgruntled, that we should not judge her because she is say, a mother separated from her children, a wife separated from her family, etc. That we should not judge her because we didn't face the troubles she did... The sorts of things they dole out for a woman who murdered an allegedly abusive husband.

I think if the female doing the shooting is a tranny then they will all get labelled as crazy.

Statistically most shooters have no military training, in spite of stereotypes. But the fact this happened right on a military base it's probably either a servicemember or a crazy spouse. And yes, the press is a lot less excited about this now that they know it was a woman and not the stereotypical white guy for which they had hoped.

An enraged soldier with a gun barricaded herself in an office inside a major command's headquarters, throwing objects and then shooting herself in the head as law enforcement officials tried to negotiate with her, the Army said Monday.
