I put myself in the position of those suffering from the disease. Personally if I was suffering from a terminal illness and saw people dumping ice water on their heads to show solidarity I'd be insulted. "See what it's like to walk in my shoes" would be my reaction. I would rather see money and time being spent on ways to find a cure than to see people and celebrities stroking their egos on youtube for advertising and awareness. But that's just me; to each their own.

I read that 7% of donations are spent on research. 79% on promotional activities by this ALS organisation. Make of that what you will.
