If anyone is curious about their reciprocity style and how they compare to others in their age range, occupation, or state you can take this quick 15 question assessment.

53% taker.

47% matcher.

I think if someone is a massive giver, they'll help others a lot at the detriment of themselves. There are very few people out there who are massive givers.

I got 75% matcher. I like to pay back favors.

I won't lie, I don't do favors for people that come off to me as takers. I assume 95% of women are takers.

Sounds about right. I don't keep a detailed record of favors owed, but I do have a general sense. I try to avoid being a leech or being leeched on.

I think I got pushed towards taker by the last few questions of "What is this person's motivation for doing this?" where I gave the cynical response every time. Seems a bit of a fallacy to assume that only evil people would presume others to be evil.

I enjoyed the other threads regarding /thread-23162.html and the Myers-Briggs personality types.

Of course this is an imperfect assessment. The creator of the test is Adam Grant and he is a Professor at Wharton who believes giving can open more doorways to success. I just finished reading the book and found the idea interesting.

I always thought of myself as more of a matcher, though in certain situations I can be a taker.

I'll happily buy someone a drink if they have done so for me before, or if they are the kind that would if I'm short of money. I'd never buy a drink for a known tight-ass though.
