Need Recs on South America Trip
Hi, I'm about to go on a 3-3 1/2 month South America trip and am about to buy the tickets. The tickets will cost $150 to change per segment and i have 3 segments= $450 to make changes.

Here is what i have so far:

April 13 Fly to Buenos Aires (2- 2 1/2 weeks)
7-9 days Buenos Aires
3-5 days Cordoba
possible 3 day add ons Mendoza, Montevideo, Foz do Iguazu
travel by bus to Sao Paulo, briefly stopping in Porto Alegre
Curitiba

May 2 Brazil 5 1/2-6 weeks
10 days Sao Paulo
10 days Rio
2-3 days each in Belo Horizonte, Cuiaba, Goiania, Vitoria and
Curitiba
Remaining time in Rio and other cities

June 13 Fly Sao Paulo to Lima
Lima 7-9 days
A few days each in Quito and Cuenca
Possibly add on Arequipa or maybe someplace near Bolivia
Colombia (3 weeks)
Spend time in Medellin, Cali, Santa Marta, Baraquilla, Cartagena, Pereira, Manizales, maybe Bogota

Fly home around July 18th or so.

Any recommendations for my itinerary? My schedule is not super tight, if there are some awesome recommendations, i may consider adding them or changing parts of my itinerary.

Also thinking about delaying my trip by 1-2 weeks. Will it start to get really cold in Sao Paulo and northwards by mid -May? That is equivalent to mid-November, so i'm thinking that it will start to get fairly cold there. Thanks!!!!

RE: Need Recs on South America Trip
Here is what I would do with 3.5 months in SA.

Fly into Venezuela

Work your way west to the Caribbean coast of Colombia. Then travel south hitting all the major cities in Colombia.

Then go to Lima, spend some time here and go see machu pichu.

Then fly to Buenos Ares Argentina. Spend a week to 2 here and travel to Montevido Uruguay. Then work your way through Brazil hitting the south up to Rio.

Then fly home.

Itinerary would look like this.

Fly - Venezuela
Bus - Colombia
Bus - Peru
Fly - Argentina
Bus - Montevideo Uruguay
Bus - Brazil
Fly - Home

That would cover ALL the main spots of South America imo.
